Coffee shop... yes! Bar... yes! We stopped by downtown forest city and wanted to enjoy a coffee. This looked like a cool spot. It's a coffee shop during the day, serving coffee, espresso, and specialty frappes. They have some protein bars and snacks as well. It's a bar at night. They have drafts on tap, and a whole section of bottles and cans for you to explore. A lot of what they have I've never seen before so it's a pretty cool collection to try. The ambience is dope! Cool seating and furniture. It would be cool to meet up with friends at night and enjoy the atmosphere. read more

You wouldn't know by the name what kind of place this was. Quant little local bar that has a nice feel to it when walking in. They serve coffee in the mornings, which the beans are roasted close by. They serve a bunch of different crafted beers as well as wine. What a Selection of wine to buy too! It's really a Neat place. Been here a couple of times now They have live music too. We've been asking this for years now and can't understand why the money can't be invested into proper cooling your taps/what you sell. We'd come more ofter if the beer on tap was actually COLD! Draft beverages should be served just above freezing, and considering yall are serving the beer in room temp plastic cups and not frosty glasses, it only further warms the beverage before I even get to taste it. Invest the money in fixing, repairing, upgrading your keg cooling fridges! Please! We would love this place but it is embarrassing to bring guests to a place that SERVES WARM BEER! If your primary product only requires BEING COLD, why would you not make sure that it was the coldest in this small town?!! read more

Roasted: visiting this area and stopped in for an afternoon cup of coffee. It's in downtown forest city and it's a full bar as well as a coffee shop. Atmosphere is nice and quiet for an early afternoon. They use small town coffee roasters for their coffee. The bartender has to hop back and forth between the bar and making coffee. She was friendly enough but could tell she didn't want to be making coffee drinks. Latte was super foamy and so burnt - it was hard to drink. No latte art at all but the amount of foam made it like a dry cappuccino. Sadly not a place I'd seek out for coffee. For the price - I expect a good cup of coffee. Come here for a beer not the coffee. Unroasted: coffee shop inside a bar is probably a bad idea but we decided to give it a try. This place is nice and looks like a great spot to catch a beer with some friends. The coffee shop in the corner looks like a new add on. The bartender is also working the coffee shop and she didn't seem very friendly having to walk to the opposite side to make some coffee. Ordered the usual latte with sugar free vanilla. Did not ask if it's for here or to go and we received to go cups. The coffee was one of the worst I've ever tasted. It was so bitter and burnt that it was virtually undrinkable. I must say I was pretty impressed with this place! A Yelp buddy of mine from the area - shout out to Tony R. - is a regular here and loves it. I've seen the sign a couple of times on trips to the Arcade Museum. It's a pretty cool sign to boot and is an absolute reflection of what you'll find inside. The space is wide open but nicely broken down into seating areas that still feel like you get some privacy. On the right side you'll find the package beer and wine for retail sales. On the left is where all the action happens at the bar. There were two chalkboards - one either side with the draft selections. I believe there were about fifteen to choose from and they were all solid representations of mostly NC craft beers. The prices are very reasonable with the average pint only $4 and nothing over $5. Other than the beer offerings, the thing I really enjoyed was the laid back vibe. Twisted Pear is totally unpretentious and not trying to be something it isn't. It's just a cool place for locals and visitors to grab a cold beer and hang out. Sodas available for the kids plus free popcorn. Plenty of board games too! Live music on weekends! read more

We joined in on a painting class with Stacey, then enjoyed a hard cider and some excellent excellent food from a food truck parked out back! Have had a better time if I'd asked! Some of the bartenders serve their friends until they're totally drunk and try to get into fights with the other patrons. Getting served at the bar is difficult when the bartenders are hanging out with their friends at the end of the bar. Quite often the air conditioning doesn't work. The men's room is disgusting and often has broken toilets and urinals. The owner(s) are completely hands off. At 11:00 - 11:30 at night the local gangs show up and overrun the place and a fight always breaks out. There are better choices, much better!! read more

I love all the beer and wine selections they have! Lots on tap to offer. They also sell some other local products. The place is always kept nice and clean. The blonde server isn't the most friendly person(or welcoming) I've met. Usually bartenders talk to folks and greet them but anytime I've been there, even during coffee there's been none of that. But I know that's not how the Twisted Pear is usually run so I won't deduct any stars for that. They also offer a few snacks but I'd love to see more. Can't wait for the live music to start again! This is a local haunt of mine, lots of good people come there it's a beer and wine bar. No mixed drink and no food. The beer is lukewarm most of the time. Unless you get it in a bottle from the ice cooler. The bartenders are generally friendly but every once in a while they get testy. They have music often and usually later hours the crowd gets younger and rougher. Other than that it's a place I go too have a $2 Amber Bock and visit with my friends. But be careful of the rumor mill, locals live too gossip! read more

Taking my brother for a tour of Downtown Forest City, we ventured in the Twisted Pear. We found a table but couldn't find any wait staff. The bartender looked perturbed as I went to the bar to order a couple of draft ales. The beers were flat and stale. I guess this is bar for locals that sit around vaping and drinking stale beer. They are open on sunday!!!!! Beer starts at noon but the coffee is anytime. I don't drink but i love coffee and everyone else loves craft beer. Perfect spot for all, even dog friendly. Very clean & friendly atmosphere. Definitely recommend it. read more

Went to the Twisted Pear last night for the first time. Despite the AC being out we had a really great time. The staff was super friendly and went out of their way to make us all feel comfortable. The live music was fantastic and they had a huge selection of lovely wine and beer. Glad they are here in downtown "Ruffton" but "The Pear" in Forest City is better. Great selection of local crafts and some national brands. They even carry a nice selection of package to take to go that local grocery markets don't. A great place to cool off on a hot summer day without the BS of a smoke filled dude bar full of drunks and women hitting on me. read more

They Twisted pear Forest City is a nice location, great evenings on Thursdays for trivia, great evening painting classes, and good camaraderie for Friday night pint nights. They have added a recycling dumpster for glass bottles. They have expanded their bottles selection. They have expanded the total number of taps they have. However they still lack a great diversity of international beers as well as better varieties of domestic beers read more

I love this place! Great tap selection, lots of local and regional beer available by the individual bottle/can as well as a discount on 6 packs. I occasionally find great wines here as well. The staff is really friendly and helpful. They remember wines that I like and inform me when they arrive. So grateful to see our little town revitalized by wonderful places like this! read more

This is one of those places that you go when you need to relax with a group of friends. And then again you can also go out by yourself have a couple drinking and still enjoy the atmosphere. There is a sense of down town home feel where you can see hand crafted items are for sell. You can also see that you can buy bottles of your favorite craft beer and also get a draft from around the state. Always enjoy that knowing that you can get a beer from home state. Over the last 18 months we've seen TP evolve from a wishful watering hole into a borderline hotspot. We've probably visited about 15-20 times (most recently 3/15/2019). Changes in decor, seating, ambiance have raised it up a notch. And quite surprisingly, the live music on weekends (usually with NO cover charge) has been quite good, from solo guitar balladeers to 4 piece cover bands. On weekends when there's college basketball, the place is packed. Two downsides: 1) no kitchen, no food, and 2) the (young) bar/wait staff seems, at best, ambivalent about customers. They don't know much about the draught menu (e.g., What's the best hoppy beer on tap? Uhhhhh, I dunno, maybe try this one....). We really want TP to be successful; maybe the owner can find an experienced manager who knows how to hire and train employees that'll keep everyone coming back for more. read more
