Subject: Adult Easter Egg Hunt. Positives: I'm trying to think of something that was positive but it's not working-kind of like this unorganized mess that we found ourselves in last week. First of all, I have been trying for a couple of Easter's to get tickets for this but for whatever reason, they have been sold out before it was ever publicized. I finally was able to purchase $50 worth of tickets (2 tickets) and here we are. On a Thursday evening in the pouring down rain (raining for 2 days prior as well) on March 29. The management put all 300 of us drunken suckers in the pavilion which probably is supposed to hold 250. Refreshments were all the booze you could buy, some cheese cubes and a few appetizers that were probably from a previous event, frozen then cooked again. After a few announcements by I'm assuming a female manager about rules, manners and how many eggs we were allowed to pick up, the garage doors were opened and all 300 people started pushing and shoving their way out. Sure! We felt safe! After squeezing our way outside we were led on a half mile walk to the back part of the property in the mud and still pouring rain being yelled at by the staff if we went into the egg filled fields before they said to start. My husband and I started to collect the 10 eggs a piece and walked back to the pavilion to open the eggs. After all this, we sat in our wet clothes with the other 300 drunken wet people and opened the 20 eggs. How exciting this was!! Let's see what we got for our $50!! We got cheap candy from a Valentine's Day function (all the candy was in red and had hearts on the packaging) and a coupon for a free glass of wine. Umm, okay, at least we won something. After checking the big board to see if we won bigger prizes which we did not, we left. The next day, we looked at our winning coupon and come to find out the coupon expired the night of the hunt!!!!!!! Seriously? Not only did we waste $50, but the coupons they were giving out were expired! We called management to see if maybe it was a typo and could be used at a later date and they said absolutely not. We did complain and the person we talked to basically told us there were numerous people who had a great time and that we were the only ones who complained!! From reading the other negative reviews I think we weren't the only ones. I cannot believe what a true ripoff this was. Even though we had a good time together, this was truly a huge disappointment and waste of money. Be warned!! There are many other Easter egg hunts that are cheaper and better organized than this!! Fun place to visit, nice local wine selection although a little pricey. I like their lunch meat counter, nice selection of breads, condiments, spices as well. My wife and I stop there on shopping trips to Hartville for a bite to eat and a bottle of wine. On a nice day sitting outside is relaxing with very nice ambiance. Over the years they've done some major remodeling and it all looks very appealing, clean, neat and offers an atmosphere that says, "Sit down, relax and enjoy yourself." read more

Such a fun place to hang out and drink wine. Bring the kids and the family and explore the grounds and go through the corn mazes. The wine selection is huge and so many options. The people ante friendly and they have a market inside where you can shop and buy pumpkins. The dinner menu is huge and so many yummy options. And lots of seating inside and out. Food is AMAZING - I highly recommend the balsamic burger, it's like a tangy caramelized bbq sauce. The wine is fantastic, and they have such a unique selection of fruit wines. The beer was very good. Lot to choose from. Dark beers were well represented and we're all good. The vanilla porter was my favorite. Don't go for the food however. Not really good. For example; the ratios on the reuben sandwich were way off. Mostly sauerkraut with a little meat. read more

We visited this establishment on a Friday evening after a disappointing visit to 1875 Winery. Maize Valley has improved over the years, now providing an expanded gift shop and additional seating and music bingo (Wed./Fri.). The hostess greeted us, explaining the various seating options/locations and flight samples. We chose an outdoor table that was still covered by a canopy to give some shield from the direct sun. They have indoor seating that still accommodates an outdoor feel if you choose by the roll up garage style doors. Excellent variety of wines. We preferred the dry reds/whites. The Big Red Pecker and Sinfully Red were quite good. The Sinfully White would be great with chicken dish. The service was excellent, very attentive. She brought us a pitcher of water for our table, napkins were provided on the table and a pink service request card sign to display if needed. Beautiful countryside atmosphere, view and plants/flowers. The food is very good. We liked the pretzel with beer/cheese dipping sauce. They were accomodating with extra plates (as 3 of us splitting food items). They also provide real metal silverware for each person (unlike the previous winery we visited). The flight samples of 4 wines for $14 may seem a bit expensive, but provided in real wine glasses. The server provided additional plastic cups for us to share the wine samples (unlike the previous winery we visited). Family friendly environment for all ages (seniors, children, baby stollers etc). They have a nice gift shop for wine items, signs, cheese, meats, pies, cookies, syrups, honey, sauces, etc. I would give them a 5* but suggest they pave the outside seating area instead of dirt/stones. We will return to try the music bingo as it seemed like fun entertainment for all to participate. read more

Maize winery was amazing. The guy reminded me of a character of Will and Grace. He was very helpful and provided a lot of knowledge in the wine business. He had great recommendations on the wine. Everything that I tried was amazing. We purchased 4 bottles here. I recommend this place. They have beer, and many different items to choose from for eating purposes as well. read more

