We were happy to see they were open for the 2024 season as there are still limited eating options in the area until the rest of the businesses open up full time for tourist season. Driving down Route 1 and I was hungry. Stopped here and it was quite the eclectic menu. They have standard seafood for the area and it was great. They also have some interesting Korean/Chinese dishes as well. Lobster Bisque and Fish Chowder were great. Egg rolls were exactly like I remembered as a child and the Scallop Dinner was great. If you are looking for excellent seafood, fresh fresh lobster and fish, you might pass by this take out restaurant on Route One , not too far from Ellsworth. We would not have stopped but for a recommendation from a local friend. We have eaten here three times this summer, and each time the food was excellent. The lobster rolls were generous and the coleslaw very tasty. The one day that they were out of lobster( !!! ) we tried the fish and chips and it was excellent too ! The breading was light, not too greasy and the fish super fresh. I was impressed by the generous portion size. Now I might consider doing the fish and chips instead of the lobster on our next visit. There is a nice outdoor seating area with picnic tables and umbrellas, and also a covered and screened in seating area, so you can sit protected from any Maine sprinkles. read more

Stopped by while driving to Bar Harbor and that was a great decision. Had a delicious Crab Roll with Cole Slaw and Chips for around $10. Most places around here are so expensive so I thought it was pretty affordable. They have a nice outdoor patio. read more

We come here every time we are in the area! Quality meals at reasonable prices. Never had anything we did not like! Korean food can be spicy, so be mindful if you don't tolerate spice. Can't believe we found great Korean food in Maine. The bibimbap is pretty good. The bulgogi was also very good. We wanted extra spice to it so we used the bibimbap sauce which made it perfect. I've been going here since I was a small child back when it was hot Diggity dog. We live in the area seasonally and have been here many many times. Yu picks their own crab there and it is very fresh, their crab rolls are excellent. I like Tracys but every once in a while theirs can be hit or miss. I guess that's the case for anywhere, and lobster rolls too; you take the occasional tough and/or unpleasantly fishy once every once in a while and grin and bear it *gulp* But what really do you really expect from a roadside eatery in Downeast maine? And what are your other options? I suggest you try them all and see for yourself! But keep in mind They're all staffed by family Members, hit or miss, severely short staffed, and doing the best they can so go eat there, support them and use my two cents as an informed decision. SO! The Korean food is for me, personally both uneatable and inedible. I'm sure it's good for rural maine, but it's heavy, greasy and many components of each dish are over cooked. When Downeast Mexican is such a consistently good shining beacon for authentic Mexican cuisine, in my opinion Yu's korean is kind of like the McDonald's or cafeteria equivalent of Korean food. The eggrolls I've had here are sadly mediocre. I only come here now for their fish sandwiches so I can really only give you a truly thorough review of those. Their fried haddock can range from very fresh good great excellent and flavorful to-- ugh they have not changed the frying oil in too long bland under salted and flavorless. If we order fish sandwich(es) we have found we must ask for extra mayo and a side of mayo because they are extremely stingy with toppings and condiments, even ketchup packets. And napkins. When and if you ask for lettuce tomato and onion on your sandwich there you rarely ever get all three. When you receive said lettuce onion and tomato on your sammich-- The tomato is flavorless, the lettuce is wilted iceberg and the onion has been pre-cut (perhaps the day before, and or soaked in water for onion rings) so naturally it doesn't have very much onion flavor. You have to go back to beg and plead an offer to pay for a small portion of sliced vegetable for your sandwich and get an eye roll in return. I suggest bringing your own lettuce tomato onion, mayo, ketchup, and lemon wedges here to save yourself the trouble of groveling for toppings. However their fries are excellent!!!!!! They never have cut lemons, they always run out so we don't order fried clams there. They also tend to run out of onion rings, which are DEELICIOUS. If you haven't had MAINE onion rings, you haven't lived. I don't like their chowder or traceys for that matter. But we love traceys, Yu's has different days and hours. The one thing I will note is that you uses a proper roll for their fish sandwich (it's not a Kaiser but at least it holds up, Tracey's rolls are cheap and chintzy and immediately disintegrate into bits which makes for a very messy eating experience... but both places are an elbow is on the picnic table vehicle speeding down the highway at 60 miles an hour 20 feet away kind of place so who cares). We ordered the lobster roll and a cheeseburger from the window and were greeted by friendly staff. We waited a very short time before our food came out. There is no indoor seating but a bunch of picnic tables outside. It was a nice day out so that was fine with us for a quick lunch. The lobster roll was delicious and I have to say, the cheeseburger was amazing! I love burgers that are cooked correctly and not perfectly round like a frozen patty. After a trip to Schoodic, my friend and I decided to give this place a try. My Aunt had raved about the egg rolls. My goodness, she was right. We had two orders of egg rolls and an order each of the chicken and the vegetable wontons. I think they must use air fryers because everything was super crispy, super fresh and not at all greasy. I definitely will be going again while in the area. We ordered and sat at one of their outdoor picnic tables not wanting to risk the food getting soggy by waiting till we got back to camp. This is a roadside tourist trap. The special was for 1 crab roll and 1 lobster roll. For $19. What they dont tell you is the size or how much meat they put in. I have had several lobster rolls and this place is by far the worst. Both rolls were very small with just a pinch of meat in each. I took all the crab out of 1 and put it in with the lobster. We ordered the chicken teriyaki skewers (delicious and lean), bi bin bop (excellent and authentic), fish chowder (meaty), Szechuan chicken (tasty), and fried chicken wontons (really good and crispy). When I'm in Maine, roadside seafood shacks are all I ever want. YU takeout fulfills this craving ten fold. I got a crab roll as a shift from the usual lobster, and it was perfect: warm crispy roll, jam packed with delicious, juicy crab, perfect ratio of meat to mayonase. No complaints here, price was very reasonable, especially for the area. The korean twist on classic New England seafood shack was fun too. My friend go the potstickers and loved them too. The fried clams were the star of our order. Beautifully well-prepared - not over-cooked, but still crunchy. Crab rolls were quite good but honestly I'd just assume make my own as around here you can get really fresh crab meet and crab rolls are not exactly a challenge, and many really good recipes online. Easy to pass by this place (and we did many times) as it looks like a tourist trap and the name is a bit cheesy. Ignore all that. We saw more local people here than any other restaurant we visited in the area. The prices are the best you are going to find. The staff are friendly and efficient albeit sometimes a bit dirty looking with stains on their t-shirts (hard workers!). Anything fried is delicious - perfectly cooked and not greasy. We tried the eggroll, fish, chicken tenders, and chicken nuggets. The french fries - don't get me started! Hot and crisp with a bit of breading that adds just the right crunch. We literally fought over these things. The lobster stew is served in a luscious cream sauce. There are no vegetables just lobster and the sauce. But boy is it good! The lobster roll has a bit of dressing, and they do take the extra step of toasting the roll which makes a huge difference. The crab rolls were another menu item we fought over. All white crab meat in a light dressing again on a toasted roll. These were to die for! Oddly enough(remember the name YU Take Out), the only thing we were disappointed in were the Korean ribs and fried rice . The ribs had more of a boiled texture and the fried rice had no flavor.
