    Ab trout

This was genuinely one of the most scrumptious places I've ever ever ever been to. The moment you walk in to the 40th floor, sprawling views of the Calgary skyline coupled with floor to ceiling windows illuminate your view. We got stuck in the parking lot for 30 min and were therefore quite late, but they still accommodated our lunch. SO nice!! We got the power lunch, which includes two hor d'oeuvres and one entree. We tried all four options - the major tot, crispy chicken wing, potato doughnuts, and salmon tartane. Everything was immaculate, especially that major tot which is a tater tot with smoked sturgeon paste and pickled onions. Now the entrees were insane. Quite literally the best in new American/Canadian food I've ever had anywhere. The crispy duck was so juicy, and that bbq consommé was genuinely drinkable. The charred cabbage had just the right crisp, and the flavors were just so well balanced. The ab trout was even more insane. The creamed corn grits were so flavorful, the sauce ricard was so creamy, and the skin on the trout was so perfectly crispy while the fillet was so moist. Probably the best cook I've ever seen on a fish. Seriously this was amazing!

Zach from the bar was amazing. My best friend and I enjoyed my birthday cocktails he crafted, and the food was bomb. Zach was so attentive and polite!

We were on our honeymoon visiting Banff National Park and had an early morning flight out of Calgary. Before retreating to the hotel, we had a late lunch/early dinner at Major Tom after reading/seeing glowing reviews and it did not disappoint. My husband will say this was one the best meals we had while in Canada. We ordered the rigatoni which was to die for. The Caesar salad which was so cold, crunchy and refreshing. Then decided we'd split the 8oz filet which was out of this world. Perfectly cooked, kudos to the chef. But the highlight of this experience was the service. Our server, LaTasha, was THEE BEST. She made the experience all the better. She was so friendly and fun, easy to talk to and even recommended we order the pasta FIRST so as to not spoil all the flavors of the bearnaise sauce we selected to come with the steak. Thank you, LaTasha, you made our entire day!!! I also loved the presentation of my gin martini. Friendly hostess as well. Clean bathrooms. Beautiful views! Must do if you find yourself in Calgary!

Came to celebrate and see the sunset on the 40th floor! Staff was attentive and made some drink and meal suggestions. We asked for a table at the windows so we can see the sun set over the Rockies and also see the Calgary Tower.

Upscale and classy place that's perfect for an anniversary dinner or special occasion. I didn't have any issues like other reviewers had, my service and food were both exceptional! We were greeted and tended to all night with care, and every dish was plated nicely. Cheese toast: such a simple dish was elevated with a secret sauce and parm. So rich and buttery! Duck breast: this was cooked to perfection. Juicy and not overcooked or gamey, it had a flavourful crispy crust. The vegetables soaked up all the delicious jus. Baked Alaska: old fashion and a classic fancy dessert. I recommend to share it with another person because it's a big portion for one! Had a really lovely time and recommend that you make a reservation!

Come for the view, and the food, but mainly the view. 40 floors up, overlooking Calgary's incredible skyline, sits a swank Major Tom. The beer salad was one of the most incredible dishes I've ever had. Incredibly well presented, the beets were sweet like candy. My main pasta, the campanelle with calamari and chili was just okay. I found the dish overly salty and the pasta a bit overcooked. It was by no means a terrible dish, I've just had better. Service at Major Tom is impeccable and extremely friendly. Id come back for the view and beet salad alone.

Cancel Major tom. I have been treated poorly on 2 separate visits. Tried to give them a second chance but this place thinks too highly about themselves that they treat solo customers extremely poorly. On my first visit I was completed ignored for over an hour after being seated. Didn't even offer me a drink or water. Second visit. I specifically made a reservation by the window a month in advance and because I was solo they seated me by the doorway with no view. As a paying customer that will spend hundreds of dollars for a meal for 1 this left a sour taste on each visit where I did not want spend my money there. And from now on I won't. Cancel Major tom. Its over priced pretentious and quite frankly a waste of time.

