We showed up on a Saturday at 5 o'clock end of August and got right in at Annex which is the same menu and attached. Waiters were helpful and kind, amazing people! Live music was going on at 7 but we left right before, awesome vibes doors to the outside open so it was basically an open air concept since it was a beautiful day. Clam chowder: super delicious and passed the spoon test! (I like my chowders thick so a spoon should float on top) Bangin Shrimp: seasoning and sauce were bangin! Great stuff and the buttery grilled flamed pita added a beautiful touch Cadillac fries: crispy fries with melty cheese, hot sauce, bbq sauce, chipotle mayo and toooed with bacon. We inhaled these. Mac + rac: fall off the bone rips and the Mac was killer. Mixed in with street corn added a great change up and all went so well together. After driving the 27-mile loop road of Acadia National Park, we stopped back at our motel and realized we were too tired to go out to lunch. However, we weren't too tired to eat it, so we had the food delivered from Side Street Cafe. So glad we did it that way cuz it was terrific... and easy to arrange ! My hubby ordered their Cubano sandwich while I ordered a cheeseburger. He loved his Cubano, which came with a side of mac 'n cheese. The mac 'n cheese was light in flavor, I think because of the kind of cheese used. I prefer more flavor, but it wasn't bad either. My( burger was quite large, and it was really tasty... very nicely seasoned beef patty, and it had all the things I like... cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle.... and catsup. I was very happy. It came with fries, but I had my fill of fries with all the lobster rolls I had ordered along the way, so I didn't eat them. Plus, there was a slice of blueberry pie calling out to me, so I wanted to blow my calories with the pie... and so glad I did cuz it was another spectacular piece of blueberry pie. The best slice of blueberry pie I have maybe ever had in my life. It's worth coming here for that alone. While visiting Bar Harbor, my friend, and I stopped here for lunch after a long morning of hiking in Acadia. It was the perfect comfy, carb loaded meal that we were looking for! I got the create your own mac & cheese, and it was delicious. Such a huge serving, that I probably could have shared it! Our server was also lovely and so helpful while deciding what to order. We sat outside in their patio because it was such a nice day, though their indoor seating also looked nice. But the highlight for me was the pie. Such a perfect balance of crust versus filling, crystallized sugar on top to add a sweet crunch, and a nice generous scoop of vanilla ice cream to go with it. It was packed on a rainy day! We only had to wait a few minutes for a table though. They do have outdoor seating, but with the rain, we sat inside. Service was friendly. Clam Chowder: creamy, but on the thinner side. There were a decent amount of clam chunks. Bangin Shrimp Mac: definitely a bangin sauce. I enjoyed the kick that the sauce added. This was my favorite meal over our three days in Bar Harbor. This place gets very busy during peak season but has so much seating between the main restaurant and the annex. I was honestly kind of disappointed, $40 for the lobster roll and a $5 upgraded if you want a side other than potato chips! The roll could have used more mayo or sauce or something, it's only available cold. The lobster melt was better, but it's hard to not taste good on warm sourdough with melt cheese. The thing that stands out about this place is the service; that's about it. Our server Niko was awesome! I got the bulgogi lettuce wraps which were on flimsy pieces of lettuce, served with rice that was not flavored. My husband got the lobster grilled cheese and said it was NOT worth it. As the name suggests, the "Side Street Cafe" is one-block off Main Street in Bar Harbor, literally on a side-street. Surrounded by flowering plants upon entering you'll find d a low ceiling with rough hand hewn beams. The restaurant can be a bit loud but this is managed by open windows and outdoor seating. The hamburger is listed as a smash burger ... but it is not a true smash burger... but that doesn't diminish its taste. Very juicy and an overall great burger. The Lobster Roll was excellent. Side Street Cafe is located very close to main street on Rodick Street. It is worth the stop for any meal. We did not have any wait when we arrived which was surprising as it looked packed. We were seated on their outside deck overlooking Rodick Street. We ordered drinks, an app, and entrees. My drink was a blueberry mint lemonade l. It had a punch of tartness and was very pretty. Our app was the Rodick Street Corn. It arrived at the table smothered in the Old Bay crema but you could also taste the lime and tajin. It was delicious! For my meal, I went with the firecracker burger with candied bacon, slaw and cheddar on a country roll. It typically comes with chips but I swapped those for sweet potato fries. First of all, candied bacon? Yes, please. The surprising part was the country roll. It was the perfect pairing with the burger. I ate every last bite. The sweet potato fries were some of the best I've had. They were perfectly cooked with the right amount of salt. This place has over 2600 reviews #worthit. I anticipated having to wait but we got there at the perfect time, they were opening up another section of the restaurant for seating. So maybe 5 minutes. Everything we ordered was fabulous, the drinks, the food, the fish, the fries, even the black bean patty. I've literally been talking about the black bean patty for days. We also had a side of Mac and cheese, yum! They also offer some molding clay to help keep the kids entertained. July 2025: My husband and I stopped at Side Street Cafe because we wanted to have our first Lobster Roll and Clam Chowder at a highly recommended place and this was it based on reviews. We dined outside for lunch on the patio where it was dog friendly, since we had our 10 lb dog with us. We only had to wait about 10-15 minutes for seating. The clam chowder was good and flavorful, the lobster roll was very simple and minimalist. The main focus was the fresh lobster and buttered toasted bread, not so much the condiments. I considered it a little bland for me but I love adding pepper and hot sauce to my food. lol Also, our waitress, Harmony, was very friendly and provided great service.
