The restoration work done on this building is exceptional. Definitely worth visiting just to see what a tasteful mountain remodel looks like. The food however is OK. I'd come back almost exclusively for the elk meatloaf. The elk tenderloin was a tad overcooked and in my opinion did not pair well with the accompanying sides. The caramelized carrots and the charred outside of the tenderloin combined to form an off putting aftertaste. Once past the charred outer layer, the tenderloin was amazing. My wife ordered the fish and chips and those were great as well. The desert was very tasty and decadent. While I do not fault the staff for this, the service was slow, friendly, but slow. It was obvious they were understaffed. An OK experience all around with the meatloaf doing most of the heavy lifting tonight. read more

They come with fries and you can sub truffle fries or sweet potato fries. All fry options were really good. The burger was good. Not the best, not the worst. We arrived for dinner around 6:30 p.m. on a Friday and were worried we would have to wait, but we were seated right away. It seemed like we got their last available table as it was a 6 top, but happy the hostess let us have it rather than wait for a 2-top. We were seated by the door so it was a little chilly but it was not too bad. We were seated right by the window so we could people watch. We ordered two dinners. An elk meatloaf with a salad and then the special which was a 10 oz sirloin steak, with mashed potatoes and red beans. Both dinners were tasty! unfortunately, the steak did not have any veggies on the side. it was a protein heavy meal. Delicious, but needed something green to accompany it. This place is a MUST if you're ever in crested butte. The atmosphere, service and food are just impeccable. We went for a late lunch probably more towards dinner I would say. When we got there we were immediately sat and we sat in a booth right by the window. Each table already has some fresh water and glasses for you while you wait for your server to come. When our server came I ordered an old fashioned, which omg they made amazingly and I will say I had 4 (haha I was on vacation and got a little tipsy lol) but they were just soooo delicious. For our appetizers I ordered the Brussel sprouts and my daughter got the fried pickles. The Brussel sprouts came out perfectly crispy, tossed in whatever sweet stuff they used (the best) topped with a ton and I mean a ton of bacon lol I was there for it! The Brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly the crisp was perfect and the flavors were sweet. I did not try the fried pickles so I can't speak on those. For my main entree I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was nice and crispy and had a nice flavor to it and paired perfectly with their tartar sauce, and the amount of fries you get with it is ridiculous lol not in a bad way. They were good as well but the star of the show was the fish. The inside of the restaurant is super cool tbh it looks industrial to me and old. The bathroom is down stairs and I saw another room down there so idk if that was more seating. Our service was AMAZING!! And the food came out so fast! I will definitely be back if I'm ever in town. I actually had a pretty good meal here I sat at the bar because I'm visiting from out of town and I got plenty of people to chat with who are friendly The service was not quite as friendly More on that later Here's what I ended up getting for food Street corn with homemade chips: very good I actually split this with one of the other guests because it was pretty high amount of food Beer flight: what I tried were as follows Coconut stout: great Cider: meh Mexican chili: excellent Peach sour : meh Elk meatloaf with mashed potatoes: This was pretty good but on the sweeter side I thought the bartender was a little on the rough side. Kind of did some subtle passive aggressive things when I was asking about your flights and menu such as ruling his eyes but whatever. The other thing that I didn't quite care for was that they close at 9:00 p.m. and if you're already there they really just don't want you in there They made a big point of folding up the tables and chairs and sweeping so it gave you the idea that you needed to get the hell out of there. Plenty of parking on the street for free. The price for all of this was over 60 bucks which isn't cheap. If you can ignore all of the service issues which I mentioned and are okay with some of the things with the food then I don't think this is a bad option read more

Off the bat, the service was excellent. The young buck host was kind and even checked on our table from time to time. Our server was nice, efficient, and quirky (which is a compliment). What I learned is that this place is a music venue and has a great setup for sports on TV in the basement. It's also, I think anyways, where you get Irwin Brewing's beer on draft from the source. IPA is amazing. Food is good. We got the special fixed menu of the day. We loved the pomegranate salad, could have left the elk chili, enjoyed our steak and frites, and the dessert was average. For the $, service, atmosphere, drinks (!), and food, it's an easy 5 star for a mountain town. Definitely a locals spot but also apparently some millionaires investment which kind of sucks. I almost took a star away for $$$ bags McGee's apparent involvement but I'm not because I've had 3 IPAs and I'm feeling chill. read more

