Nasi Lemak Platter $39.99
Denise P.

I've ordered this Nasi Lemak Platter @makan.to for the second time and was over the moon each time! This delicious feast includes curry chicken, satay chicken, satay beef, beef rendang, sambal, roasted peanuts, eggs, acar, and coconut rice for only $39.99! This is such a reasonable price since this meal was more than enough for 2. The restaurant is located in Queen Street downtown but they offer free delivery for orders over $35 to many areas in the GTA so check out their website for some yummy goodness!

In Malaysia Nasi Lemak is typically considered fast food, being served very fast and fresh. This nasi lemak platter that I ordered took nearly 40 minutes to be made. For assembling a platter of already cooked foods this is way too long; this was especially frustrating as we were the only customers in the store and the store did not seem to have other takeout or ubereats orders that they were making. Also three of the side dishes came cold. Which is unacceptable. Cold curry chicken is god awful. Avoid this place at all costs!

Highly recommend their crunchy chicken bao burger - that one is soo good! I tried their steak bao burger but it had a tangy flavour I wasn't really fond of. The pork belly bao was okay to me - not a big fan of fatty pieces. Also ordered a satay chicken bowl and that was definitely a good choice. It comes with cucumbers which really adds some freshness to it, as well as an egg that helps bring all the flavours together quite nicely. Would definitely come back for a chicken bao burger and satay chicken bowl.

the big bird fried chicken topped with cucumber and our signature spicy mayo notorious p.i.g. braised pork belly with pickled veggies, sweet peanut crumble and our signature braise sauce the bun was lovely but the sandwich itself tasted too oily.

Lee is the one restaurant I look forward to every Summerlicious…read more One reason is that every year they create a completely new menu instead of reusing dishes from their regular menu. As an Asian fusion restaurant, I always come curious to see what new ideas the chef has come up with. The last two Summerlicious menus disappointed me a little--they felt a bit uninspired, with dishes like the vegetable curry and croquette. This year, however, the creativity is back, and I'd happily recommend Lee's Summerlicious menu again. Fried Wild Cod The crispy cod is served in an edible crispy rice basket, making it feel like sharing bread at the start of the meal. The fish is fried perfectly with a crisp exterior and moist, flaky interior. Paired with Thai sweet chili sauce, it's light, flavorful, and great for sharing. Gazpacho Picante A refreshing take on gazpacho. The avocado gives it a smoother texture, while the hint of spice adds another layer without overpowering the chilled tomato soup. Refreshing and a great appetizer. BBQ Jerk Pork Ribs Three generous ribs--almost a main course on their own. The meat is tender while still retaining a bit of bite, similar to the texture of slow-cooked jerk chicken. The jerk seasoning is excellent, coating every bite with rich, aromatic spices. Pan Roasted Salmon The salmon is beautifully cooked with a nicely caramelized exterior while remaining juicy inside. Each accompaniment brings something different: the olive tapenade is deeply savory, the parsnip purée is smooth and slightly sweet, the lima bean adds a creamy, nutty richness, and the lemon-tomato-pepper vinaigrette brightens everything with acidity and a gentle kick. Lima Bean Succotash Probably the prettiest dish on the menu--and also the most unusual. The lima beans and peas are cooked until tender without becoming mushy. The flavors are layered, but there's a subtle bitterness throughout. After asking the chef, we learned it's the natural flavor of lima beans and was intentionally preserved as part of the dish. Fried Organic Chicken The fried chicken is juicy and tender, reminding me of Japanese karaage. It comes with two fun sauces: one is rich and spicy with a hint of coconut, while the other is a sweet pineapple-lime mayo that pairs surprisingly well with the chicken. The pandan rice, however, was fairly ordinary. The desserts are still classic Lee--beautifully plated, but the flavors are more restrained. We tried the Rhubarb Almond Frangipane Tart, Lemon Mousse Panna Cotta (our favorite), and Strawberry Raspberry Monkey Bread. This year's Summerlicious reminded me why I fell in love with Lee in the first place.