No impressed the only thing this place has going for it is parking and wine other then that lets get to it .the food was blah nothing great just blah.and if you don't read the signs well here you go. Amazing! Great service, good was large portioned and the wine - oh the wine!! I definitely recommend trying their samplers that they offer. Perfect size in each glass to share with another and not go broke. Beautiful scenery also to see when the doors are all open or if you can sit outside, service is great and you won't be waiting or looking for a server, they ALL pay attention. disappointed this year in our experience at Maize Valley. ticket sales were very expensive that prt of our group had to leave because they just couldn't afford to get in not to mention that you then have to pay for food, drinks, pumpkins, after admission fees. even paying full price, the small tractor ride wasn't running, no duck race, among othe things that weren't being offered that day. if you're not going to have a full day of events then why am I expected to pay for a full price ticket? also, the port a potties were completely disgusting. they were filled to the top and not clean whatsoever. just overall disappointing from a place we typically enjoy coming to. Not sure we will be back to this on next year. read more

Sweet little country shop, along the roadside. They had lots of samples throughout the store. I tasted the poppyseed vidalia dressing, and I bought it because it was so good. Also bought some chocolates and some cheese. I would love to go back and taste their wine and hear some live music. I bet this place is really cool in the fall. Absolutely one of the best places around for wine, beer and music. It's a hidden gem on the other side of Hartville but totally worth the drive from anywhere. Inside or outside. Micro Brews are coming to Maize Valley in the fall! Learned this good news during a recent stop. Maize Valley wines have been popular with locals for some time and the need was recognized for beer as the ladies sip wine, so their mates and partners can imbibe along side them. Maize will start small with four to six beers available, said Michelle Bakan, one of the owners and managers. Her brother, Todd Vaughan has made the wines and will assume duties as a brewmeister. They are using a half-barrel system allowing for the formulation of quite a lot of beer. They will let the business grow and build as demand dictates. read more

I had the best Reuben Sandwich I've ever had here in YEARSSSSSSSSS! The rye bread was soft and tasted fresh (I'd be really surprised if it wasn't and was grilled to PERFECTION), the amounts of everything on it was perfect (corned beef, cheese and sauerkraut), savory, melt in your mouth deliciousness. Anytime I daydream about having a good Reuben--it's going to be this one. Don't tell anyone this place makes good food or it'll get too busy. We (female parental unit and I) got a bottle of the Cider from the fridge, ordered 2 glasses of the three berry wine (I think was the name of it) -it won double gold which means all the judges agreed that it was the clear winner and the WINE was OUTSTANDING. The waitress will happily bring you extra glasses for the cider-which was also outstanding. (I also ended up buying a bottle of the triple berry wine-I think it was $25 but it is worth itl) They also have fresh baked pies which change throughout the season (we got the blueberry-which was the perfect thing to end a perfect visit to this winery). the interior is super cute and they have a corn maze going on everyday throughout the month of October--per person for kids 2 and up is $10 and it is 8 acres big. The lady behind the counter (whom we did the wine tasting with) was very knowledgeable and friendly. The store is filled with delightful things to taste/try and purchase if you feel so inclined. I have lived in Uniontown for 7+ years and have yet to make it out to Maize Valley, I had a friend in from out of town and wanted to take her someplace different so we decided to come here. I called Saturday morning and told them my plans, she said they didn't take reservations but there was plenty of seating with their new addition so I should be fine coming in at 6 and would have somewhere to sit. We came in at 6 and the line at the bar was clear back into the shopping area, we waited a half hour in line, bought our bottle and had nowhere to sit, standing room was even uncomfortable because there were people standing all around with no seats so it was very congested. We were there for about an hour, what appeared to be a regular came in, he was very upset there was no table for him, i think it was a manager or owner possibly met up with him in the hallway and promptly found him a seat/table. This was off putting considering we had been there for almost an hour waiting for anything to open up and this person was given preferential treatment. At this point we decided just to leave and go somewhere else, the bar line had gotten even worse since the time we came in and it was very slow moving. Will maybe try again on a non busy night, but Gervasi takes reservations so we are giving that a try instead this weekend. read more

I had the absolute best experience today at Maize Valley. I've been here other times but this visit just really stood out. First of all there was an event going on that I wasn't there for necessarily but they still accommodated parking for those just visiting the market. Second, I experienced the best customer service! The bartender (Sarah?) was so friendly & helpful as well as a couple other employees that I spoke to! The one girl who brought our food out went out of her way to make sure she told us the right type of mustard that came with the cheese plate because we loved it so much. Lastly, the food & wine were absolutely great as always! Thanks for making it a great girls day for my friend & I! We will be back!! read more

