Major Move saved the day for us. We moved from Connecticut to DC with a 16 foot truck and were scheduled to arrive in DC on a Friday night at 6pm. We initially had problems scheduling movers to help us unload on the DC side because of the late arrival time. After calling 10 movers listed on yelp with no success, one of the places referred us to a newer moving company called Major Move. They were the only company to agree to move us at that late an hour on a Friday night. On move day, we ran into delay after delay on the way down to DC from Connecticut and kept having to move back our arrival time with Major Move. They were incredibly accommodating about this and were willing to meet us as late as we needed on very short notice. Unfortunately, we wound up missing our building's allowed move in time, no move-ins after 9pm. We assumed Major Move would charge us a cancellation fee since we tied up two of their movers that entire night, which they had every right to do, but they did not. They were incredibly nice about the whole thing and even arranged to send two guys to help us unload the next morning at 8am, even though they already had another move scheduled that morning that they had to work around. We were very grateful because we would not have been able to find anyone else on such short notice. Since we missed our original move in slot scheduled with our building, we wound up getting just one hour instead of the usual two hours to use the loading dock the following morning. So we had to work fast! The two movers from Major Move showed up early and were ready to go. We explained our time constraint and they were very optimistic and confident that we would make the deadline. They worked very quickly and were able to unload our truck within the hour deadline, while treating our things with great care and maintaining a great attitude the whole time. Turns out one of the movers started Major move with his wife. His wife was the person we were dealing with on the phone the previous night, who was so gracious and accommodating. They were both so courteous, professional and a pleasure to deal with. First let me say that I have had a very bad experience with movers in the past. In a move from Michigan to Maryland I had my belongings stolen by the movers and distributed to storage units in two different states (neither of which were Michigan or Maryland). So moving is extremely stressful for me. My fiance and I had a new home built, and needed help with moving our things from our two separate residences into the new one. I called Major Move and Junk and spoke with Tiffany. She was ALWAYS patient and kind no matter how many times I called to change the details. Evans came to both of our respective homes to see what needed to be moved. He was very prompt, polite and professional. The decision was made to move my fiance and I on the same day. On moving day, three very kind and professional gentlemen arrived at my home right on schedule. They hopped out of the truck and immediately went to work. I often tried to get them to take a break throughout the day, but the most they would do was take the water I offered. They completed my move at around 5pm, and then went to my fiance's home to move him. They completed the move at 10:30pm, well past the time that any of us thought it would take. However, they never complained and only stopped working when I insisted that they eat a late lunch. This company is timely, responsive, polite, and professional. My move was pretty sudden and I was wildly looking for a moving company that wouldn't charge me a month's worth of rent to move at the last minute. My boss recommended MM&J and said she used them on her last move. I was pretty skeptical about using a company I had never heard of but figured I might as well call and see if they were available. Evans, who I later realized was the co-owner of the company came to my house that same day for a free estimate. A day later Evans and his crew (two other guys) showed up right on time on the morning of the move and quickly got started. They wrapped ALL of my furniture, tv's, anything with glass and anything that could easily be broken. In any move, things get broken, scratched or damaged is some way (which I was prepared for). This particular move had no such issue. The move was quick and efficient but no broken, cracked, or scratched furniture, or items. I was very impressed at how well they guys worked together and the experience over all, along with the very reasonable price he charged for the move and junk hauling. I would recommend Evans and his crew to anyone and will be using them the next time I need to move. Evans and crew were extremely professional and courteous. I am a member of the military and I received orders to get stationed near Miami Florida. I packed my stuff up and put in storage. I didn't look forward to moving my stuff to Florida. I heard about Major Move and Junk and how awesome they were with Moving. I hired them to move my items from Hyattsville MD to Miami Florida. Wow can I tell you that they did an amazing Job!!!! What I loved is that the Owner is a Veteran! It was great to see that He runs his company with those same Values that the Military has! I had a very successful move using Major Move and Junk. I hadn't needed the services of a moving company for many years, so when I needed a few pieces of furniture transported from a friend's in Alexandria to my place in Silver Spring, I didn't know where to start. Then I heard from a friend about a new moving company in the area with an experienced crew, I checked out their website and gave them a call... and was very glad I did. I filled out Major Move and Junk's online assessment form and a pleasant young woman gave me a call right back to confirm details. We set the time and location, and on the morning of the move, a nice young man called me to confirm details (a nice touch). The truck arrived right on time, and they had the items expertly wrapped and on the truck in less than half an hour. They then met me at my townhouse and carefully unloaded the items in no time, and even put the bedframe together for me (which was already in my home but they were nice enough to set up before placing the boxspring and mattress). There were some really narrow stairs they had to manage, but they did a great job getting the items in place without a scratch to the walls or floors. And all of this for a very affordable price. Major Move and Junk did an awesome job when I moved recently! I always dread moving, from the packing, to worrying about whether movers are going to be careful, or whether I would get taken advantage of, or have other issues come up. However, the entire process from start to finish was really easy, and surprisingly actually enjoyable. I completed their online assessment form and was contacted immediately to go over my needs. When I had questions before the move they got back to me quickly, and called the day before to confirm. More specifically, they showed up on time for moving day. The move itself went much better than I would have expected. The movers showed up on time and took great care with moving everything. If they were not sure how to move it or had concerns or questions, they always asked. The movers were also very friendly. I have moved several times before and lemme tell you, these guys rock! From the very start when I emailed for a quote, we received great customer service. I had several annoying questions and they answered them no problem. We were the second move of the day and they called us a few times to keep us informed of their progress and what time they anticipated arriving. They moved us from a 2 bedroom to a 2 bedroom and we were incredibly impressed with their Mannerism and conduct. We had not packed up very well - but they were unfazed and just got straight to work. These guys really know what they are doing. Unbelievably fast and efficient, while being super careful with your stuff. This is the first time my move did not incur any damages. Moving can be incredibly stressful. Moving with this company is not. They are quick with their estimates, fair with their prices, careful with their packing and handling, and a pleasure to work with and they do not EVER try to manipulate the time to get more money out of you. read more

