Took my Subie here for a four wheel alignment. It's more expensive than anywhere else but I didn't want to risk it when it comes to alignments and I've heard too many horror stories with other non-dealership places, so I was willing to pay more for the professional work done here since they have all the right equipments and do this all the time on subies. They also did a complimentary multipoint inspection. The alignment's before and after specs were printed out, and the inspection notes were sent as a link via text, and it even included a video summary. Everything was done in under 2 hours. I was even offered a ride home and back, but I declined and didn't mind waiting. They have some coffee, hot chocolate, and small snacks in the waiting area. The service advisor who helped me out was Sulaiman, and he was great. I appreciate the advice and help! read more

We agreed on a price over the phone and I drove down there (long drive). When I got there, they tried tacking on $5,000.00 worth of garbage and I was not too happy. I didn't want to spend my day buying a car or haggling with sales people. I didn't buy their addons. They didn't show me any of the features on the vehicle except how to turn on the hazards, hooked up my phone and sent me on my way. One big thing they forgot: To take the dealer security system OFF before I drove home. When I tried to start the vehicle again, it would not start. grrrrr.... KARR who handles their systems was amazing! They sent a tech out to my house (2 hours from the dealer) and he immediately removed their system. The receptionist is sooo sweet and nice! I really appreciated her. She has the cutest little dog! They were very nice and made sure I was comfortable but getting there at 1PM and leaving at 5PM is NOT my idea of a good time. Never again. I was really disappointed with my experience at Elk Grove Subaru (EGS). I decided to start there with my new car journey because as I was looking through their website I found a page where Kelly Blue Book mentioned that EGS was offering a +$1500 bonus on trade ins. This was literally on the EGS website! I spoke with an associate on the phone who made an appointment for me to meet with him. When I showed up he was busy with other clients and pushed me off to the next person...so what's the point of making an appointment with someone? I had to reexplain my entire situation, all to find out that they had only 1 2026 Forester to sell on the lot. I was told there was another one that was being serviced and wouldn't be ready for 2 weeks (what kind of new car needs to be in service for 2 weeks? Fishy.) I then brought up the KBB +$1500 bonus and was told they've never heard of that. I literally had to show it to them on their own website. After an initial offer of $1000 for my trade in (far below value), the sales guy went back to his manager to ask about the bonus. He came back and said that they would honor it this time, but only after reappraising the car to an even lower value to minimize the bonus. The entire experience felt fishy, unprofessional, and like my sale didn't matter. These guys should remember that we are spending tens of thousands of dollars at their dealership...that deserves professionalism at the very least. The service dept, outside of Charlie, is not trustworthy. I got suckered into spending $1,000 more than I should have because they didn't give me all the options on a tune up, forgot or did not code repairs a relative had done a year ago and had me pay for basically the same thing again, and offered a free oil change (knowing damn well that nobody ever gets just an oil change for any car that isn't brand new) to make up for things. With another car that surges when in idle I was told "it isn't coding a problem" but they acknowledged they knew it existed. Now I wonder whether I was told the truth or if they would rather wait for my transmission to fail so that I'm on the hook for more money. It's a shame, I went there for years because I thought I could trust them. They also charged me an extra $53 for using a credit card even though I was spending nearly $3,000. read more