First night in Calgary meeting up with great friends and this resto was our first stop My pictures are horrible and don't do this place any justice!! We were having such a great time and enjoy the food so much that I completely forgot to take a pic right away.. The ambiance is fabulous, it's at the highest point of the building with a beautiful scenic view of the Calgary tower and the city at night ! The food : 5+++++ amazing super tender I absolutely loved their waldorf salad We went for the icelandic cod and lamb just amazing and delicious winderful flavours completely recommend!! They kept being blue cheese olives I just loved thag the olives were stuffed with blue cheese mmm yummmy I even got the marsala mushrooms very good and flavourful Service .. 4/5 the hostess was extremely rude and we just didn't know whos name was on the reservation so it took us a minute to figure it out but she could have been more friendlier while she has us figure it out and not yell or trash us... otherwise our service inside the resto was phenomenal.. waitress was super caring friendly and quick everything was great except that hostess with major attitude problem!

    Rigatoni

The views from this restaurant were gorgeous. The dim lights inside really set a luxurious vibe. The espresso martini was a great way to start off the night. The rigatoni was pretty good but I tried my friend's NY strip loin and felt like I wished I got that instead. The rigatoni was a lot of meat and not enough noodles for me. The flavor of the NY strip loin was the type to make your mouth water. If I ever go back I would definitely order that!

Not quite what I expected. This place came highly recommended from a friend. The highlights she mentioned were amazing view and great ambiance. The view hands down was exquisite. Ambiance I found to be just ok. The voices carried so even the waiter had a hard time hearing us if we didn't scream. Service was mediocre at best. Unfortunately our waiter seemed to disappear at times with major time gaps between check ins. The food was also mediocre at best. Items had either too much flavor or none at all. The fries were full of pepper truly like the kitchen messed up. The Ceasar salad was delicious but if you don't like capers make sure to ask them to hold them. The broccolini had the oddest taste again as though the kitchen used the wrong spice. Tasted so strange. The steaks were cooked nicely but lacked flavor. Overall an experience I don't need to have again.

MT Cheeseburger with the best fries ever!

Hard to find fault with Major Tom. Unfortunately we were socked in with smoke so we didn't get to enjoy the famous view, but the food, service and decor still managed to make it a memorable meal. We were a large group so we got to do some sharing, even from the vast and creative cocktail menu. We started with some appetizers, all excellent, especially the scallop crudo. I had the cheeseburger made from brisket. As good as it was, and it was excellent, my fries stole the show! Other entrees included steaks and pasta, all excellent. Prices are as expected for fine Calgary dining, however there are some lower priced items for those that want to budget the experience. Some appetizers are under $10 and the side size pastas, which my wife had, are under $20. Definitely will be back, a Calgary gem.

Spectacular all around. The views 40 feet up are stunning of the city and we were sat right at the window. Our server Alex was one of our favorites we've ever had at any restaurant. Honest, informed about the menu, and super nice. The peach old fashioned was an incredible drink and we decided on splitting the butchers cut of the night, 32 oz porterhouse. The meat was cooked to perfection. Our night ended with dessert and the chocolate mille feullie was incredible. Such a special night!

For the owner, I can't say the same He has asked me "so, how can we can we improve at Betty Lou's". No matter what you say, it doesn't really matter. The owner seems to weaponize feedback, which is completely toxic. Sure, you're the owner, absolute respect to you for making this fair in this industry, it's accomplishment. However、please do not ask serving or bartending staff if you don't want genuine feedback. The owner will act against you. We requested one time that Blaine (the owner) does not come on floor if he's had more than two drinks and if he's not dressed in proper uniform. As an owner, sure, to some extent that's fine. But when you threaten a server, who is still new, you will fire them based off how long you're doing menu tours is not acceptable. If you didn't know, menu tours are just running through the drinks and food, which can take a considerable amount of time when you are busy. Now imagine the owner is so disconnected from the reality of the service, is also five drinks deep in the office. The owner will award you back off a few good days, but if you have one review where a customer believes you didn't believe you delivered "a personable experience" you're done. Now, that seems rough, but imagine an owner who values complete bullshit over actual truth. But I mean hey, would I work an environment where the owner can flip a switch, absolutely. It doesn't matter So hey, if you get hired at Betty Lou's, got bless you You can have a good few days, but ultimately, it doesn't matter. There is no HR, no general manger, you know why? They've left, to better and more complete opportunities that Betty Lou's cannot offer. If you're looking for any place to work, please, reconsider Betty Lou's.
