I brought my car for alignment service in December on a saturday, however, the problem of my car was bigger than just doing some alignment. I was given a quote and I submitted a claim to my insurance company. I was also adviced to leave the car there because it wouldn't be safe to drive it. So, I left my car there, and they provided lyft for me to get to the rental cars. The advisor told me to let my insurance company know that he's off on monday, and he was the one who knows what was going on with the car. I did what he told me. But Geico estimator still went there on monday. The advisor wasn't there, the estimator had to ask somebody else, and that person told the estimator that nothing's wrong and it was just a simple alignment issue. So I sent the estimator my pictures that the tire was very crooked. The estimator called the advisor the next day, and the estimator had a better idea of what was going on. They had to run the alignment as per Geico's protocol and when they get the report that it fails all alignment tests, that's when Geico can say OK for the repair. So here comes thursday, the estimator went there again to pick up the report, the advisor wasn't there. And nobody knew where the report was kept. When the estimator told me that, I called Subaru Maita, and asked to speak with the advisor, the advisor wasn't there, he called out sick. I had nothing against him calling out sick but what annoyed me so much was that nobody knew where that alignment report was. I asked if I could talk to a supervisor, and I was told that the supervisor was already on vacation. It was really driving me crazy about all the delays because of the lack of system. My car got repaired by thursday of the following week. After a day of driving, I called them again, and let them know that the alignment was off, it wasn't that bad but it was noticeable. I had to bring my car back to get fixed again. Another story, I left it early in the morning at 7am, I even had an appointment, I was waiting for their call for me to get my car . No calls until I called them at around 12pm. I learned that they hadn't even started fixing my car. So I had to tell the advisor that I need to get to work at 4pm which was true that's why I booked an early appointment. It got fixed after an hour, and the advisor booked me a lyft. To wrap it all, my car is doing fine now. But I'm still baffled what happened there. I'm a patient person but the way they run the business drove me mad. I wasn't happy with the customer service. Giving 2 stars because they fix my car and it is working. PS: I haven't received any customer satisfaction survey. Feel free to send me one, Subaru. read more

I could not be more disappointed in my choice to buy a Subaru Crosstrek, and I urge anyone living in warm climates to avoid purchasing this car at all costs. I test drove and purchased this car during in February 2019, and as temperatures in winter here are quite cool - and no one at Subaru volunteered this information - I had no way of knowing that the car's air conditioner literally blows warm air any time you are using the gas pedal. I loved everything about my Crosstrek until that first summer, when I noticed that anytime I used the gas (and I don't' just mean when I'm getting on the freeway or when I'm accelerating at a fast rate. Even in stop and go traffic on surface streets, after stop signs or red lights, or increasing my speed by 2 mph) the air immediately blows about 20 degrees warmer (or more, we've tested this with thermometers) until I am off the gas and coasting, braking, or at a stop. Now, if I lived in many areas of the United States this would not be a big issue. But here, in Northern California, where temperatures are regularly in the triple digits at least 4 months of every year - this is a huge deal. I dread using my car in the summer months. Often it is so hot, even with the AC on full blast, that I opt to roll the windows down instead when it is above 95 degrees outside. I've brought my car to get looked at 4 separate times for this problem, and each time the response is the same - they can do nothing about it, because the 2 cylinder car was designed to shut off power from the AC compressor in order to power the engine when using the gas. I now understand this explanation, but it does not make it any less infuriating that they would sell this car in the dead of winter with no mention of this intentional design, especially living in a location where it gets extremely hot every single summer. This is not only disappointing and maddening, but intensely irresponsible and dishonest on behalf of Subaru. We are now preparing to start a family and I honestly do not feel safe putting a baby or child in the backseat of the car. Having spent the money I saved for a decade on this vehicle, I no longer have the option of making a better choice for my family. I was recently contacted by Subaru of America, who acknowledged that while the designs behind this specific behavior of the car have been updated since 2019, there is nothing they can do to help me since the car was literally designed to do this. They did offer a $500 credit for service parts, but also said that there is no service that will fix the issue of my AC blowing warm air - so unfortunately while a kind gesture, not at all helpful. I could not regret this purchase more, and I urge anyone living in warmer climates to avoid purchasing the Subaru Crosstrek at all costs. I do want to make one note that my most recent interaction with a Maita Subaru service advisor (named Matt) was very positive. After seeking help on this issue numerous times over the past 2 years, Matt was the first person to really listen to me, to care, and to do everything he could to try to help me. His hands are clearly tied as Subaru of America has no plans of amending the design flaw (while acknowledging that it exists), but I appreciated his above-and beyond efforts to help a customer and I do not want this review to reflect on his performance in any way. read more