Subaru Elk Grove should not be trusted. They told me over the phone they would buy my car for my asking price just to get me into the dealership. After I wasted half my Sunday going there, they offered me about half that amount, even though the car was exactly as described and they found nothing wrong with it. This location was a great, fast service, the services advisor was very attentive and communicates well. The only draw back is that we just noticed that our car is missing clips on the engine bay. Brutal....unfortunately I have to give Elk Grove Subaru a single star. They reached out interested in acquiring my son's vehicle. They of course provided a substantial estimate and of course experience tells you to take that with a grain. No biggie. The real issue is when communicating with Efrom, discussions were made and an appointment was scheduled to meet with his counterparts, Omar and Patrick. My son showed up on time and gave his name and who was meeting to one of their sales staff. He waited and waited and wasn't provided an update or any respect really. I arrived and waited for a big and the sales staff were busy. This is just poor service all the way around. This dealership should not be trusted. They wasted my time knowing I had to drive 1.5 hours each way, burn 3 hours total, and waste my Saturday when I could have been spending time with my kids. Subaru Elk Grove contacted me after seeing my vehicle listed online for $11,000. I told them directly I would take $9,000, so they knew my number before asking me to come in. After I drove out from Vallejo, they inspected the vehicle, said there were no issues, then offered $4,000 using KBB to try to get the absolute lowest price possible. What made it worse is that they then showed recent sales data indicating they would likely retail the same vehicle for around $13,000. So they used KBB when buying to lowball me, and market data when selling to justify a much higher number. That is the tactic. All of that information could have been discussed over the phone before having me make the drive. Instead, they waited until I was there, wasted my time, and showed complete disrespect for the fact that I had to give up half my Saturday for an offer they clearly knew was never going to be close. Last year, I was accompanying my sister to pick up her Outback from the service department and drove off the lot 5 hours later with a Crosstrek. I'd been planning on purchasing a new car for a while, but after test driving a few cars with Keaton, I drove off very happy with my new car. Within the first few months, I noticed the cowl around my windshield was coming off. I scheduled a visit to repair it and was told by Mike that it was no longer covered by my warranty. I told them I purchased the car about 4 months prior and asked if there was anything they could do to help me out. Mike spoke with his manager and we were able to come to a mutually satisfactory solution. I came back 2 weeks ago for an oil change and tire rotation. However, I was told there were items that needed urgent attention. I was on a tight budget and couldn't make all the changes at that time. Mike, once again, came to my rescue and we were able to make the needed services with prices I can afford. Because of my positive experiences at Elk Grove Subaru, I don't hesitate to refer people to the Subaru brand and this location specifically. Both Keaton and Mike are the reasons I do. read more

From the moment my husband and his boss went to purchase a work truck from Subaru, it was one problem after another. We were repeatedly told the truck would be ready, only to be given excuse after excuse as to why it was delayed. We were also told the truck would be delivered, but every time delivery was supposed to happen, something else suddenly "came up." What should have been a straightforward process turned into almost a two-week ordeal. To make matters worse, when the truck was finally delivered, the rear tires did not even match the front tires. My husband then took the truck to Les Schwab, where he was informed that the tires on the truck were not safe for the weight capacity of the vehicle. That is completely unacceptable and extremely dangerous. Putting someone's safety and life at risk over negligence is beyond unprofessional. This entire experience was frustrating, stressful, and unacceptable from start to finish. We expected honesty, professionalism, and safety, and instead received delays, excuses, and a truck that was not properly equipped or safe THAT IS NOT OK!! I guess I should have checked reviews before trying to make a deal here. This place is a scam. They pass you around to different people to do a bait and switch. Then after you agree on an out the door price, they try to scam you for more money, saying that your down payment for the car was taken out before the agreed on price so you'll have to put an additional down payment down to get it to the agreed upon price. I've bought cars in Folsom and Roseville previously, and I guess that's the difference between the automalls. It's worth the drive, go to Folsom, or Roseville and save yourself the headache. I've had mixed experiences at Elk Grove Subaru so far. When I was in the market to purchase a new car last year, they were one of the first dealers I visited with my family. We liked the Subaru Legacy and decided to purchase a 2025 model. I attempted to order one here but they had zero interest in matching the price I was offered by Hanlee's in Napa. Precisely identical model and options. Their salesperson was knowledgeable, polite, and professional. I've taken my car in for two services thus far. The first visit Bruce was my service advisor and I was in and out in a very timely manner. He's a Subaru enthusiast and very knowledgeable. My second visit Celeste was my advisor. She was friendly, informative, and polite. There were some unexpected delays and a visit that was anticipated to be 90 minutes ended up being over three hours long. My patience was beginning to wear thin before receiving the text I was able to leave. I haven't encountered any issues with poor service. The dealership is clean and well maintained. There's complimentary beverages and snacks. There's a TV, free wifi, and comfy chairs in their waiting room lobby. I'll be back, but I'm hopeful next time will go smoother and more efficiently. read more

