They have a whole list of cider if you're into that. People here are nice and friendly. It was nice and cool inside during the summer with ample seating. This place had some of the best tasting wine in Palisade. Yes, I know, everything is subjective. However, where other wineries all had varietals that seemed to taste the exact same, these were flavorful and distinct. PLUS, cider! We came in winter, during COVID so it was thankfully pretty slow. We got the red sampler (where you get a discount if you buy a bottle) and then several individual cider samples. The gal working was incredibly kind, attentive and even provided a list of places in Denver/the Springs we could get the wine again, without the travel. I LOVED the Bourbon Merlot even though I haven't ever been a huge Merlot girl. I found the Tempranillo to be exceptionally smooth. I loved the spicy/chili cider. It was so refreshing and also, really unique. I can't wait to go back. read more

So I did like the facility, but this location was last on our winery tour list for the day. We hadn't gone to too many, but out of all the wineries I liked their wine the least and didn't actually purchase any. HOWEVER, I appreciate the beauty of the facility and the rustic atmosphere. My daughter loves foxes and so the fence decorations were a neat touch. The bar tenders were super helpful and I could tell they had a fun friendly reputation, because several people came that were regulars and they had a great time. I didn't get to check out their ciders, because of time, and I am super bummed because I do love ciders. I plan on going back to taste their ciders. It's not that their wine was bad, I had just had so much this day and with them being the last I don't feel I appreciated it as much as I would if it was the first location. I do highly recommend this place however. The indoor/outdoor patio is beautiful. The tasting was cheap and I appreciate how they broke the tasting up in sections so you could select preferred flights. It's not a location I will avoid, I plan on coming back. read more

Would not bother stopping here. I've never seen worse service. They had three tables, gave us menus and told us to sit down. There were 4 people working and never came to get our order (or anyone elses). We even moved inside and still... nothing. Why not just tell us to order at the counter? I really had high hopes for this place. A cidery and a winery? A winning combination. Sadly, both were lackluster to me. My friend and I did both a wine tasting and a cider flight. On the positive side, the cider flight includes all of their ciders and they serve it on this fun little round tray so that you can navigate the round yourself. Unfortunately, I didn't like any of the wines and only a couple of the ciders. The standouts were the chile cider and the bourbon barrel-aged cider. I know they rotate ciders seasonally, so I would probably consider coming back to taste new ones or give some of the others another try. All that being said, I love the tasting room. Very rustic chic, with what looks to be up cycled products and materials used throughout. And, I love how they make "mixed drinks" with their ciders and wines. I didn't try one because, again, I wasn't in love with the wines or ciders in the first place. But, I love the concept. read more

This winery was our least favorite of 4 that we went to. First there were only 2 tables inside. One for 4 and one for 2. The 4 top table was taken so we had to sit outside. There were 2 umbrellas and it didn't even shade the chairs that were there. The wine selection was scarce. They had a limited selection that consisted of mostly all reds. They had no white wines available. The tastings were $4 for 4 tastings. If you purchased a bottle from that section of tastings your fee was waved. We got 2 different tastings and found 1 that we liked well enough to buy. The cider tastings were $10.50 (If I remember correctly) for all 8. My sister ordered that and liked half of them. The wine cocktails they had looked interesting and were $9 each, we did not order those. Overall it was okay but not great. There are better wineries to check out. And not having shade but having to sit outside was really a turn off. read more

I really liked this place. Red Fox, along with another winery I tried for the first time, actually uses grapes grown in Colorado. This quite honestly shocked me. Free tastings as well as paid. The long day rose was so good. I don't know why I didn't buy a bottle. My gf got the ample cider tasting and drank all but maybe two of them. The staff is super sweet. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and the hostess was great! I enjoyed the information and recommendations the hostess gave us. Very comfortable and laid back setting. I felt so relaxed I will be coming back. Complimentary wine tastings of all their wines and you can do a flight of four n their hard cider for 5 bucks! Loved their rose and Merlot and left with two bottles. We didn't care for the hard cider but we also have never tried that before. Loved their wines! So unique!!! read more

I love coming here and sitting on the deck or at the cool inside tables (when it is too hot outside). Red Fox is known for some red wines aged in bourbon barrels. I hate bourbon, so am not a fan of this wine. But you might be! The non-bourboned red wine is very good. And they have about a half dozen ciders. Also, they make some very fun, fruity wine cocktails that are a summer delight. The tasting room has a fun, modern-casual vibe that makes coming back easy. You can get tastes or order a flight of wines or ciders. I recommend you do a preliminary taste and then do a flight. That guarantees a fun afternoon. You can also buy a bottle of wine or take home a freshly pulled bottle of cider. No food is served other than some bread or pretzels. This is sad, but they only have a tasting room health certificate. There is an occasional food truck here. That is fabulous! read more

Decided to write a review because I'm stopping here for my second May in a row on the way to Moab for a camping weekend with friends. It is a must-visit if you're passing through Palisade (which is a beautiful place to pass through by the way!) Last May, we stopped here on our way to Moab and did a cider flight. We also stopped at a winery but I can say that Red Fox's ciders were the standout memories from that day. I'm not even remotely a cider drinker (my go-to's are IPAs, pale ales, and wine) and my fiance and I were so, so impressed. We brought home a few bombers of the green chile cider which was so delicious and unexpected. What I like about their cider is it's not overly sweet, it's lighter bodied than other ciders, and the flavors are unexpected and creative but spot-on in terms of balance and flavor. We also loved the vibes here - I'd describe it as relaxed and happy. People were just sort of relaxing outside in the sun, sipping on cider, and eating snacks. I think I remember a food truck but I could be inventing a memory. Love this place! Can't wait to see what they're serving this year. read more