He had me in a rental, informed me of how long the service will approximately take and kept me updated. They were able to figure out the issue and thankfully the part was under warranty. Recently in a car accident I just wanted an easy process vehicle purchase without hassle or reminding my seller of my needs. After being frustrated at a dealership in Roseville I headed over 30 minutes before close to Subaru (I know, I was that guy). I met Jose who then showed me all the cars I wanted, stayed late with me, and even helped me start the credit process so they could try and get approved first thing the next day. Not only did they work on my case, but they helped me really get the best deal with the best vehicle. After searching other lots I really do think Maita has the best vehicles at the best prices, many under Kelly Bluebook suggested. Jose got me into a great car and Michael was awesome in financing. We had our check engine light come on in our '15 Forester with diagnosis code P0171: System too lean. Took the car to our mechanic who advised us to take it to the dealer because it is more than likely the O2 sensor and it is covered by warranty. So we took it to Maita Subaru who ended up trying to gouge us by saying that the right camshaft is leaking so much that it was leaking onto the O2 sensor and that's why we kept getting the check engine light. They recommended resealing the right camshaft and then tried to recommend that the left camshaft should be as well for "precaution" with a total of $2850!!! They charged us $204 for the diagnosis fee and we took the car back to our mechanic who checked into what Maita said and told us, NO, it's the O2 sensor. Research on this diagnosis code shows a very high percentage is that the O2 sensor causes this issue. He cleaned up everything around the right camshaft and that there was nothing wrong with it. Had him replace our O2 sensor and guess what...no check engine light. This should have been covered under warranty and not cost us a cent but these dealer service centers make up stuff like this camshaft so they don't have to do free work on their warranties for a faulty O2 sensor. I will never understand why anyone wastes their time and money and go to dealer shops just to be ripped off and price gouged. Take your vehicle to small business shops. Very unhappy and should get a refund for the diagnosis fee along with the bill I had to pay my mechanic to fix the problem that Subaru should have fixed in the first place under warranty. The technician that recommended we do something that wasn't even the reason why our check engine light was on should be reprimanded for a false diagnosis. We paid over $800 to get our problem fixed and it was no help going to you guys for a false diagnosis. If we would have been gullible and gone with your technician's false diagnosis recommendation we would be in the hole $2600. It cost us $204 for a false diagnosis report and then another $608 to have the real problem fixed, the O2 sensor, and not this false diagnosis of the camshaft causing the O2 sensor to trigger the check engine light. This all should have been covered from the emissions warranty but your technicians will make up anything to avoid a free service covered under warranty but I'm sure they're trained to do so. Very dishonest and untrustworthy. read more

