My husband and I happened upon Maize Tinto by chance on a Friday night. We thought we just wanted a quick drink while we decided where to eat. So, we sat at the beautiful bar and were promptly greeted by Carlos who was amazing! Fun, friendly, and so knowledgeable about food. Because he is a fine cook (chef?) and was helping at the bar. He made amazing drinks and taught us all about mezcal that *isn't* made in Oaxaca! But then he got to talking about food and how he studied and worked in a NY restaurant to hone his skills and then about the menu at Maize...we were sold! We had the pork torta and shrimp tacos and let me tell you...the food is killer!! Unique twists brought to classic Mexican food. It was literally the best food we had in CDMX the five days we were there. And the place is gorgeous and classy but not uptight or fussy. Beautiful patio and really nice, clean bathrooms. Huge bonus!!