I came here in May to buy a car because my other one was nearing what I thought would be the end of its natural life. While I looked at other cars, I chose a Subaru because I felt that the brand would hold its resale value & it would be a quality car. The salespeople were great, and they answered questions and allowed me to look & browse without pressure. The finance people, on the other hand, we're shady. I came in with a pre-approved bank loan, but they ran my credit again. They implied that I needed an extra warranty. They also had me sign away the free CAT engraving, which was in a pile with unrelated papers. When I came by later to cancel the extra warranty, they told me that I had to wait. I explained that I had already talked to Subaru of America who said I would be able to go back to the dealer anytime they were open & sign a form...so I was not going to wait. Magically there was someone who could do that...and who promptly sent it to the wrong email address! The refund process was only supposed to take 6 weeks, but 10 weeks later, I still don't have my refund processed! Overall, I like my car. I liked the salesfolk. But, I hate this dealershipn & will definitely not be going here for service or to buy my next car. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I echo the comments of Jon who called the service department predatory - I would also advise anyone when buying a Subaru that the service department claim that at 9 years old and 150k a Subaru is uneconomic to repair (Their words not mine and yes I have that in writing). Recently my daughter was quoted for lower control arms, but also recommended was new knuckles (because of surface rust), new wheel bearings (because they are pressed into the knuckles) and new dust covers for brakes. Subaru then said " there might be a risk of more as we might damage components in trying to repair". NOW THIS IS A CALIFORNIA CAR no Boston,NY salted roads where corrosion is severe. Now let me explain they tried to triple charge on the same labor - when you get down to the knuckles there is very very little incremental labor to insert new bearings and zero to replace the dust covers BUT SUBURU ELK GROVE quoted the same labor for each item. Bottom line the work that the quote for $8,000 covered has now been completed for $1,200 and a few hours of labor. Nothing got broken in the process, it was an easy job to dissemble nothing seized, nothing jammed and simple tools used. The quotation process was no more than a brazen attempt to frighten a woman into trading in her car and buying a newer model and committing to a car payment. Preying on people like this is unscrupulous and predatory. Because I can guarantee that Subaru Elk Grove would find a way to fix trade in economically and sell for profit. read more

VERY unhappy. Went to this dealership to test drive a car and negotiate a purchase. The test drive went well so on to negotiations. We negotiated for about a half an hour, or so, but couldn't agree on the price; so I left. If that would have ended my experience with them, I would have given them 3, maybe even 4, stars. However, that's not where it ended.... The next morning, I was contacted (via text msg) by a Sales Manager asking me how my experience was at their dealership. I responded that it went well, just couldn't agree on pricing. During the msg exchange, I informed him what my original and ending offer was. I didn't hear back for the rest of the day. The next morning, I was contacted by this same person stating that he would sell me the car for my last negotiated offer, if I would come down to purchase the car that day. I informed him that I would have to wait until my wife got home, since I couldn't drive 2 cars home with me. Called my wife to see if she could get off work a little earlier, so that we could go to the dealership. I then txt'd the Sales Manager, letting him know that if his offer to sell me the car at my last negotiated offer (which was captured in my previous txt) was still good, we'd be at the dealership at 5:00. I also asked who I would need to ask for, once we got there. He agreed that the deal was still good and gave me a name. It took us a little over 45 minutes to get to the dealership (rush hour traffic). When we were a few minutes away from the dealership, my phone notified me that I got a txt msg. Didn't pull the phone out immediately to check, since we were so close to our distination. When we got to the dealership, I checked my phone. It was a text msg from someone else at the dealership notifying me the they could not sell me the vehicle at the agreed upon price. I went into the dealership to ask what was going on, talked to (at least) 3 different people, even showed one of the Sales Managers the txt chain that I had with the other Sales Manager. He simply looked at it and said that they could not sell me the car at that price. He offered to sell me the car at the same price that I walked away from a couple of days ago. If that price wasn't good enough for me to accept it two days ago, why would it be good enough now? After at least 30 minutes of discussion, they offered to lower their price by about $300. Still no where near where they had to be to get my business. If you commit to sell a product at an agreed upon price, one would think that you would be obligated to honor that commitment. Especially since the commitment/agreement is electronically documented. This was NOT the case at this dealership. I don't know if I'm the only one that has experienced this at this dealership, or if this is a common practice for them and I am the only one willing to say something about it. Long story short... I bought a used Prius from Elk Grove Subaru in March of this year. It had problems. I went back for service three times but it was not fixed. Finally, I met with Patrick. I played him the video from that morning and although my car did not have a warranty and he could have been cruel he offered to "make it right". I left with a Toyota Camry that I love. I also have oil changes for the rest of my ownership of the Camry and an Engine/Power Train warranty. I am very grateful for Patrick!!! It didn't have to go that way! read more

