My friend and I visited this establishment on 3/31/26. The bar maid was very kind. The female patron was very kind. There was a man there who was so drunk, he couldn't keep his eyes open. The barmaid was telling us a story about a customer missing her phone and her boyfriend had it. The man said "it was a black man." The barmaid told him that was irrelevant. He said it was. She finished her story. A few minutes after the man says randomly. "It's like white ice and black ice. Slip on black ice and your wallet is going to get stolen." Both the barmaid and female patron told him to stop multiple times. Rather then entertain bigotry, my friend and I started a side conversation not speaking to him. You can't fix stupid. After further research I learned he was the owner Michael Schultz! I understand why he wasn't asked to leave, because it was his bar. With that being said, I will never do business there. read more

The food is back and company fun. I had a great time. The owners were delightful and gracious. I'm new to town, so it was refreshing. I see it as a vintage neighborhood sports bar; it has half a dozen TVs and the furniture and decor is wood and hardwood floors . . . And I was incredibly glad they BROUGHT FOOD BACK. I would give 5 stars to Russ the bartender. Nice man, engaged in conversation and I truly think his back is against the wall with what he's working with. No lights on in the bar just a small tv. One beer was $5.00 the place was empty besides your normal two female flies at end of bar, they do not serve food they say because no one wants to work. Here is your problem over priced drinks, no ambiance, bottom line poor management.. I'm betting $5.00 to a dime the one "female fly" that says she does the ordering is living up stairs in that hole of an apartment with the man who owns the bar.. you're miserable, you and the other fly that looks like Bob's wife from Bob Burgers cartoon. I dislike trashing businesses and their owners so I suggest that you read other people's Yelp reviews and other review sites "*IF* you don't believe Yelp reviews. A (2) two star rating is being generous. Main Street Tavern went down hill after the current owner bought the place, it's not a friendly place to stop at unlike it was with the previous owners and when Schu owned it before them. Yes, I stopped there 40 years ago when Schu owned it and afterwards when Schu sold it. If you want an adult beverage or tasty treats go across the street to one of the best known "secrets" ;) , they have an excellent selections of adult beverages and it's the place to go to for cigars and pipe tobacco. read more

So we where hear for a wedding at a different facility a block away (that was an outstanding wedding and venue!) the wedding wrapped up and our group went to this bar at 11:30pm... the TVs were on and some lights at the bar. Other than that the door was locked, didn't see any sign of like inside and we were unable to go in. Being the only bar on Yelp/I-maps that is "open" past 10 pm is a disappointment when they are closed on a Saturday night. After reading reviews it's makes sense and kinda glad it was closed. It is also the only reason I'm writing this. The hours are incorrect and they are not the place to go after a fun evening. They will likely be closed. It would not be a bad business idea for other in the area to cater to the late ate night crowd. read more

Wheeeeewww, AVOID. The owner harassed my friend (she has short hair) about using the women's bathroom! Loudly, rudely and repeatedly! Then told us they were "closing soon" and immediately turned off the lights where we were sitting, although no one other tables were told it was closing time and the lights stayed on in other sections. This is my girlfriend and mine first time to frankenmuth and we found this little hole in the wall bar while waiting for our check in at the marv herzog hotel. Couldn't ask for more, cheap drinks and a friendly bar tender. (Although he was wearing a Michigan hat! Go green!) Frankenmuth is a great town and lots of opportunities exist to have a fun time on the weekends. However, this little Michigan town slows quickly in the evenings during the week. On a recent work trip we stayed in a local hotel and were looking for late night pizza. Main Street was the only business that had a kitchen open (near 11:30 P.M.). One friend called, and was quickly dismissed on the phone by an employee who reported "kitchen's closed" before hanging up. Another friend, who was not aware that we had called the restaurant, called and was able to place an order. We arrived at Main Street about 15 minutes later. The four of us walked in (all men, aged 24-32) and inquired about our order. The bar tender's face (I think her name was Linda) told us the story -- she wanted to get home and was upset we were there. She then asked for our IDs - having just left the hotel pool, we did not have them. She insisted we wait outside for our pizza "because the State might come check." So, we waited in the alley/parking lot out back while Linda and her friends proceeded to "clean the bar" (read: have drinks with their friends). When our pizza was done they called our cell phone. I went inside, only to be told the bar is cash only (this would have been helpful to have known when placing the phone order). read more