I highly recommend these guys, they were very professional, courteous, on time and truly helped us move as opposed to just shovel boxes into a truck like some do. Moving from Laurel, MD to Richmond, VA, from a 3rd story walk-up where they had to be careful carrying everything down a narrow Edwardian staircase, they came equipped with extra tape and padding and helped us out with properly packing the big and fragile items. Basically, it was a pleasure dealing with them, and they were VERY reasonable on the final price, in the end we actually paid less than we expected, with tip, and the service was 5 stars. I would like to add that I hired them again within a month to move a relative of mine, and they did a terrific job again as well. I personally dread moving and dealing with movers because I always feel it will be a lot of hassle, etc., but with Major Move and Junk I could rest easy knowing it would be handled by pros. read more

I've used quite a few moving companies over the years, and I have to say these folks are my fave. Both the admin office and the actual movers are thorough, responsive, communicative, and have great attitudes. I had a move that involved a pickup at a storage facility, then a pickup at a residence, and then the final delivery. The movers were fast, treated my items with love and affection (unlike many a mover out there who has banged up valuable stuff), and checked in later that day to ensure that everything went as desired. There were two really bad accidents on the Beltway the morning of my move, but both the office and the movers called to keep me apprised of their adjusted arrival time, which I unfortunately didn't get from other movers I've used in the past. Tiffany was responsive and informative as I was getting the quote, and the crew who came to move me could not have been more professional or helpful. They actually were offended whenever we tried to do anything ourselves. Bryan, Demarrez, Chris and Ervin were my crew, and other movers came over to help to speed the process along at the home I moved from, as well as at my new home. I was referred to this company by one of my friends who just recently moved off Andrews AFB and she was very impressed with their service. I contacted this company on their website and requested a estimate to move my 2 bed apartment . Within 15 minutes I received a phone call from the estimator. He came by the same day and did a thorough walk through of my home and gave me an quote. I was more than excited by the price and scheduled my move for the following week. The movers were very prompt and courteous. They wrapped up all of my furniture and dismantled my bed and put it back together at my new home. I was very impressed with Major Move and Junk and I highly recommend them. They provided me with an in home estimate. I was given a great estimate that beat two other estimates that I had gotten from other companies. The day of my move the base of my mirror was broken and due to the contract I signed I elected to go through my home owners insurance if any items were broken. Although this was the case the movers took my mirror piece back with them to MD and had it repaired at no expense to me. Two movers then brought the piece that was broken back to me all the way in VA and put the mirror back together. Now that's excellent customer service!!! They were under no obligation to fix my mirror, but did it anyway. read more

The move entailed moving boxes and furniture, as well as taking apart some furniture and reassembling upon delivery. They moved quickly and efficiently as a team, and were really great guys as well (easy to talk to talk to and were cool with my dog barking at them occasionally). I got a new bedroom set for Christmas and needed the old one removed before my new set can be delivered. I called 1800gotjunk and their quote was out of my budget. I found this company flyer in my apartment building and they gave me a fair and affordable quote. 2 very nice guys came over and disassembled my bed and removed the entire set.