After trying it I completely understood, this was the BEST salad of my life! All 26 ingredients worked together perfectly to make a delicious, tangy, crunchy salad unlike anything i've had before. I also highly recommend the wine paring they suggest having with the salad :) Everything else on the menu was done really well. The cheeseburger spring roll was quite unique, Indo think there could've been more texturally inside the actual spring roll, it was all mush in there. Very nice ambiance, service were very attentive, I had a great time and will be back to try more items :)

With prices of an upscale dining restaurant, the service didn't feel like it matched up; it was fairly mediocre. Food was a bit of a hit or miss for us too.. Shrimp toast: fun, good texture, could taste the oiliness stronger than I expected. Paired well with the emulsion. Fun guo: super tasty, quite greasy though. I typically don't order fun guo but the texture was a delight to eat. Pork & crab siu mai: this felt like it lacked identity, not really sure I saw the vision. It just felt like curry on a siu mai lol Iberico cha siu: beautiful cut, perfectly tender, good savouriness, no complaints. R&D fried rice: my biggest letdown. Maybe my expectations were set to high. For a house special, I would expect a solid crowd-pleaser. Having each bite feeling mostly like 'crunch' is not what I think of as fried rice nor a favourite for most people. My ideal fried rice focuses on the grains of rice, with substantial bite and flavour in each spoonful. The flavour was most definitely there, don't get me wrong but it was extremely hard to eat more than a bowl. The redeeming qualities were in the flavour and cute little mushroom garden concept. If they had maybe 2x the amount of rice for the ratio of toppings and crunch, I would say this is a delicious and near perfect fried rice. Not bad, but a hefty price tag for a meal that I had really high hopes for.

The mie goring we ordered was also very good, though I wish it came with more protein. My friend ordered the lamb spaducci as an appetizer, which he enjoyed. His kare kare main was a smaller portion, but was tasty. It did come with naan bread, which helped but didnt fill us up. For dessert, the three of us tried the panna cotta, chocolate cake, and honey toast. My favorite was the chocolate cake, but everyone had different preferences. I'd come back on a regular day to try more of their menu. I've been wanting to visit R&D for a while, and this was a solid first experience.

We had: - seafood pasta - Fried chicken w/ rice and peas - Pork noodles I especially enjoyed the seafood pasta as it was filling and flavorful. There was just one aspect that I found really annoying with these guys. It wasn't that they charged $20-30 per entree, no... because if other cuisines and restaurants can get away with that price point, there's no reason why Caribbean can't be elevated enough to as well. It's that they charged $5 for the most piddling amount of ox tail gravy.. the nickel and diming felt greedy and left me with a bad taste. I've already paid $20-30, don't charge me $5 for 2 tbsp of gravy. I wouldn't go back, but if you want to have a slightly elevated Caribbean experience and just vibe, it's not a bad option.

The tuna and salmon tasted very fresh, and the sweet-spicy Korean-style sauce made the whole dish feel bright, refreshing, and really appetizing. I also loved the potato dumplings.. crisp on the outside, but soft and pleasantly chewy inside, with a very smooth texture. The arugula salad was a great complement and added a nice fresh balance to the meal. The real standout for me, though, was the kalbi. It was incredibly tender and full of rich flavor. It almost melted in the mouth, with that satisfying buttery, savory richness that meat lovers would definitely appreciate. The cocktails were also fun and well done. I tried a few, and all of them were enjoyable. Some even had a smoky presentation, which made the experience feel a little more special. The service was another strong point. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the dinner feel smooth from start to finish. Everything came out at a comfortable pace, and the overall hospitality really added to the experience. As for the ambience, it felt stylish, intimate, and a little moody in a good way. The lighting and presentation gave the dinner a polished feel, but it was still relaxed enough to enjoy comfortably.