I cannot even begin to describe my frustration! I came in on Friday to look at a specific car. They informed my husband and I that they had lost the keys. We waited for over an hour for them to find the keys. They could not locate them. They then let me know in order to hold the car I would either need to fill out paperwork or put down a deposit to cut a new key. Well we left as I didn't feel comfortable filling out paperwork on a car I had not test drove. Against my better judgement I went back today to fill out paperwork. After doing so, them running my credit and sitting around for 40 minutes they came back and told me the car was in contract. I will never do business at this shady dealership again! I recently brought my Outback in for its 160,000-mile service and was assisted by Bruce Saykhu. At the time, Bruce assured me he would keep me informed throughout the process. During the service, he informed me that a part needed replacement but that it would be covered under warranty. After receiving a notification that my vehicle was ready, I returned to the dealership to pick it up. It was then that Bruce admitted he had made a mistake--he had failed to double-check my mileage, and the part was not covered under warranty. He then attempted to justify the $3,500 charge by suggesting it was a worthwhile investment since I planned to keep the vehicle long-term. Despite the error being on their end, Bruce allowed me to take my car for the weekend, saying he would speak with his manager to see what could be done to make it right. Come Monday, I didn't receive a call from Bruce--only text messages insisting I return the car and that the best they could offer was a $400 discount. I requested to speak directly with a manager, and it took four hours to receive a call from Curt. Unfortunately, the conversation was underwhelming--no apology, no genuine concern, just a dry, "What can I do for you?" This entire experience left me feeling extremely disappointed. I sincerely hope this isn't a recurring issue and that other customers haven't had similar experiences. I expected more integrity and accountability from this dealership. read more

We purchased a used 2024 Kia Sportage on 30 June 2025. The purchase went smoothly, thanks to Marissa.however when we picked up the car we found the glove box, the center compartment and the seat back pouches filled with junk papers from the last rental of the car, now over a month after purchasing the car we received a letter saying we need a smog check. We paid for the smog at the time of purchase and the dealer is tasked with supplying the certificate prior to purchase. Now after two days of calling Elk Grove Subaru I have been unable to speak with anyone regarding the smog. I have left phone messages, texts and emails and have been unable to reach anyone to resolve the issue.......... Finally posted a text message on their web site and was able to make arrangement for the smog check they forgot to do. We had to wait just over 2 hours for the car to get the smog check. Be sure everything is done when you buy a car,,,,,since their after sales service is not great. read more

Back when I was shopping for a car I didn't buy it here.. Had the experience that I put in my previous review. It's been years, I bought a car somewhere else and when I moved to Elk Grove I started going to this dealership for service. When it was Lasher it was easy.. I could make an appointment online. Now, it's Knight and making an appointment online isn't easy.. I have to call during open hours, hope someone picks up and make an appointment. It seems very trivial but it used to be easier, more convenient for me. Also, when I go to the webpage the bots harass me constantly asking if I need help and when I type what I need, they can't help. Making the appointment -- blah. Disappointing because it was easier before. Being there, people are nice and service is fine. They no longer run shuttles. Before you can take your car for service and they'll drop you off while you're car is serviced. That service is gone. Instead of getting things done during that time, you wait in the waiting area. Maybe they have a loaner during that time? Not sure.. it just used to be more convenient is what I'm getting at. read more

