Only thing is, if you get it to go and have to wait long it will be soggy cause of all the moisture from the kraut. On our trips to Springfield, we always stop here for lunch and our road snacks. They offer a great line of signature sandwiches including the "Roughrider" which is their Pastrami Rueben, definitely a must try. The "Ox" made with roast beef and horseradish cheese and the "Sarge" which is a collection of meats and American cheese on sourdough. Mrs. E. likes the gourmet grilled cheese and a side salad. With this sandwich you get two cheeses of your choosing! They have a vast drink and chip menu. If you're a big Walnut Creek brand aficionado, you're in luck. Many different WC products to choose from. It's another great stop to stock up on meats and cheeses. Esp. our lunchmeats for the week, including our favourite, Sweet Lebanon Bologna. Yep, they carry it. Pro Tip: You might consider splitting their sandwiches and salads since the portions are so big. The folks here aren't the fastest, which is nice. Stopped in while in the area for work. I had the New Yorker sandwich with a side of Italian pasta salad and strawberry cheesecake. The sandwich came out streaming hot and delicious. I have ordered many things such as the Turkey Trot, the Italian sub, the Cubano, and the Sarge "Dagwood" - all are so wonderful and made with so much TLC. Also do not sleep on their sides! Based on the many rave reviews, I placed a delivery order via Grubhub, and was not disappointed. The veggie sub and tuna sandwich were both made of very fresh ingredients and super delicious. Beet pickled bolied eggs reminicently delish, as well. It is noticeable that their is care in the preparation of the order. They let me add a little coleslaw to the sauerkraut for my Ruben. This one was thick ... and made a quick. They have a nice variety of meats and cheeses you can take home. Such a tiny, hidden gem. You can buy all kinds of deli meats and cheeses, many from nearby Amish communities here, along with several housemade pasta & potato salad options, plus prepared sauces, mustards, snacks, soft drinks, desserts, etc. But, in my opinion, the sandwiches are the reason this place gets a very easy 5-star rating; specifically: one of the best Cuban sandwiches I've ever had. The pork* is so succulent, and perfectly seasoned. And the sandwich is prepared perfectly. The one pictured here was ordered with extra meat, but when ordered the standard menu way they are still pretty loaded. (*Note: The Cuban is made with pulled pork, rather than more traditional, larger pieces of roasted pork. Honestly, though, this is what makes the sandwich so good.) Also attached is a picture of The Devil's Dip (without lettuce) from a previous visit. Stuff is spread out among several displays and coolers, so make sure to look all around or you might miss something special. Today I ordered 3 Turkey, Bacon, Club sandwiches. I was greeted upon entering the front door. The lady that took my order was very friendly. I had reviewed the menu online prior to my arrival, therefore, I knew what I wanted to order. I also ordered 4 chocolate chip cookie cream cheese sandwiches for dessert. My wait was minimal considering that the bacon needed to be cooked. It was crisp like I like it to be. The bread was toasted and the sandwich had 3 slices on it. There was more turkey and bacon on it than I expected. There was shredded lettuce and mayonnaise also. It was so tall that I could barely get my mouth around it. My first bite was Devine! Noticed that this place had opened the other day when driving by. Since it was lunchtime when we drove past today, we stopped to grab some sandwiches. I had The Roughrider (in honor of the local high school team) with pastrami, sauerkraut, baby Swiss and Thousand Island and my husband had the Italian sub (Ham, Pepperoni, Salami,Capicola, Provolone, etc. Both were extremely tasty and HUGE.
