Bar Harbor is full of full to the brim waterfront restaurants serving all types of chowder, lobster and typical New England cuisine. But if you are looking for something exquisite, Havana in Village Green is the place to be. There is a reason why the restaurant makes it to the top wine restaurants in America year after year. We are not big on wine but it was obvious the sommelier, William knows his craft. The two wines we tried were good. Food goes from better to better. The breadbasket isn't a hasty afterthought, the blueberry cornbread is delicately flavored yet hearty. Caldo de Frijoles 5/5 Spring Rolls 4/5 Mejillones 5/5 Champinons 6/5, star of the show, every element shines through--perfectly roasted mushrooms, gently coated with pesto, on a bed of forbidden rice (would love to know how they made forbidden rice taste the way they did!), subtle aioli, and tomatoes. Ambience is delightful with live cuban music. Our server, Jenny, was fantastic. We went with her dessert recommendation--Black Forest cake--and weren't disappointed.

Havana has the right vibes for someone in the Bar Harbor vacation mode. Upscale but approachable. I recommend the lobster stew but some more lobster in the stew would have been nice. The dishes were flavorful including the chocolate mouse will oil and some crunchies had a pleasant texture. Service was friendly and the server tied to connect with the diners. It was a nice meal with tourist prices (as you would expect).

Good option for dinner in Bar Harbor. Service was top notch and dishes were all well prepared with great presentation. My favorite was probably the seared scallops and shrimp. The paella was also very good (they do NOT skimp on the seafood and I loved the crispy rice bits). I wasn't the biggest fan of the lobster moqueca (though they were quite generous with the lobster) but my sister liked it a lot.

I just had one of the top five meals of my 57 years of life at Havana. It's expensive, sure, but absolutely worth it. Everything our table had was on point with flavors, the steak and seafood were cooked to perfection, and the timing of each course was impeccable. We were celebrating my retirement, and so they gave us the 'Obama' table, congratulated me personally, and there was a card on the table congratulating me. Such attention to detail! Truly, if you want an experience and not just an amazing meal, get a reservation at Havana.

We stopped for dinner after a sunset cruise. The staff, from the host, server & busser were all friendly and attentive. The gambas ( shrimp) appetizer was absolutely delicious! We shared the paella. The rice was crispy as it should be and the dish was not rushed. We enjoyed a Pisco sour from the bar. Wonderful experience in Bar Harbor.

Visited Havana for dinner during our first night in Bar Harbor. A chef we met in Searsport had recommended it and it was already on my list of places to try based on other yelpers' reviews. We weren't able to get a reservation last minute so we took our luck with getting seats at their small bar. (Side note - we accidentally sat down at the bar at the more casual place next door before we realized we were at the wrong place!) The bar seats were very comfortable and we enjoyed dining there - there were 2 musicians playing guitars throughout the whole meal. I must commend the bartender for her amazing service throughout the night. Despite how busy it was, she was on top of things - even remembering to remind the host to turn on the overhead music as soon as the guitar players took a break. To start, we shared the tostada - very tasty, large portion of brisket & the mango pico very good. For our mains, I had the lobster moqueca and my husband had the filet. My entrée was delicious. The broth was so tasty with large chunks of lobster. My husband's steak entree was so-so - it came out medium rare despite asking for medium. He didn't really like the potatoes on the side either. Since my husband doesn't eat fish, there weren't a ton of entrée options for him. We still really enjoyed our meal and had no room for dessert. The meal was on the pricier side since we also had a couple rounds of cocktails but it was worth it. We liked the atmosphere and being in the action at the bar.

On of our favorite restaurants in bar harbor, we have to visit here every time we are in town. This restaurant especially stands out in the quality of service and amazing Spanish cuisine. They also have great drink options; my family especially loves their sangria and large wine selection. All the appetizers on their menu are carefully thought out and delicious. My favorites are the mushroom egg rolls, with a creamy aoili sauce, perfect for mushroom lovers. We also love the pulpo/octopus which is always cooked to perfection (very hard to find). Recently, we also tried their tuna ceviche which was super fresh and colorful. For entrees you can't go wrong with anything, but my personal favorite is the paella. This has all sorts of seafood like scallops and mussels, an authetic flavor, and the perfect amount of crispy rice on top. A must try!!