I have given these guys a couple chances, but now I am moving on. I had even pre-paid for services, which they did refund to me. During a regular maintenance, they failed to contact me for the additional things like replacing burnt bulbs and rear wiper. They agreed to do that for free, when I brought it to their attention. I made appointment for 9am on Saturday, and arrived, checked in, and was told it would be about an hour. About an hour and a half later, I checked in to see what was happening. They informed me that I was second in line....for them to START! When I asked how that worked, I was informed that my "appointment time" was a check in time only, and really doesn't mean anything. Maita Subaru refused to complete 1 of 2 recalls issued from Subaru. I called them two weeks in advanced to schedule the appointment, however they refused to complete one of the recalls due to the recall not being a "safety recall. They then had me call Subaru corporate to request for them to pay for the recall or else I would have to pay for it myself out of pocket. This was all after sitting in my vehicle for 15 minutes while waiting for a service advisor that never came out to assist until I walked into the lobby as their courtesy bay was blocked by all the cars waiting to be serviced so they couldn't see me waiting in my car per their service department sign's instruction. Needless to say I will be taking my business elsewhere as to avoid the unnecessary headache in the future. I'm giving them 2 stars since they fixed one of the recalls (safety recall). read more

Think of a typical car dealership experience... this is that. Saw a car advertised on True Car, asked to see it and was told "we have it but I don't know where it is, let me show you another one just like it." While it was similar, it was 1k more without being worth the 1k more (had more miles than the one advertised and same packages). Additionally, the salesman tried to get us to put lots of money down to try to get us a loan without ever actually running our credit, and turns out, we didn't need to (so he wasted our time and his breath). Long story short, great cars, not horrible prices (you could get it a bit cheaper if you try), but nothing special about the experience. If I would have had more time, I would have middled that out of the sale or gone elsewhere because it could have just been our salesman. In the future, I'll just find the car I want for the price I want and walk away if they "can't find it" until they magically do... and I suggest you do the same. I gave it three stars because they're great cars, and the price was decent. read more

In August I got a great deal on a 2018 3.6 outback. At least I thought it was a great deal until I started reading online some of the issues with this car. They head unit and radio Bluetooth backup camera is defective. From my understanding Subaru was aware of this issue prior to selling me the car. They did take my car back and replace the head unit give me a rental while the work was done within a week. I was assertive letting them know this was my rolling office. They neglected to give me (or respond to emails regarding) our gift card for test driving. I called them they were very sweet on the phone with that very nice voice message stating someone would get back to me this week. We shall see! read more

These guys wouldn't give us a price breakdown, didn't have answers to our questions, and just weren't friendly. They didn't know the inventory they had on site, required us to wear a mask but kept taking his mask off. Very frustrating. I was looking online at cars and found one I liked through car fax saying the car was here. I call the guy and set everything up because I did not want to drive two hours out to find out the car is shitty or for some reason not being able to get it etc. I get there and it's pouring rain, they were cool enough to show me that there was a scratch on the car and I accepted it BUT not telling me there is a chip on the windshield ... I call and they say they would fix it no problem ... making the situation better. They called me and said bring it up Saturday and we can get it replaced, I dropped off my car Friday night and waited on Saturday til almost 2 ... 2 hours before they closed to find out they brought the wrong windshield and how they cannot do my windshield ... driving 2 hours there. Two hours back home to two hours back to the dealer to not leave with why I came in in the first place and will have to come back AGAIN when they have the RIGHT windshield for my car. Wasting a lot of gas, a lot of miles and my time that I will not get back. People were rude, hung up in my face and wanted to talk to their coworkers than help out and do their jobs. We have a Subaru and been happy with the dealer and the car for the most part. Unfortunately Subaru has "emergency roadside service" that you call at 800 261-2155 but there is no one to talk to as you are calling a computer. You will NOT talk to a human if you call the number and if you can figure out what to do when you call the number then you are lucky as the directions are confusing. We also have AAA due to our other car so we then called them as Subaru emergency service would not help us in the rain and in the dark. Mind you we called before 5:00 p.m. on a week day! Not only did AAA help us, they sent a survey asking us if we were happy with their service. No such survey from Subaru about their phantom emergency roadside service. read more