Anthony (salesperson) was excellent! He was no pressure and very patient with me and my family. He and his sales manager got us a loan and interest rate within our budget. The finance manager, Michelle was excellent too! She called the next day with a better loan that lowered our monthly payment deferred for 90 days. She got a driver, Manny, to deliver the paperwork to our home instead of going all the way back to the dealership which was 30 minutes from our home. We love our commuter car! Very likely the nicest car buying experience I have had. I went in last week to buy a 2026 Crosstrek that was on sale in their website. Salesman Mark was very friendly and helpful in showing me the car. They honored the website sales price and accepted by own banks financing to buy the car. I had to wait a while to meet with the finance officer, which I had no issue with. While I waited Mark and sales manager Patrick came to me several times to apologize for the wait, ask if I needed anything and just to talk. Finance officer Kevin was also very friendly and a pleasure to work with. Because of the three of them I felt very appreciated as a customer. Yesterday my wife, daughter and I went to pick up the car. I bought it for my daughter. We were greeted by Mark and made to feel welcomed by other staff. Sabal spent almost 30 minutes showing my daughter all of the car features inside & out! Sabal was terrific and my daughter appreciated her help. Had my car listed online. Efren reached out with an offer (didn't give a number). Told them I would only take my asking price. They had the VIN and apparently after discussing it with his manager they agreed to give me my asking price under the stipulation that the car was in good condition. We scheduled a meeting, after 30-45 minutes they told me the car was in good condition, but instead of giving me my asking price they low balled. I refused showing the sales associate (not Efren) our previous correspondence and was then told they can't do that price because they "need to make money". I refused since now they wasted my time and backed out of our deal. I asked for the contact information of Efren, his manager (the one he talked to and agreed to give me my asking price), and their boss. None apparently had business cards and now the dealership is no longer responding to my emails. Do not go here to sell a car, they will low ball you and waste your time. I assume the same can be said about buying a car off them, they are only looking to make a profit and not benefit/improve their community like they say they will. read more

There's two part to this. First part: My vehicle didn't start. I had to jump start it in order to work. The RAB, Brake System, Parking Brake and No Eyesight were all on. Apparently, this EG Subaru only takes by appointment only. I booked the appointment and took it in on May 29, 2025 at 7 AM. Mike came out when I arrived and assisted me. He was able to give me a loaner to use it. I came back couple hours later and was told it was a bad battery. The battery was replaced. I was happy. Everything was smooth that day. Two days later, May 31, 2025 and now the vehicle is doing exactly the same thing. I turned the vehicle off since I needed to go somewhere so I used my other vehicle. When I came back. The vehicle is now completely dead. I called EG Subaru, trying to speak to an advisor after I attempted to call Mike (found out he was off via his voicemail). Couldn't get through to no one only to the service schedule department. They said all advisors were busy and they have put in an urgent message for someone (advisor) to call me back. This was done right before 9 and then half an hour later. Got no call back. Around 10, I was able to get through and spoke with Celeste (advisor). I was not able to get a loaner from her and since Mike is off she said she does not know if Mike has a loaner. I wonder if all the advisors have their own loaners to give to their customers or not. Anyways, Celeste was able to schedule an appointment for me. Around 10:20 AM I dropped the vehicle off and she scheduled my appointment for June 3, 2025 at 7 AM.At 12:07, I got a texted message saying my appointment has been canceled. I call EG Subaru and a female lady (no introduction) who answered the phone by saying "Hello". I said my peace and then was put on hold immediately. I called back and this time I spoke to Ryan. He was professional but yet he could not give me any answers as to why my appointment was canceled. However, he was able to squeezed me in on the very same day (today) at 3:30 for my vehicle to be looked at. Granted, it will be closed at 4. We shall see how much worse it will get. Will follow up when it's all said and done. When I dropped the vehicle off, I noticed the advisors weren't doing much so I don't know how busy they can be to return a phone call. Just called and spoke to Celeste. Nothing was done to the vehicle. It was wasted time. Apparently the service call center is EG Subaru's third vendor party who does the scheduling has no clue about scheduling but they do the scheduling. Some B/Sing. There is absolutely no accountability or transparency at all. They all blame each other only. Celeste canceled my appointment time but did not let me know. I wonder what will happen to my vehicle since this review is being written before my vehicle is fixed. I don't know what Mike or Curt will do about it. read more

I just purchased a new Forester Wilderness from Elk Grove Subaru and had a great experience. I negotiated with Marissa over email and came to a price I was very happy with. I found her very transparent and easy to communicate with over email and phone. I set up a morning appointment at the dealership to buy the car. Marissa had the day off, so I was a little anxious to have to deal with someone different. But the salesperson I met, Deon, was equally transparent and gracious. He was VERY knowledgeable about the brand, and the particular car I was buying. I felt that I was treated fairly and never felt pushed into any extras I didn't want. This is a good Subaru dealership.