This was one of our favorite stops while in Palisade. We arrived around noon on Sunday and we had the place to ourselves. Great service and even better cocktails (wine cocktails). Tried the Old Fashion and the Peach Bellini, both were fantastic. They had some great music playing, not sure what Pandora station it was, but we had a great time at this laid back winery. Stopped by this place in addition to two other nearby wineries when out biking in Palisade on a Saturday with a friend. Was excited by the prospect of some of the wine-alternative options as they have ciders and mixed drinks based on their offerings as well. When we arrived it was pretty busy. We were able to get a table, but on the whole, there wasn't good spacing despite it being Covid era. (This was a real turnoff as a couple of women nearby were talking about being tested earlier that week...SMH). As others note, it is pretty exposed to sunlight, so it was also quite scorching, even in mid-October. Ambience is definitely not as much of a feature as some of the other nearby locations (it overlooks a big empty gravel/paved lot). It took a very long time for us to locate our server to order a drink, and even longer to get it. I got the lavender lemonade cider mixed drink and enjoyed it a lot; my friend got the strawberry (basil I believe?) one and was pretty disappointed with how sweet it was (they use Faygo red pop in it, FYI). Didn't get a chance to try anything beyond that, given the delays. read more

I'll get it out of the way, I'm not a big fan of their wines. BUT I AM a big fan of their ciders! This is one of my favorite cidery (sp?) in town and I never come to Palisade without getting a cider flight. I've been coming here for a few years and the cider is consistent so I know it is always going to be crisp and each cider has its own distinct flavor so I challenge you to find a cider in the flight that you don't like. It has a nice setup that is a bit different than most of the other wineries. It's a bit more "modern" in that it isn't your standard foofy winery. I love to sit outside when it isn't too hot. There isn't a ton of space outside and despite umbrellas, the patio can get pretty toasty. However, when you're enjoying the cooling relief of cider, it's nothing but a cool breeze. read more

Wow! Great winery with some tasty stuff! We did the complimentary tasting and loved the Long Day Rosé! Then we got a flight of the ciders and got to try some new and exciting flavors. We are going back here and will have to try one of the specialty cocktails. What sets this place apart was the atmosphere and setting. First, the entire staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. They made you feel welcome and comfortable. Sometimes wineries make you feel like you have to be on a certain level just to get in, and if you're not, it's like they just want you out. Not this place! They have nice indoor and outdoor seating with nice views of the mesas and even had a food truck and outdoor activities to keep busy. If you like the feel of microbreweries, this is similar; just an easygoing time with delicious drink options! read more

We have been there 3 times. Nice tasting room atmosphere is positive - negative is the customer service. Just terrible. 2 of the 3 times we visited we were told it was just about closing time and only could sell to go orders. Both times we arrived about 10 minutes to close. This last time as Covid restrictions had just been lifted one would expect businesses to be glad you are making the effort. Not here. It was more important to not keep the doors unlocked 1min past 5pm. Not even a 'sorry please come back - our wines are so worth it - please make the effort to return - - - nothing but we're closing. As we drove away we looked at each other and said at almost the same time 'can you believe they just did that - again? Especially now?' Tastings include 4-6 wines, delivered to you at a table. Friendly staff who are very knowledgeable about the product. We drove by the signs as we were heading to another winery and noted that Red Fox Cellars was not one we'd seen in the guide books. While at the other place, the owner there asked us if we'd stopped at the Red Fox and we said we hadn't heard of it until we drove down the street! He told us it was quite new and strongly advised that we visit... and we were glad we did! If you love real cider you must come here! We loved the cider tasting and were gutted to find out that they're not bottling it yet. So, naturally we had to sit in the sun and down a quick cider before we left (they still sell it to drink in the tasting room - or outside on the deck in our case). The owners are super nice and will stand and chat and explain what they do and how they do it. The wines are nice too and we came home with a bottle of the 44, but I have to admit, I went there (and would go back) for the cider. read more

Loved this laid-back winery! Full wine menu sampling was complimentary, and the sample pours were large enough to give you a few sips and really taste the wine (and be sure to read the descriptions on the flight menu - someone at Red Fox has a gift for descriptive writing!). The staff was very welcoming and friendly - you really feel like you're amongst friends here. Their wine offerings were pretty good. If you love bourbon/whiskey AND red wine, they have two reds that are aged in whiskey/bourbon barrels: rye whiskey barrel aged cab franc & bourbon barrel merlot. Those were my two favs! I had to grab a few bottles to ship back to Ohio! They also had a fun menu of wine cocktails, which were super refreshing on a HOT July day, and a nice change of pace from a day of drinking wine. They were happy to make their lavender lemonade without alcohol so the pregnant women in our party could enjoy a fun drink, too! There are two larger tables inside and there is an outdoor seating area with umbrella tables and some cornhole out back (no shade cover for cornhole playing, FYI).