This has to be the worst bar I've ever been to and in a tourist destination that's just strange to see. We literally had to ask for menus, ask for drinks, never got served, and decided to leave but no one was actually around so I had to go in the kitchen and tell him. He seemed to not give a shit, not apologize, nothing. I would understand if they were busy, understaffed, but there were like 2 tables of people there and 3-4 people working. A Saturday night...... I really want to give Main Street Tavern a 4 star review but just can't overlook the shortfalls that were experienced over my Frankenmuth weekend. I really just wanted a small town dive bar to watch the World Series Playoffs, a little hockey, and maybe my Saturday night Michigan game but was a little disappointed by the tiny TV's in this bar, poor reception (not HD by far), and the one bartender servicing the entire clientele. There was one other person working or should I say on the clock, but she was worthless. Apparently she was the girlfriend of the owner. What a shame. I just sucked it up and got my pitchers of beer from the bar, it was only a short walk, more annoying if anything, especially after spending 6-8 hours walking all day. I did order some breadsticks (small) and those were pretty damn good. The small is enough for at least 4 people. I just wished they would have informed me that the kitchen was closing all but the oven only 30 minutes after asking for a menu and specifically asking if the fryers were still on. He stated that the full kitchen was available. To top all this off, my tab was over $90 and none of us in my party agreed with the amount. The pitchers must have been $15 a piece. Oh well, take this into consideration when stopping in for a late night beer, old man DJ, and order of breadsticks......PAY CASH or tag out after each order. Now taking all this into consideration, there were some good things here hence the 3 stars and not 1. The breadsticks WERE good, the beer was great (Leini's 5 year special), and I was able to accomplish what I set out to do. The place was also half a block from our Bed and Breakfast. I would recommend for late night shenanigans but that's about it. Next time I'll be trying the wings and maybe a pizza. read more

If I could leave zero stars for this place I would. While the inside was eye catching I have never felt more unwelcome and uncomfortable in a bar as I felt here. The owner herself sat at the bar very intoxicated and tried to push her political views on a few guests that sat down next to her... while our bartender was nice the owner was not. Of course a fight broke out but that's to be expected in hole in the wall gems like Main Street Tavern (plus I arrived at midnight). Stayed at the Fairfield and this was a short walking distance. Drinks were cheap (I think $4 for a tito's and soda?) and they have a cool balcony where you can watch people stagger home. Jukebox and good company. 4 stars because of the annoying fight that didn't get broken up for a few minutes. And the bathrooms were.. well, you'll see. read more

Typical dive-bar that only accepts cash and you have to pay as you go. Stopped in here twice in one day. Once around 4pm while waiting for a wedding reception to start and the second was after the wedding, same day...two very different experiences. The first visit, I sat at the bar and enjoyed some light conversation with the bartender, small, quiet, unique bar in Frankenmuth. Second visit, we basically walked into a club. There was what some people might consider a DJ, people dancing, and a packed body-to-body bar. It was absolutely insane, the people were rude and the overall atmosphere was unpleasant. read more

Wow, some painful reviews here! OK, let's be honest. The place is not the Waldorf Astoria. And the owner, well, he can be a bit abrasive. But don't take it personally; he's that way to people he likes, too! Sometimes they're short staffed. And when they are, yes, you've got to walk your lazy buttocks up to the bar to get your drinks. Boo Hoo. You might also notice that there's no bellhop, and no Valet parking. And no, the floor is not "clean enough to eat off." BUT, once you accept the place for what it is, an old town tavern dating back to prohibition, that serves cold beer that's priced quite cheap for a tourist-trap of a town, with a colorful clientele that's perfect for People Watching, well, you should have a good time. It's bright, it's noisy, and you'll get no special treatment for being a tourist. But here's a tip that'll make the entire adventure worthwhile: ORDER A PIZZA. It'll be made to order, piping hott, densely packed with the toppings of your choice, and over-topped with cheese. NO chain makes a pizza like this; the accountants would never let them. As for the Accountant at Main St. Tavern? Well, his whereabouts are currently, uh, "unaccounted for" (DON'T look in the basement.) Was forced to stop in here for a drink while waiting on a friend to get out of an appointment. Tiff's was PACKED so this was the only other option. Sitting there at the bar, minding my own business. The owner was sitting at the end, visibly drunk, chatting with the bartender. I don't even know what or how it escalated but all the sudden the owner began shouting and ranting. Expected at any bar, right? Wrong. Here's where it got bad. The stuff he was shouting about? It was all EXTREMELY racist, anti-gay and anti-Semitic comments. Now I'm from a small town, so I've heard my fair share of nasty stuff. I don't get offended easily so I usually let it slide off my back without letting it bother me. But this guy? Even I was offended. If I could type it on here without getting reported, I would, but I'm positive my account would get shut down within minutes and I'd have the FBI investigating me. It was bad. Main Street is a good place to go for a late night drink. The food is acceptable for any small town dive bar (Remember - they don't claim to be a five diamond dining facility, its a tavern). Teh service can be hit or miss and the bartenders are not afraid to lay down the law. This place is a "total dive!" My wife and I were visiting the Frankenmuth, MI area, when we decided to wet our whistle with a cold beverage. As I walked into this tavern, I almost walked immediately out of this establishment. We were met with...cash only, no food, a run down looking ambiance and unfriendly service. I felt like I walked into someone's private party and I was hanging out, in order to drink the beer. Being the good sports that we were, we both drank our 1-beer quickly and then we immediately excused ourselves outside. If I could give this place zero stars I would. This is the only bar in downtown Frankenmuth that stays open until 2 am, the ONE pro this establishment possesses. The owner however should not be in customer service. The countless stories I have heard and experienced myself regarding the owner completely disrespecting his patrons is enough to result in me never returning. When you choose to own and run a bar there are many things that come along with the territory on a nightly basis that you must deal with.