Purchased a used jeep wrangler and learned they had put on cheap tires not rated for the vehicle. Called the dealer and was told to check the door jamb for the correct tires and that was what should be on the car.The door jamb showed the tires were not the standard for the vehicle. I had replacements put on and contacted the dealership for a partial credit request. I was told the sales manager who told me to check the door jamb was not correct and they owed is nothing. I called Maita because they were the nearest dealership. When they got there the shop was closed, but David White personally added a quart of oil, and didn't laugh when I thought we were going to need a funnel etc. (a problem when adding oil in the last century). Unbelievable service provided by Maita Subaru! It was my birthday weekend and we were on our way to Tahoe for the weekend from Santa Cruz when we got stranded on the side of the road with an overheated Outback in Davis in the middle of 5pm traffic with 2 kids and a dog. We called Maita Subaru to ask if we could get it towed there and Matthew said that they closed at 6 but that they would wait for us. It turns out the tow truck took close to 2 hours to get there, so we didn't show up to Maita until 7pm and Matthew was there waiting for us. This was just the very beginning of his exceptional service. We rented a car and continued on with our trip to Tahoe. Matthew called first thing the next morning with a diagnosis - unfortunately a clogged radiator and warped cylinder head. The amount of work was going to have them keep the car for at least a week. Matthew offered us a FREE subaru outback rental to drive back to Santa Cruz for the time being. He also offered to drive my car down to Santa Cruz once it was repaired. This was over and above incredible service in our minds. Due to the exceptional service from Matthew and Maita Subaru, I was able to enjoy my birthday weekend and drive a beautiful 2017 Subaru for a week while they performed the necessary repairs. This review is specifically about the car leasing experience we had with Daniel Espero. He was absolutely wonderful! I had been in at a previous time to get a general idea of what to expect in terms of monthly lease payments and options as my previous lease was ending, but didn't get all the information I needed to make a decision. Daniel initiated reaching out and called to follow up and was so helpful and informative. He got me estimates right away and helped me understand the options. When we came into test drive he was the same: helpful, informative, easygoing and not pushy like so many car salespeople. He was so nice to our little son, bringing him snacks and chatting with him throughout the long paperwork process. And, he helped get us an awesome deal! We'd been to several dealerships before this and I was getting really worn out with pushy and abrasive salespeople that seemed cagey about giving you full information. Daniel was the opposite, he gave us all the exact numbers up front, no vague comments, and worked hard for us. I have been to this facility 3 times for my car. Once for the scheduled maintenance. The wait was over 3 hours and they do not have many appointments available. The maintenance staff was very polite but the woman who answers the phone is consistently rude every time I call. The maintenance went OK so I decided to go back. I went back with a flat tire because I hit a curb. I called and talked to the rude woman who answers the phone and she told me to come in. When I got there they said they would have to replace my tire and possibly the rim. I was then told that the tire was not in stock and it would be ordered and that it would be there in 3 days. 5 days later I still had no tire. I was then told that the person who orders tires forgot to order it. Finally, one week later I was told the tire was ready. I informed them again that I had hit a curb and asked if anything else needed to be repaired. I was charged $250 for a tire and told everything was fine. As soon as I got on the highway, I heard strange sounds and noticed that my steering wheel had to be slanted to go straight. I took the car back to them after dealing with the rude lady on the phone again. I was then told I had to wait for a while as they try to fit me in. 2 hours later I was told that my strut was bent but that they could not fix it then. They gave me an estimate of around $700 to replace it which included balancing the tires for $100. When I asked about the balancing they took it off the bill. So now I had an estimate of $600. I had at that point decided to shop around because I didn't think the pricing was right. I called the other Subaru dealer in Elk grove and had an entirely different experience. They had a polite person to answer the phone and were able to fix my car in a more timely manner. The biggest surprise was the price. $375 to fix the strut and around $50 extra to straighten the wheel. WAY LESS!! I then got another tire ruined. I knew not to go to the Subaru in Sacramento so I called a local shop. For $50 I got a new tire (exactly the same as the original), it was in stock and on my car in 15 minutes. I will never go back to this location. Hundreds of dollars more than anywhere else for the same parts and services, the horrible wait, and the attitude of the lady on the phone will keep me at the other Subaru dealer for repairs and the local tire shop for my tires. read more
