The ham was lunchmeat, diced up did not really care for that but the biscuits and gravy made up for it. Sat on the second floor in bar area. We were one of 4 tables and one person at the bar. The waiter/bartender was running around like he was so busy, but all he wanted to do was talk to his buddy at bar. Forgot my salad with my meal. My steak came out well done when I asked for medium-rare. My fiancés pasta had no Alfredo sauce on it at all, just some cheese sprinkled on veggies. This is his home town and hadn't been back in 25 years and was excited to bring me here....he ended up being disgusted by the service and food. Would not recommend. read more

The menu said that the meatloaf sold fast and wasn't always available, so I had to try it. It was good, but nothing to write home about. The food was awful. The service was okay at best. The establishment looked like it hadn't been updated since the 80's. One of the restrooms didn't lock nor have toilet paper. My husband got sick within 15 min of eating. AWFUL EXPERIENCE. We ordered cheese fries, the Reuben burger and broiled shrimp. The cheese fries were okay but it's hard to mess up melting cheese on pre frozen fries. The burger was under-seasoned. The worst was the broiled shrimp or should I say over cooked, rubbery, bland shrimp that was heavily sprinkled with Old Bay. Thankfully I ordered a baked potato because I ended up just putting the shrimp in the baked potato and that's the only thing that made it palatable. As we finished our meal, the server came over and cleared our plates and removed our drinks from the table never asking if we were finished with our drinks - which were the only mercy we had to wash down the foul tastes in our mouths. Liked this little place! Nustled right in downtown and easy to walk to from the Baymount across the street. Got the mozzarella sticks and tuna club. The mozzarella sticks were awesome! Came with both ranch and marinara sauce. They said they had cocktails so I asked the hostess what they had. She wasn't completely sure so I asked for a Malibu bay breeze.. let me tell you it was amazing! They should def add that to their menu bc they made it perfect. The tuna club was decent, came with a hard boiled egg which was yummy and different. Had to pick off the tomatoes bc they were green. We went in prior to looking at the Yelp reviews and I'm glad I did. This place for some reasons scores low on Yelp, but I have to say that my wife and I were pleasantly surprised. It was a Sunday during the Redskins / Dallas game, so it was dead - and quiet which we both loved. The service was great. We ate upstairs in the tavern. I got the Southwest Burger. My wife got the Fish and Chips. She got a glass of house white and I got the Vienna Lager. I have to say that we thought it was good. The fish could have been a little crisper, but it was still good. Atmosphere is drab and dated, but not in a quaint way. Food was ok. Fries were cold and not fresh. Our server was friendly and attentive. I have tried things across the menu and nothing has been worth paying the amount that they ask for. The best thing I can say about this restaurant, is the waitress was very nice. The food was awful. The salad was brown and old. The Potato skins had "chili" on the top that made them soggy and there was very little cheese. The spicy chicken Alfredo had dry Cajun spicy sprinkled over reheated dried up chicken slices. 1st time here and we had a wonderful lunch! Service was prompt and friendly, our server was spot-on and the food was delish. We had Cheese Fries for the appetizer, they were as good or better than OB. I had the Cobb Salad, portion size was just right and all the ingredients were nice and fresh. Hubby had the Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes & green beans, he was making yummy food noises the whole time while eating, so I'm thinking it was pretty good! WARNING: You may be shocked by the mean behavior I will be sharing of the Main Street Mill Restaurant staff. I have never left a bad review for a restaurant. But in all of my 50 years, I have never had as HORRIBLE an experience as this place. Neither have my kind aunt and uncle who will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary nor my cousin. My husband and I are local residents and ate here a few times and had decent experiences (when it wasn't busy). But the first night of Festival of the Leaves was packed. We are patient though. We were a table of 5 and there was only one table that could accommodate us but there were dirty plates on it since it hadn't been bussed. They offered us a table for four while we waited for the table and told us it would be a 10 minute wait. My husband and I shared one chair sitting back to back. We were never offered any water or menus during this time, we were ignored. After 15 minutes we asked them if we could move to the larger table. The waitress who just started bussing didn't seem to care. She took a few plates away and went on to do other things. After 10 more minutes, we asked another waitress if we could move and she explained in a harsh tone that they were busy (no kidding). It would have been nice if we could sit normally like the rest of the restaurant with one person to a chair though. We didn't care if the table was dirty. But maybe she thinks it's ok to be rude to an Asian? I noticed none of the other mostly white patrons were sitting two to a chair for almost half an hour. So then we were seated at the big table and she took our drink order. A few of us were ready to give our food orders too but she only took my aunt's order. She just walked off before anybody else could speak. A few of us got our drinks after several minutes. The other two waited several more minutes while she brought out an appetizer for my aunt, the mushy canned green beans. We waited a while before we got the crab dip, but we had no napkins for this dish with a messy sauce. We had no silverware either except for the spoon to scoop the dip onto the bread and slightly stale chips. Eventually they took our dinner order. We waited a long time, but we waited patiently. The only thing we asked for was silverware when we got the food and they said "they were working on it". The Cobb salad had no salad dressing. The fish and chips had no tartar sauce. My cousin wanted Thousand Island dressing for her reuben, but never got an opportunity to ask for any. And they forgot my aunt's chicken meal completely. She had to remind them 15 minutes after she finished her side salad and asked them to take the chicken off the order as we just wanted to leave after a 2+ hour ordeal. The angry waitress was purposely ignoring us most of the meal. We never got napkins unlike other guests.We noticed other patrons were served long before us and not given surly attitude/evil eye. The waitress was stomping up and down the stairs and in and out of the kitchen in a foul black mood. I've never seen anyone in such a rage at customers in all of my life - and 3 of the people seated at this table have worked in food service in our younger years. We finally asked for the bill. They brought it, but then they didn't come for the credit card and didn't ask if my cousin needed a box - she didn't eat much of her meal. My aunt finally ran out of patience and walked up with the plate to the host's station at the front to alert them that she wanted to leave and needed the box. She just stood there with the plate. They ignored her request and gave her attitude like she was going to steal the plate. Obnoxious. A few of us walked out of the restaurant after paying and she was still waiting for the to go box with my cousin. She told my cousin that she threw her food on top of the dishwasher bench. The food we paid for. My cousin finally completely exasperated at being treated so poorly all night said you don't have to be a bitch about it. And then the angry waitress went mental screaming at the top of her lungs to get the F*CK OUT OF MY RESTAURANT!!!! GET THE F*CK OUT OF HERE!!!!! I"M GOING TO CALL THE COPS IF YOU DON"T GET OFF THE PROPERTY!!! Went on and on like a nut case. Just nasty. My uncle went back into the restaurant to calmly ask for them to remove the tip after what they did. The angry woman said "she would get around to it when she could" and ignored him while he waited there patiently with my husband. They just stood there. The other wait staff couldn't figure out how to issue a refund. My aunt, cousin and I waited in front of the restaurant while the angry one came out and served other people on the patio glaring at my cousin. She knocked over a drink, breaking the glass and she made angry remarks again at us. Really, she was unhinged and angry all night. We never got the refund. You may want to rethink coming to this piss poor establishment. read more