Thank goodness I only live 5 minutes from here. It is farm/winery/market/killer time. They do tastings for a quarter and then you can get a bottle and order food at one of their tables, inside or out. They sell different gourmet foods, produce, and wine necessities. Local products and some recognizable brand names. Their menu is pretty limited; I wouldn't recommend this as a dinner spot, just for a quick snack. The portions are small and it's really not that great of a value. The wine is a far better story with the least expensive bottle being around $8. If you come on the weekend they have bands or someone performing outside under a covered patio. In the fall they've got a haunted corn maze, lots of children's activities, and they of course sell pumpkins and other Halloween necessities. It's a great daytime activity for kids and a great night time place for adults. I love coming here with my mom for a quick wine tasting, even though we know what they all taste like. My friends and I enjoy getting a few bottles and just hanging out. They don't charge a corking fee or anything, just grab a glass and a table and enjoy! My only complaint is this place sometimes has THE WORST GNATS! It's very distracting to be tasting wine with gnats flying around here. It has ranged from no gnats, to swarms on a different visit. Yes, yes I am a fan. This place makes the perfect throw-away-all-of-your-plans-and-worries hideout. Seriously. I typically come for "just a quick stop" and have the most relaxing and enjoyable afternoons (second only to a day of tailgating!). As said, the wine tasting is 25 cents per taste and they'll give you a bunch. Everyone I have met at the bar has been informative and jovial -- treating us like regulars even though we don't get to stop in often because of distance. Then we grab a cheese tray (the dips are rad) and a bottle of wine, cozy up on a couch and play some board games. What? Another bottle? OK...time to go outside and let some goats lick some cheerios out of your hand. A stroll back and you get to play some lawn games -- everyone knows I love day drinking and some bags. The mood is feeling good and then the band begins to play...WIN. I still have not been able to catch the fall corn maze (it was raining) or the 1/2 marathon -- but my friends have loved them! I have been at the M-Valley many times when they are hosting charity functions, and I really love that. My only complaint is how sweet most of the wines are -- but so it goes in Ohio, and the place is too fun to hold it against them! read more

Usually go there on Thursday nights for the car show. Sometimes I bring my Mustang for the show and my wife and I sit outside for hours enjoying their local wine. Some nights we go in my wife's car just to see the cars and sit inside for a great meal and of coarse their wine. Believe it or not, they have one of the best selections of local wine in the area. Was so looking forward to a great time at Maize Valley's Fall Fest. I love the winery, the wines are fun, the place is unpretentious and the food is usually great. I couldn't wait to try their new microbrews! I was very surprised that a winery/brewery would not sell or serve alcohol on Sunday. And disappointed to say the least. "Winery" is in the name, after all. Wineries typically sell WINE. I'd have liked to have been warned there was no WINE before being charged the $12 admittance fee per person. Usually, the fee is ten, which is bad enough at a dry "Fest," but we were hit with a bonus fee for the Megasaurus show that had ended five minutes before we gained entry. We then watched as Megasaurus folded himself away and then we were treated to seeing uniformed officer chase some terrified pigs around a track. At which point, we decided to cut our losses and leave. read more

Great little find. First winery I've ever been to and I'm glad. Very pleasant setting with tables and chairs or comfy couches and lounge chairs. Nice market with assorted cheeses, meats, chocolate, fudge, and other candies. If wine isn't your thing, they offer other nonalcoholic beverages. I'm NOT a wine swine but I did a tasting and I can honestly say, the descriptions of how the wine will taste are spot in. Great place. read more

The burger and quinoa salad was delicious, waiting in line to order and then get a refill took much longer than it should have. We have enjoyed going to Maize Valley Winery for a relaxing evening of wine, perhaps a meal, and music. Two years ago we had our Son's and his Bride-to-be's rehearsal dinner there. Maize Valley provides beer (and wine) drinkers an interesting option amongst the craft beer and specialty​ wine offerings in northeast Ohio. It offers both, so no longer do those who claim to be either one or the other have to be disappointed​​. There are also a variety of menu options for those who choose to eat. (our burger was woefully under-cooked, but they fixed that issue.) Finally, the gift shop offers some Amish-esque favorites. (if you want to over-pay for those kinds of things.) As a beer-drinker, I was focused on the beer, of course. I particularly liked 'Silo Killer', their tremendous Farmhous Ale. 'Azacca Smash' was a flavorful pale ale, and 'Monk in Public' proved to be the highlight with its boozy complexity. (I'm a sucker for anything made with Belgian candi syrup!) The Red Brut ale was mediocre. My companions, the wine drinkers, were not nearly as impressed​ with the flights they tried. "Ho-hum," my brother responded to his Cabernet Sauvignon, and his wife was equally​ un-impressed with the 'Sinfully White'. Overall, I really enjoyed the ambiance of the area. But Maize Valley will DEFINITELY have to address an area​ of concern: the 'wait times'! One basically chooses an empty table, and then goes to the counter where a bartender waits on you. On a busy Saturday night, though, this proved to be irritating. We spent more time waiting in line to get a beer or a glass of wine instead​ of actually sitting, drinking, and enjoying. The people who stood with us in line remarked​ about this constantly. Why they don't have a dedicated wait-staff, especially​ on weekends, is confusing and disappointing. This place is so fun! It's a busy busy place on the weekends. You wait in line to place your wine and food orders. Tables are first come first serve so get there early! Live entertainment adds to the atmosphere. Wine prices are reasonable and they have a huge selection of both wine and craft beers. We try to get here a few times a month. Great little destination with a nice selection of fresh fruit, Boar's Head deli items, housemade jams, salad dressings, you name it. As for the wines...almost all of them are on the sweet side.