On the day that we went to Havana, it was sweltering hot. When we were seated next to the window, the waitstaff were nice enough to realize how hot the table was and moved us to a different location without us even asking. They then brought over a small little fruit bite appetizer that was specific to the day and quite tasty. Surprisingly, best part of the meal, by far, was their homemade bread they gave us to start. We had a warm blueberry bread that was incredible. I would consider going back to Havana just for this bread. The food was good overall- we went with very seafood forward options and were not disappointed. The tostadas were very good- flavorful and inventive, though hard to share. The tuna appetizer was okay, but I wish we had swapped it out for the pulpo, which looked really good. The halibut was perfectly cooked and came in a delicious sauce- I just wish the portion was slightly bigger because I ate it all so quickly! Overall, Havana had great service and a very nice atmosphere and proved to be a great refuge from the heat for us.

Best Lamb Chops I've ever had! The bartender was amazing and offered many suggestions on food and wine. We had the octopus; it was just okay, but everything else was wonderful, down to the complimentary fresh bread and homemade spreads.

We were able to squeeze in at the bar for a fun delicious evening at Havana. Great vibe, absolutely delicious food and drinks! We had the gambas appetizer (with incredibly delicious Sofrito sauce), halibut on a lovely asparagus purée, and the pistachio encrusted lamb rack. The bartender was so friendly (yummy mojito), and had such good menu suggestions. The owner came over to check in as well! We strongly recommend this special restaurant and definitely will be back!

Yes some of the items on the menu say it can be made vegetarian

How do people dress in the inside portion of Havana?

Good morning. Of course these days you see people in all attire, but I enjoy dressing nicely buying clothes weekly so with that said I wore a nice sleeveless dress that evening with some cute Jack Roger wedges. Enjoy your evening. Food was delicious!

We really enjoyed being able to park at the Bar Harbor Inn, either free self parking or free valet,…read moreto dine here, especially after paying sky high prices for parking in Bar Harbor all week. The dining room was like something out of a classic summer blockbuster resort movie, beautiful panoramic views of the Harbor, a grand piano player, classic upholstered chairs. We had 5:45 pm reservations for dinner Friday night and were shown a lovely table by the windows. Our server, Drew, was enthusiastic, attentive, and friendly. We ordered the maple old fashioned, gin spritz, blueberry lemonade, and Cadillac sunset. Cocktails were delicious. My son ordered two blueberry lemonade and exclaimed that these were the best he's had all week. He gets it wherever we go. For appetizers, we tried a watermelon burrata salad and beef carpaccio. The carpaccio was delicious, especially if you like dijon mustard. For dinners, kids ordered off the kids menu, chicken tenders, and lobster trap pasta. Both were healthy servings, served with the most deliciously addicting truffle fries, and they came with chocolate chip cookies. It was refreshing to see a reasonably priced kids menu at a fine dining establishment. Our dinners were a crab cake linguine special, and the Chilean sea bass. Both were perfectly cooked. The sea bass was light and the risotto that came with it al dente and not overly cheesy or overwhelming of the fish. The crab cake special was the star, made with locally fresh caught Jonah crab, so flavorful, and I could eat that linguine all day. The wine selection was decent. We got a half bottle of sancerre that complemented both seafood dinners well. We shared a blueberry pie and port wine for dessert. Pacing was wonderful for us, though I read others had trouble with this. We had appetizers and entrees within 30 minutes of sitting down. Drew took great care of us. The other waitstaff were also friendly. This was our favorite place to eat all week. Our kids said we should have eaten here more. Oh well, we saved the best for last. Thank you Reading Room!