Tonight may have just been an off night but I ordered a steak med rare, came out well done. They took it back and brought me out another steak that was RAW. I asked for a box and took it home to cook it to medium rare myself. Also, horrible service right from the start. I will never eat there again. If a restaurant has steak on the menu, they should be able to at least get it right the second time, when not cooked right to begin with. The only reason it got a 2 star instead of a 1 star, is that they took 50% off the steak. There are quite a few other places to eat here in Front Royal. read more

First I must disclaim bias, the chef is a close friend ;-) But seriously, this place is consistent enough to be a staple for my family. We have our faves we recommend, the soft pretzel ham and cheese, the taco salad, the crab artichoke dip is well worth it, the chicken fajita salad. The close walk from home adds to the appeal, as well as the location, right on main street. One of the few beefs I have, is that the business does not order from one of my preferred distributors, but that has more to do with me than you ;-) If you are local, it is also a great 'third place' where you will most likely run into others you know. read more

I cannot believe I just paid almost $80 for one of the worst meals I've ever tried to eat!  Let's kick it off with the fajita chicken salad. The salad which was nothing to brag about was accompanied by a cheap grocery store jar salsa. Green beans with bits of bacon I guess, straight out of the can no flavor. Meatloaf with ketchup smothered in brown gravy, why? Mashed potatoes with gravy, are the potatoes supposed to be crunchy? Potato skins, not! More like baked potato sliced with cheese served with scallions. Not good at all. The chili that accompanies these so-called potato skins not good either. Onion rings we're decent. Ribs were pretty good. Got them with sauce on side they were tender. Oreo cake was okay. However,  it was missing the whipped cream and chocolate syrup advertised on the menu. Highlight of the entire meal was the Dominion root beer, which is bottled. 80% of my meal just went in the trash. This gives me hope though. If I ever decide to open a food business in Front Royal I will do extremely well. Fortunately there are several other wonderful options in the area to get properly seasoned meals. read more
