After reading several Reddit reviews, we found that Havana was frequently mentioned as the best restaurant in Bar Harbor, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered several dishes and were thoroughly impressed. We started with the tostada, which featured wonderfully smoky brisket with a richness reminiscent of pork belly. Our summer salad with whipped feta was also delicious. The "Gambas" shrimp appetizer was probably our favorite of the night, full of layered buttery, spicy flavors reminiscent of an Indian curry. We also loved the mussels appetizer, served in a briny broth simmered with smoked pork and chorizo. The seasoning and flavor profiles of every dish were surprising and exceeded our expectations. This place is really a nice restaurant option in a lovely area of Bar Harbor. We ate in the dining room and had a super energetic and fun waitress. They were so responsive when we requested a new table because a large party next to us was very loud and we wanted a quieter meal. We enjoyed the Maine oysters a lot. They were nice size and the accompanying sauces were great. The paella was the star of the show though. The scallops were so moist and tender and there was just the right spice level to the rice. There was plenty of shrimp, mussels, lobster chunks, chicken, and sausage. We really enjoyed our meal. read more

Went here for the Fourth of July 250th, and was not disappointed. I had a large party of 9 and reserved way in advance, and the service was spectacular. Our waiter, HarHar, paid special attention to all of the allergies at our large table, including gluten free, pineapple, almonds, etc. The space is incredibly intimate, with live music. One thing that I would have wished for was more bathrooms, since there was frequently a line for them. However, not so intimate that we were smooshed together like sardines! EVERYTHING on that menu, including the paella, was spectacular. There was not a person in my party that left hungry that night- portions were large, and the food was extraordinary. Bar Harbor is full of full to the brim waterfront restaurants serving all types of chowder, lobster and typical New England cuisine. But if you are looking for something exquisite, Havana in Village Green is the place to be. There is a reason why the restaurant makes it to the top wine restaurants in America year after year. We are not big on wine but it was obvious the sommelier, William knows his craft. The two wines we tried were good. Food goes from better to better. The breadbasket isn't a hasty afterthought, the blueberry cornbread is delicately flavored yet hearty. Caldo de Frijoles 5/5 Spring Rolls 4/5 Mejillones 5/5 Champinons 6/5, star of the show, every element shines through--perfectly roasted mushrooms, gently coated with pesto, on a bed of forbidden rice (would love to know how they made forbidden rice taste the way they did!), subtle aioli, and tomatoes. Havana has the right vibes for someone in the Bar Harbor vacation mode. Upscale but approachable. I recommend the lobster stew but some more lobster in the stew would have been nice. The paella was also very good (they do NOT skimp on the seafood and I loved the crispy rice bits). I just had one of the top five meals of my 57 years of life at Havana. It's expensive, sure, but absolutely worth it. Everything our table had was on point with flavors, the steak and seafood were cooked to perfection, and the timing of each course was impeccable. We were celebrating my retirement, and so they gave us the 'Obama' table, congratulated me personally, and there was a card on the table congratulating me. Such attention to detail! 4.5 stars. My husband and I had a spectacular dinner here while visiting Acadia National Park. There was live music near the bar inside and the whole restaurant has a great vibe. We were sat in a romantic back space near the wine cellar wall and it was beautiful. We both enjoyed drinks as recommended by the very friendly sommelier and loved the bread and dips that started our meal. For my entree I ordered lobster moqueca which was amazing- like the best seafood stew I've ever had served with fluffy rice. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is because the dessert was disappointing compared to how delicious the rest of our meal was. We ordered the tart and it was pretty mid. My favorite thing about this place is that it's gigantic, but it is split up in such a way that every room feels cozy, and you wouldn't have known that there were 200 people if you didn't look. The scenery is amazing! The food is good, not amazing, but definitely nice after a string of subpar restaraunts. I gulped down an entire plate of paella in around five seconds! It is very expensive however. The servers are amazing, my party had a server named Sam, and he was so nice I felt that I don't even deserve to be in his presence, in the best way possible. Visited Havana for dinner during our first night in Bar Harbor. A chef we met in Searsport had recommended it and it was already on my list of places to try based on other yelpers' reviews. We weren't able to get a reservation last minute so we took our luck with getting seats at their small bar. (Side note - we accidentally sat down at the bar at the more casual place next door before we realized we were at the wrong place!) The bar seats were very comfortable and we enjoyed dining there - there were 2 musicians playing guitars throughout the whole meal. I must commend the bartender for her amazing service throughout the night. Despite how busy it was, she was on top of things - even remembering to remind the host to turn on the overhead music as soon as the guitar players took a break. To start, we shared the tostada - very tasty, large portion of brisket & the mango pico very good. For our mains, I had the lobster moqueca and my husband had the filet. My entrée was delicious. The broth was so tasty with large chunks of lobster. My husband's steak entree was so-so - it came out medium rare despite asking for medium. He didn't really like the potatoes on the side either. Since my husband doesn't eat fish, there weren't a ton of entrée options for him. We still really enjoyed our meal and had no room for dessert. Went here cause everybody told me I