No joke, in all honesty just passing through and the $12.50 sign for a regular cut peaked my interest. I went inside and I was denied a haircut/barber service, sign says. The sole reason. Is ecause I don't look like the other people in Little Saigon. The two Money is money I thought, but when I asked if I can have a haircut they just looked down and speaking another language to their clients while looking at me periodically then whispering again. I then asked shins and spoke up clearly if I can get a haircut ? They once again displayed the same demeanor towards me. With the quick side to side NO and avoiding eye contact was enlightening . We're passed this and better than this now. Money is money, business is business and customer service is vital. Felt storing enough to write my experience with Mai's Barbers and how behind we are with humanity. We're all better than this. Mai...WTF is this all about. Great service and well greeting and friendly clean barber highly recommended because it's reasonable

The staff there don't listen to the customer's opinion. They cannot focus on cutting my hair and do it as if they don't have the passion for Barber. I told her my hair length was not balanced on both sides, and they blamed that I had a head bump on the left side. And they cannot fix it, omg!!! Really? My hair is cut by many hair salons and I've never received any comments like that. I don't know if their skills are good enough to follow this career. A small good quick chop shop for Men's haircuts $5 =) +1 No Frills place good for Men's haircuts, but they don't wash your hair for $5 (they do women's haircut & styling too but I wouldn't recommend it) They have small little chairs in a crowded corner for you to sit & wait your turn. Mai's barbershop is a great place to get your hair cut while you wait for your parents/spouse/friends to shop at the Asian shun fai supermarket, which this ship is inside of. Even though it's cheap for hair cuts here, my stylist asked me how it looked throughout the cut so I didn't feel like I was ignored. I don't speak Vietnamese but their English is good enough for anyone to tell them what they want. read more

Honestly, they do not open on time. Stated on their door was 9:00 am. No one showed up til 9:30am with a few people waiting for them. When I went and sat in the chair, the lady I had looked pretty nice. And then it went down hill from there. At first it was nice because we were having a conversation. But she was too deep in conversation and she messed up my hair. She cut in places I asked her not to cut. She buzzed in places when I asked her to used scissors and clip places where she was suppose to buzzed. To be quite frank, a five year old could of given me this haircut. On top of that, they decided to speak in Vietnamese to each other thinking I was not Vietnamese. I understood what they were saying and it was pretty sketched. Came here for my boyfriend for a quick men's cut on a busy Saturday morning. Waited for around 15 mins and we were in. He showed a picture of the style he wanted and the stylist went to work. She was fast but precise. At $7 a cut, she was sure efficient! Did the cut, cleaned up the edges and even properly cleaned him off. I'm assuming it's cash only. For their service: I came at night, and when I entered, they didn't seem too happy to help me. They seem very lazy... "Service with 'no' smile." For the haircut: I usually cut my hair myself at home, as I usually get a buzzcut; however, I wanted to get a fade. I asked for recommendations for what clipsize I should cut my hair at, but they did not at all give me any recommendations. So i decided on my own. I'm not satisfied with my haircut as it looks like I could have probably cut my own hair, and should've. I went to another salon first, but it was closed, so I decided to go here. If you're on a tight budget, and you just want the job done, I would recommend this place. This place would be a good for people on tight budgets, and for children. Mai's is a great little place for a simple haircut for men at an affordable price. Most of the time I am very satisfied with my haircut, and fewer times I am only marginally satisfied and think that it could be better. All of the people who have cut my hair understand enough English for a simple haircut description, but if you don't speak Vietnamese it can be difficult when trying to explain or request certain things. In my humble opinion, going to Mai's sure beats paying more at a chain. read more

I didn't like my eyebrow wax nor my eyelash extension here. The service was okie. The eyebrow was uneven and ugly. They charged 75$ for one by one extension, and the eyelashes were super thin, my real eyebrow even thicker than what they did. She made one of the lashes longer than the others so she chopped the top of that one off which made it looks awful. Don't go here for any of those services. read more

for men who do not really have a particular care about their hair, sure. for women... i suggest no. You really are paying for a cheap haircut. when i went there, the woman hurt my scalp brushing my hair. Plus, she could not speak english so communication was poor as fuck, as one would say. I went a couple weeks ago to get my hair colored (not the hair in my pic...that's from like a year ago) a sort of auburn color. I thought my hair would be stripped, then dyed, but that was not so. The color was put straight on and as a result, my hair came out tri-colored after sitting there baking for three hours. I had a black streak running horizontally through the left side of my hair and my roots were obviously darker than the rest of the hair! I was visibly upset about the discoloration so the stylist offered to fix it the next day for $10, then recanted and instead offered to fix it for free. Had I put up the review then, I probably would have given a much lower rating, but I came back early the next morning to have it redyed. After baking for another two and a half hours, my hair looked MUCH BETTER! The roots are still a little darker than the rest of my hair and I notice some variation in shades, but for $35 + tip, it's a pretty good job. I usually pay $130+ for the same dye job...$200+ when I go blonde, but now that times are tough and my wallet is thin, a $35 dye job suits me just fine. **Oh, also a good idea to bring a friend that speaks Vietnamese. I had A LOT of trouble communicating with my stylist and vice versa. read more