We came in genuinely excited to try this place, but the experience was disappointing from start to finish. For the prices they charge, the food was unacceptable. Nearly everything we ordered was bland and nowhere near worth the cost. The steak was the only decent item on the table--and one good dish does not save an entire meal. To make matters worse, six separate times we attempted to order menu items only to be told they were unavailable--sometimes after the order was already placed. One of the most frustrating parts was the chicken dish that listed potatoes (plural) on the menu and arrived with one half of a single fingerling potato. Not one potato--half of one. That felt misleading and honestly insulting given the price point. The bison bolognese pasta was the worst offender. It somehow tasted like warm water. No seasoning, no depth, no flavor whatsoever. It's hard to understand how a bolognese--one of the most forgiving, flavor-heavy dishes--could be executed so poorly. When the manager stopped by and clearly saw we were unhappy, he made a joke and brushed it off rather than addressing the issues. Stating "chicken need potatoes don't they?" Very unprofessional. Nothing was comped, no attempt was made to fix the experience, and we were left feeling ignored and overcharged. Our waitress was nice. We left extremely dissatisfied and frustrated. If you enjoy paying premium prices for bland food, missing menu items, and indifferent management, this might be the place for you. Love this place! We ate here last night and were able to eat outside. The service was fantastic - and our meal was fabulous. I ordered the Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese which was delicious - and was able to upgrade the salad that comes with it to the beet and quinoa salad. My friend ordered the shrimp and grits - I normally really dislike grits - but these were incredibly tasty. Here skiing and was told that that the PH had some good food. We went at 6 pm and where seated at a table. Waited 20 Mon and no one came to our table! Finally gave up on getting any service and left. We got the elk meatloaf and spicy chicken sandwich. The elk definitely tasted very gamey but if you like that then it fits! Spicy chicken sandwich wasn't too spicy but good. Ambiance, decor, food. Public house has it ALL. The most delicious feel good foods, perfect for a weekend of skiing. Reservations - they have a waitlist where you can put your name down and they will text you when your table is ready. We went during a busy ski weekend and had a 1.5 hour wait (ah!) BUT it was worth it. We went to Dogwood and grabbed some cocktails first and got the text right as we were settled up. Drinks - spicy habanero marg for the win! Great selection of cocktails, wine, beer Food - PH is perfect for a warm, comforting meal. Calorie heavy, rich, and DELISH. Mexican street corn dip is a must try. So flipping good! Public house has all the ski town charm you want in a restaurant. Large dark wooden bar, leather booths, animals hung on the walls, and great beer. Of course, great food too!!!! Staff was nice and wearing a mask. I got the hazy IPA which was delicious, not tooooo hoppy, and it was pricy but nothing outrageous for a craft beer. The fish and chips were so so good. Crispy, beer battered, flaky white cod. Fantastic sauces to choose from. I even ate every bite of my coleslaw it was delicious too. My fiancé at the elk meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green salad. He loved it, then even had some to take home! The bathrooms were clean and we didn't have to wait to get a table even at 6PM on a Thursday. Wonderful experience- will def be back. read more

My husband really loves this place! We've been twice on our trip so far, and we most likely will be back again before we leave. It was just us two, and we were able to get a table rather quickly both times without much of a wait. The root beer they make is phenomenal, so make sure to try some of that! Then for food we have had the fish and chips, western burger, pretzel, and chicken caesar salad. My only critique is that the caesar salad was absolutely drowning in the dressing and was a bit inedible after awhile, but next time we would just get the dressing on the side. A friend recommended this place and that's how we go here. After driving from Denver to Crested Butte, we needed a relaxing meal and drinks. Public House was our first meal in The Butte. Experience was just okay. We had a water glass with lipstick stain on it, but that glass was eventually replaced. I say this because it took a while to for our server to get to us. And once our food was delivered to our table, we didn't see her until it was time for our check. As far as our food and drink was concerned, they were okay. I had the fried chicken. Chicken was cooked well, but the flavor was a little lackluster. I didn't understand the reason why it is on top of a slice of bread? My wife had the Green Goddess Sandwich. She wasn't a fan. Had a really great lunch at Public house after a fantastic hike in the mountains of Crested Butte! While the food here is pretty expensive compared to the other options in the city I actually found it a really reasonable and the quality to be top notch! Started out with drinks and I enjoyed my tequila mule nice and refreshing, super relaxing after hiking all morning. The first thing we ordered was the shrimp and grits, I loved this dish they give you a ton of shrimp! The grits were nice and creamy plus the side salad was actually tasty as well. The fish and chips were fried perfectly and better than you would expect in a mountain town. It comes with a big serving of fries and coleslaw with a few different dips! This is a perfect spot if you leave looking for an upscale place to relax after a busy day outside! This is the first restaurant we've been to where my kids have demanded that I give a "6 star" review. They were very happy with their cheeseburger and chicken strips and said the french fries were the best they had ever had.