HAD to. I was a little hesitant after looking at the menu but was so glad we ended up here! Its a super cute spot thats in a few different buildings but makes it feel very unique. Being a mainer, I can get a lobster roll nearly anywhere so it was nice to change things up. I started with the oysters and they were SO good. So fresh, and the mignettes were perfection. I got the paella for dinner and will be dreaming about that dish forever. During check-in, I was asked to provide certification for my service dog before being allowed entry. I wanted to respectfully share that under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), businesses may ask only whether a dog is a service animal required because of a disability and what task the dog has been trained to perform. On of our favorite restaurants in bar harbor, we have to visit here every time we are in town. This restaurant especially stands out in the quality of service and amazing Spanish cuisine. They also have great drink options; my family especially loves their sangria and large wine selection. All the appetizers on their menu are carefully thought out and delicious. My favorites are the mushroom egg rolls, with a creamy aoili sauce, perfect for mushroom lovers. We also love the pulpo/octopus which is always cooked to perfection (very hard to find). Recently, we also tried their tuna ceviche which was super fresh and colorful. For entrees you can't go wrong with anything, but my personal favorite is the paella. On the day that we went to Havana, it was sweltering hot. When we were seated next to the window, the waitstaff were nice enough to realize how hot the table was and moved us to a different location without us even asking. They then brought over a small little fruit bite appetizer that was specific to the day and quite tasty. Surprisingly, best part of the meal, by far, was their homemade bread they gave us to start. We had a warm blueberry bread that was incredible. I would consider going back to Havana just for this bread. The food was good overall- we went with very seafood forward options and were not disappointed. The tostadas were very good- flavorful and inventive, though hard to share. The tuna appetizer was okay, but I wish we had swapped it out for the pulpo, which looked really good. The halibut was perfectly cooked and came in a delicious sauce- I just wish the portion was slightly bigger because I ate it all so quickly! We had the gambas appetizer (with incredibly delicious Sofrito sauce), halibut on a lovely asparagus purée, and the pistachio encrusted lamb rack. We had a 4:00 reservation that I messed up... but, they got us in without any hassle. Very appreciated. Started with oysters. They were fresh & the accompaniments were delicious... especially the crème fraîche. It paired really well with the smoky cocktail sauce. The garlic shrimp were excellent too, with just the right amount of heat in the sauce. The spring rolls were different than what we expected, but really good... my favorite appetizer. We split the Lobster Moqueca. Not something I'd normally order, but I'm glad we did. Unique, flavorful... & a fun change from other lobster this trip. We had a beautiful dinner tonight at Havana! Jessica was fantastic and made the night very special with the knowledge of the menu and you could just feel the love and respect that she has for the owner and staff. The service and food was exceptional and made for a lovely first evening in Bar Harbor. We were exhausted from a long day and while the setting is very romantic and top notch the food and staff make it feel homey all at the same time. We each had a cup of the cal do de frijoles (bean soup) and shared the paella and they were both perfection. The bread basket was one of a kind. Who knew such exceptional food service existed at the very end of restaurant row in Bar Harbor? Based on recommendation, we wrapped up our Bar Harbor trip with a fantastic meal, where coastal-meets-luxury with Latin flair. White tablecloths and waiters dressed sharply, the teamed moved around with ease and handled every guest with the utmost care, without being too pretentious. We shared the sopa de asparragos - a roasted asparagus soup with coconut cream. Rolled right into the carne (a filet mignon plated gorgeously and cooked perfectly) adorned with the yummiest roasted vegetables and a black garlic infused yogurt sauce. We also shared the roasted chicken, also delicious, but the filet mignon was far more special. Was pleased to finally see some creative non-alcoholic drinks on the menu that were NOT orange juice, simple syrup and grenadine. Would recommend this to anyone going to Bar Habor for a special meal. I came here with 6 of my friends during our trip to Acadia and started off our stay with a reservation at Havana. We walked in to some live jazz and the restaurant smelled incredible as we approached and walked inside. We were seated in the main dining room and our waiter went into great depth about the specials for the evening. We ended up ordering the tuna ceviche and mussels as an appetizer. The ceviche was refreshing on a warm June night and the mussels were drowning in a delicious coconut cream sauce which couldn't stop eating, we even got extra bread to sop it all up. For my meal I ordered the Lobster Moqueca since I was really in the mood for more coconut cream. The sauce had chunks of lobster and haddock and it was topped with grilled pineapple. Again, I couldn't stop eating the sauce- I could've kept eating it all night. Several of my friends ordered the Seafood Paella and they said it was the best paella they've tasted so I had to give it a try. It was in fact the real deal, the charred rice and fresh seafood made it a must try. We had an amazing meal at Havana and would highly recommend anyone come through Bar Harbor to try to get a reservation, it's worth it. read more

