Sausage Plate with Coleslaw and Baked Beans; Pulled Pork Bowl with Bakes Beans and Cornbread
    Delaney A.

Thank GOD this place exists. It's near impossible to get anything other than lobster in Bar Harbor which I understand but I also don't want to eat lobster for a week straight. When we walked in, the hostess let us know that they were short staffed but we could be seated. We were very understanding and could see that it was literally just her and one other person serving 3-4 different large seating areas. It was crazy for them but they made it work and got those tables flipped quickly without rushing anyone. We decided to sit inside the covered patio area because it was cold and it was so cute! The lighting and decor was a great vibe. It didn't take long for our server to come take our drink order. We ordered a blueberry soda (my very first Maine blueberry item!!!) and a beer. The blueberry soda was INCREDIBLE!!!!! I am so upset that we didn't order a 6 pack to take back to the AirBnb and I'm still kicking myself. The beer was also really good which I'm sure has to do with the fact that this Mainely Meat location is attached to Atlantic Brewing who also make my soda. It's a match made in heaven. For food, I ordered the sausage meal with coleslaw and baked beans and my wife ordered a bowl which usually comes with pulled pork, beans and coleslaw but she subbed the coleslaw for more cornbread. Both of them were reallyyyyyy good. We took home less than half of it just because we were stuffed. The coleslaw was amazingly balanced. It wasn't sweet and didn't go too hard on the mayo and the beans were equally incredible. They had chunks of meat in them, only adding to the smokiness. 10/10, we would absolutely be back!!

Busy BBQ joint nearly missed it from the main road. Patio is from rocks and sand, inside there is a dinning room with bar stool. Friendly service, quick service.

Very good food and service! We enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich and the onion rings. The blueberry lemonade and the blueberry balsamic was a treat. Great ambiance with live music that evening.

I had such a great experience here with my family and friends! The staff was all super friendly and helpful, the food came out really quickly, and I loved the atmosphere. I got the pulled pork sandwich and it was the best pulled pork I've ever had! I love that they give two different options for your barbeque sauce - sweet or spicy. Even the root beer they had was sooo good! This was my 2nd time here and I will definitely be back again!!!

Mainely Meat restaurant offers a mouthwatering selection of smoked bbq meats that are tender and flavorful. The pulled pork melts in your mouth, while the ribs have the perfect balance of smokiness and sweetness. The sides, especially the baked beans are equally impressive. The casual atmosphere is inviting, and the staff is friendly and attentive. There's also a good selection is craft beers from the local Atlantic Brewery which pairs very well with the food. The food portions are large and the prices are very reasonable. Overall, a must-visit for BBQ lovers when visiting Bar Harbor, Maine.

One of my favorite meals in Bar Harbor!! We went to the mini golf and saw Mainely Meats across the street. We realized it was closed on Tuesdays, but after a quick Google search, we were happy to find that its sister location was just a few miles further up the road and was open every day! There's plenty of free parking in their gravel lot. We got there right at 11:30am when it opened and were the third party in line. I only saw outdoor seating. Tables started filling up really fast and they were short-staffed, but our food came within 10ish mins of ordering! The ribs were AMAZING. The meat fell right off the bone. The half rack was a great appetizer for the three of us. We also got the pulled pork sandwich and the Cubano and they were sooo good! Even the bread alone was buttery and yummy. The potato salad side was very potato-heavy and needed some barbecue sauce for flavor. We also got the blueberry cider which wasn't super sweet or blueberry-forward, but we still enjoyed it. Each table had a big bottle of brown sweet barbecue sauce and orange spicy sauce which tasted like Tabasco sauce. We mixed both sauces on everything and it was delicious! We had friendly service and I wish we had more time to come back again to try the sampler!

Great spot if you love meat. With their clever name and variety of meats, you're bound to enjoy it here. It features a memorable location with nice vibes. They have something going with Atlantic Brewing which seems to work well. We were all hungry after walking around the pretty gardens, so we had to go with the Max Plate. The 4 of us, who can eat a lot, couldn't finish it. The servings are generous and filling. The pulled pork and the potato salad stuck out to me. Hope to return next time we're in the lovely area.

Cuban! It has pulled pork y'all!
    Deborah F.

I don't always order Cuban sandwiches but I've been here many times and have always enjoyed the brisket and ribs. I wanted to try something new. Doug's Cuban with pulled pork AND ham on Texas toast is the best! Now, blueberry lemonade is as common as lobster on MDI. I wasn't expecting to be wowed but I was. Warning: it is sweet! But so good. This is a well established restaurant, didn't think the business really needed another good review. But I have to give credit where credit is due. Thank you, Doug. Whoever you are.

My hubby ordered their Cubano sandwich while I ordered a cheeseburger. He loved his Cubano, which came with a side of mac 'n cheese. The mac 'n cheese was light in flavor, I think because of the kind of cheese used. I prefer more flavor, but it wasn't bad either. My( burger was quite large, and it was really tasty... very nicely seasoned beef patty, and it had all the things I like... cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle.... and catsup. I was very happy. It came with fries, but I had my fill of fries with all the lobster rolls I had ordered along the way, so I didn't eat them. Plus, there was a slice of blueberry pie calling out to me, so I wanted to blow my calories with the pie... and so glad I did cuz it was another spectacular piece of blueberry pie. Against my will, I split it with my hubby. Lol. It was a great way to end our meal. (Turns out we never got dinner that night cuz we were so full from such a nice lunch.) Side Street Cafe is definitely going on my radar if we're ever fortunate enough to return to Bar Harbor.

We waited over an hour for a large half-pepperoni, half-cheese pizza. The burger and fries we ordered came out in about 30 minutes, but the waitress bringing out the burger said the pizza was coming. Twenty minutes later we inquired again, only to be told they were backed up. We got that message from the 50-minute wait, but when people who ordered pizza after us, received their pizza before we did, we knew this place had issues. When the lady finally brought out the pizza, she was like, "sorry," but big deal, by then the damage was already done. They made no efforts to make it up to us, especially considering we had waited so long. Very disappointing. They really didn't care about our two han-gry (hungry and angry) kids who really wanted to eat that pizza. The restaurant had a fairly steady flow of customers ordering, but it was not crowded or overwhelming. People enjoyed food and drinks around their tables and watching the big screen televisions with trivia and sports updates. Nobody was at the pool table. After waiting so long, my son was trying to be optimistic and said we should play some pool, since no one was playing. Then he saw the big sign that said only 18-year-olds and older, no exceptions! Needless to say, we were sorely disappointed with this experience. For a Monday night, where the pace was not very busy or unmanageable, this should not have been that hard to make a pizza in less than an hour. This was ridiculous. As a result, I do not recommend this place, especially if you have kids. Check out the other pizza places in town and save yourself a lot of time and frustration ... or order your dinner at lunchtime.
