The theater is in a nice location with plenty of parking. It looks like a beautiful old historic theater, with a lot of original fixtures. I'm a history-buff, and I love that sort of thing, but I wish they would upgrade the seating to the more modern seats that now lay back a bit for comfort. The overstuffed red velvet chairs were quite comfortable, for stationary chairs, but there's no changing your position. And there's not quite enough foot-room for someone like me, 6'4" tall. The popcorn was fresh, buttered perfectly, and absolutely delicious! The staff was quite friendly, very nice, and the theater itself was very clean. Nice, well lit and with a clean men's restroom. I'm cold-natured, and the theater was not warm enough for me. I was OK with a big down jacket, but I loaned that to my lady friend to cover her legs, which were too cold. So I sat there and watched a movie, just a little bit uncomfortable because of the temperature. We are over 65, and they gave us a nice discount for being seniors! The feature film last night was Michael, the Michael Jackson story portrayed by Jaafar Jackson. It was very entertaining, and we got more than our moneys worth! The Gunnison - crested Butte area only has one Movie Theater, and I have to give them credit... It's a pretty darned good one! In spite of the things I critiqued it still gets my 5 stars because it was better than I guessed it would be. Just bring your jacket! read more

Lady at the counter was rude as all get out, wanted to just pop my head in to check out the inside and was immediately asked to leave for no stated reason. The reviews below are old. The theater is under new management, and is running as a non-profit. But there are bills to pay, heat to keep on, and studios that want their cut. With all that, ticket prices are still well below a big city movie theater. A group of former employees spent several years working to get it back open. An example of the spirit of Crested Butte. They also offer regular free screenings of movies for everyone during each month. Check out their website to be up-to-date on what's going on. And yes, you aren't supposed to bring outside food into ANY movie theater, anywhere. That helps pay the employees as they get to keep all the money. Just sensible and respectful to abide by the rule. Teenage hostess threw hissy fit when we brought candy into the theater. will now be traveling to montrose to avoid such behavior in the future. now usually this wouldn't affect me to such an extent, i currently happen to be operating off on an income that comes to a whopping total of $0, the money that was used to purchase the aforementioned candy could have fed my family for a day and a half. 0/10, and would not recommend to any friends or really anyone actually. read more

This was a fun time that brought back childhood memories when I started working at 14 in a movie theatre. Only a few screens. It's not a AMC but the sound quality was just as good. Staff super friendly and helpful. No refills remember it's a small town. Popcorn was fresh and they had a decent selection of candy. Lucky for us June is slow season so it wasn't very busy. We saw Spy with Jason Statham and Melissa McCarthy and it was surprisingly hilarious. The whole family had a great experience especially for a rainy muggy day. Definitely come back here again on our next visit if there's a good movie playing. read more

Very convenient location. They had 3 movies to choose from and lots of movie watching snacks. There's one line. You buy your movie ticket, popcorn, drinks, candy at the same time. This slows down the process, especially if you just want to buy a ticket. The guy who took our order was not very friendly; in fact he was borderline rude. He may have been overwhelmed by the line or the 8 kids in front of us picking their candy and drink choices. It did not deter from our movie watching but it was startling because everyone in CB is so incredibly nice. Theater is not that large. We were lucky and sat together. The theater did sell too many tickets and all seats were full and there were people standing in the back watching the movie. read more

Charming little theatre in a charming little town. There's not many seats, and they play three movies at a time, however what they lack in size they make up for in in many other areas. And thank God for them, or us crested butte folk would have to drive quite a distance just to see a movie in theatres. And they have a knack for choosing the three best options out of the pack. I like going to this theater. It is close to Gunnison, only being a 25 minute drive away, but I think I might start going the extra half hour to Montrose because I prefer good customer service and quality over convenience. Nowhere on the site does it say that tickets are non-transferable or non-refundable, so ya know being the rational thinker I am, I assume that since it doesn't say it, they must be transferable and/or refundable. That was not the case however. I understand that Avengers Endgame is an incredibly anticipated movie, which is why I bought the ticket in the first place, but I do expect a little more respect than I received. The showing that I bought my ticket for sold out before my friends could buy a ticket, so I called the theater thinking "oh it'll be no problem, they can just cancel my ticket and reimburse my money and they'll have the extra seat open for another patron to buy the ticket for". What I was met with was a bad attitude that said "hey I don't care what you did or what you say". I simply asked "hey I bought the ticket for a showtime that sold out but I want to go with my friends, is there any way I can exchange my ticket for a different showtime?" The answer was no, but the lady on the phone that gave me the answer went a step further to say that if I were to transfer my tickets to a different showing they would have to stop the movie just to check everybody's ticket then kick out whoever was at the wrong showtime. The problem with that answer is that it didn't answer my question. My question was "could I change showtimes?" not "could I sneak into a different showtime?" I mean they show your proper showtime on the confirmation ticket that you have to present so if someone snuck into a different showtime it'd be on the theater anyways. After my call, I had my mom call (I'm a teenager so it's not weird) and I believe she talked to the same woman. My mom immediately asked for a manager, but was denied. Then she asked the exact same thing that I asked and the woman said "well the owners won't let us do that, I'm sorry." Which is the answer and tone I would've preferred. So here I am stuck with two tickets to the same movie with showings that are 15 minutes apart. Other than this terribly inconvenient experience, I do like Majestic. It's a nice little theater with comfy chairs and only a little bit of long hair and lint in the popcorn occasionally. The soda is less watered down than other small theaters but it still doesn't compare to respectable theaters. I probably will go back because I don't fancy driving an hour to watch a two hour movie then drive home because that's like four hours vs three. #playing with my money is like playing with my emotions. read more

Worst movie experience I've ever been to. I first walked in and was treated Rudely because I miss heard them. Not good selection of beverages and snacks. When I walked in the theater each seat was worn down and had no cup holders. Plus the seats were outdated and too small. Never going back in my life. read more