But since I can't get my belly full on "presentation" alone, I would rather go to somewhere like Testas where it looks great, AND the food is plenty and exceptional. I will say it was a little overpriced for me at $49 but I still enjoyed it regardless. This place was so freaking good! The night before we were at an Italian restaurant for dinner and they recommended us to come here, but little did they know we had booked a reservation beforehand so we were super hyped to come here! The food here did not disappoint at all. The people here were super nice and friendly. The service was a bit slow but the whole restaurant was packed with people so I'll give it to them for still doing such an amazing job! I love the variety of bread that they served the table! We did start off with two soups which were Gazpacho and sopa de asparragos. My partner loves gazpacho so whenever we see it on the menu, we have to get it. I got the sopa de asparragos for my parents because they wanted a warm soup. I loved both soups very much and enjoyed it a lot. We did a few entrees to share just so everyone can try what this resturant has to offer. We did Gambas, Lobster Moqueca which was my favorite, and Seafood Paella. I basically licked the whole plate of sauce for gambas because I really liked how flavorful it was. Lobster moqueca was my favorite because I didn't expect it to be so good. You would think after eating lobster for 3 days straight I'm tired of it but the sauce was so good that it made the lobster super fresh and tasty in this dish! The seafood paella was really good as well! They did not skimp at all with the seafood and the dish was really good in flavors overall. This place is definitely a must if you're in Bar Harbor! Our group decided many, many months ago that Havana would be a must for our trip. We were able to get reservations for our preferred night and time. The building is a quaint little structure with a lot of room inside. Our group of five was seated in a front room and quickly greeted by our amazing server, Sam. Sam was amazingly friendly and throughout the entire dinner, he quickly became a part of our group, taking in our humor and quickly being a part of our inside jokes. The wine menu is a 78 page novel with some of the most amazing names inside. And if you have a question or want a recommendation, there is an on-site sommelier who is more than happy to guide your decision making. Upon seating, we were provided with a very tasty and seasonal amuse bouche, and our friend who is vegan for health reasons was provided her own person vegan version. We ordered the gambas....that sauce, y'all! And the shrimp were large and perfectly cooked. We also ordered spring rolls which everyone enjoyed. At one point, it was rather warm in the room, and Sam discreetly lowered the temperature, which everyone in the room appreciated. On to dinner... I had the pescado with a perfectly cooked fish and seasonal vegetables to go with it. When I say perfectly cooked.... wellllll....can I kiss the chef!!? Others had the duck, paella, and calabaza. I mean, everything was mouth watering and satisfying. Some of the table ended with dessert, and well, my dessert was one of the most flavorful espresso martinis as it had a hint of hazelnut. I would have indulged in a cigar outside, but my group doesn't love it as much as I do, so we passed. Talk about a wonderful experience. Havana was the star of our dining out experiences in Bar Harbor! Let me qualify that a little:  o This was our first visit to Bar Harbor o We were only in town for four nights (and four dinners) Of the four places we tried for dinner during this visit, Havana was far and away the best. However, trying Havana on our last night in town was a mistake. We regretted not being able to visit more than once--like we missed another excellent meal. Why would we have come back? Well, the food was fantastic, and the service was excellent. The ambiance is comfortable and upscale--and yet it's a tourist town, so casual attire is okay, too. Nonetheless, we felt comfy coming to Havana dressed up a bit. (We'd seen the white tablecloths during a walk-by that afternoon.)  We started with cocktails and a fresh, local variety of oysters--all of which were delicious. We also had one of the "special" appetizers: the Maine Cheese Plate. Again, there was a nice variety, and all of them were very tasty. For my main course, I had the Chili Relleno, while my partner had the Seafood Paella. At first, I was a bit surprised that the chili relleno didn't come smothered with cheese. In fact, there was no cheese. That just didn't jive with my past experiences with this dish. (I wonder if this was one of their vegan options.) No matter. After a few bites, I didn't miss the cheese at all. The balance of flavors in Havana's version was incredible. I would order it again for sure. My partner also loved the balance of flavors in her Paella. She also appreciated that it wasn't an overwhelmingly sized portion, which is sometimes the case with Paella. Miraculously, we saved room for dessert. We shared the Blueberry Mousse Cake, which was terrific--like everything else that night. Sadly, Bar Harbor is more than five hours away from our home. We'd likely make that trip semi-regularly if it were two hours or less. read more

We read about this place in various publications and made a reservation before we left for Maine. We ate on a Tuesday night in the middle of May. Our server Harley was attentive and friendly. The room had cool artwork on the walls and was very colorful. We knew that we weren't going to have two large entrees, so I cannot comment on those. What we did have was the delicious bread service, the Gazpacho, Snap Pea Salad, Farm Salad, and Spring Rolls. The Spring Rolls were so unique and yummy that we ordered a second round of them! The Gazpacho was authentic. The Snap Pea Salad was fantastic!! The Farm Salad was great too, just in a more traditional way. They have a long and comprehensive wine and cocktail menu. It's a touristy restaurant in Bar Harbor . Reservations highly recommend although you may be able to snag at seat at their small bar . The bread service was awesome and the selection of breads and sauces was delectable and delicious . I ordered the lobster moqueca : lobster meat simmered in coconut broth with haddock, red peppers and onions, served over jasmine rice, and garnished with grilled pineapple. It was just okay . A bit rubbery and flavorless in my opinion . The coconut and pineapple flavors were a nice attempt but the flavor profile just wasn't working and I wouldn't recommend this dish to any huge lobster fan.
