Best decision ever. Hands down. If you're on the fence, just do it. It's worth the money. It's worth every penny. It's the one thing I'll be suggesting to EVERYONE considering moving forward with a big wedding. I could not have done this without her. I've planned company holiday parties before, I've done major events, but a wedding is a whole different ball game. We did the partial wedding package, so basically month of she takes over everything. But even the months leading up to it, I could have her review every contract, get advice on verbiage to add in, advice on varying things I needed to ensure for the different vendors or schedule or tastings. She is very familiar with the University Club of SF (our venue), as well as many local vendors. Using some of them off her preferred list, I got discounts as well as amazing service from EVERY vendor she suggested. Leading up to everything, she walked us through a timeline, helped us make decisions (or helped us to even know what decisions we needed to make), helped us through what needs to be set up by when. She kept me on track, even when I felt so overwhelmed. Day of, I was stressed. I'm just the type of person that notices everything wrong, even if it's things I couldn't control. I'm going to preference this by saying that being in the wedding industry myself means that I'm super picky about who I wanted to be part of my dream wedding planning team. I've worked alongside Robin for numerous years which meant that when it was my turn to get married I couldn't imagine anyone running the show other than the wedding pro herself. My fiance and I had a very long engagement as it was a year and 8 months out but then come March 2020 we were in a shelter in place order which inevitably made us postpone our wedding 3 different times. We had three rental companies, two caterers, a separate staffing company, and lots of DIY aspects. Robin was proficient and professional every step of the way and far exceeded the duties set out in her contract. We considered several other planners before finding Robin, but it was clear that Robin was the best fit for us. During my first call with Robin, before we had a contract, she really took the time to understand our vision for the wedding. She was genuinely excited! She drafted a comprehensive "month-of" contract, and her fee was more than fair for the service she was offering. Some "day-of" planners who charge similar rates only kick into gear two weeks before the big day, but one month is far more reasonable to spot and solve any problems. In addition to managing the wedding timeline, conducting the rehearsal, and managing the flow of the day, Robin agreed to help review contracts, perform a walk through at the venue, and take part in the food tasting with the caterer. It was great to see Robin in person a couple of times before our big day to iron out some of the details. Also, Robin only works one wedding per weekend, and it was great to know from the get-go that she would be totally focused on us during our special day. Contracting Contracting is a huge part of the wedding planning process, and even though I am familiar with the language of contracts, it was incredibly valuable to have a diligent expert like Robin during this process. When I couldn't find a vendor myself, she made introductions and inquiries to look for the best fit for me. Robin would carefully review each contract I received, making sure that the deposits, deadlines, and cancellation terms made sense. We went in to our big day not only knowing what would happen if everything went perfectly, but also what would happen if something went wrong. Robin answered all email inquiries promptly during this process. She also gained a perfect understanding of our vision for the day. Her mind is razor-sharp and she remembers every detail. She executed perfectly in the end because she knew exactly what we wanted all along. Timeline Robin sent out a timeline to all the vendors a month before the big day. This was a super useful tool to make sure that every task had an owner (even something as simple as setting up a lawn game) and that everyone had enough time to perform their tasks. It helped synchronize the deliveries, hair and makeup artists, photographers, and more, and is perhaps the single most useful document a wedding planner can generate before the wedding. Robin also demands confirmation from all vendors, which is great for ensuring that you have as few surprises as possible on the wedding day. The Wedding Day This is when I understood why Robin calls her business "Make It Happen." She arrived at the venue early to make sure things were in place, and a couple of things had already gone off the rails. Our staffing company showed up without ice, which we had contracted with them to bring, and our caterer got a flat tire and was over two hours late. Robin stepped in and helped the staffing company set up while one team member went to get ice, and quickly made contingency plans to account for the caterer's lateness. She managed to set help set up the welcome area, get us ready for the processional, manage the flow of the day, and pay all the vendors at the end of the evening while constantly helping the staffing and catering companies. This is far in excess of what she was contracted for, but she did what was needed and was totally unfazed. Robin shielded my wife and me from dealing with the chaos, which allowed us to really enjoy our wedding. There is really no way to thank her fully for everything she did for us that day. Summary Because of Robin's hard work throughout the planning process and especially on our wedding day, everything went on as scheduled and the venue looked absolutely beautiful despite some pretty major setbacks. My mom and I hired her for heavy month-of planning but she was really able to start helping us plan, go over vendor contracts, and give us vendor references as soon as we hired her (about 9 months prior to the wedding). There was one instance where we needed a vendor referral for linens, chairs and china and she saved us a lot of money. She was also great at thinking of small details that my mom and I missed. For example, she worked with the florist to find ways to reuse flowers from the church to the reception and tried to find a way to reuse my bouquet. She remembered details such as having a glass bowl for wedding cards that my mom and I had forgotten about. She was great even in emergency situations! One of my bustles came out from my dress and she had an emergency kit on her with a safety pin to help fix my dress immediately. We had our July 8th wedding at the Club at Ruby Hill and it was just magical. Robin Lewis was our wedding planner and we had the most wonderful experience working with Robin. She communicated with us well and often. She is professional, personable and is an absolute pro in her field. Like my husband and I, Robin is very detail oriented and we had no doubt that all the details we envisioned would come to fruition. She definitely understood our simple and romantic vision for our wedding. When meeting our wedding party the day of the rehearsal, she made everyone feel comfortable, was courteous, and our family only had positive and kind things to say about Robin. The day of our wedding, Robin was fiercely protective of us as a couple and made sure that we really enjoyed our day, made sure we enjoyed our meals, asked if we needed anything and just doted on us. The wedding party was beautiful but the wedding planner was subpar. Robin was rude to some of the guest and disheveled. She seemed so unorganized and a hot mess. I asked her a question about the drinks (I won't get into it because it would be a whole paragraph) and she just plain ignored me. I asked her again and replied "I don't work here at the venue" when I knew that she WAS the wedding planner. I know that the bride was very stressed up to the wedding day but the planner should have taken more initiative in the planning. Congratulations! You are now done in your search for a planner. This is it! Robin was amazing helping plan for and of course, organize everything on the day of for our special day. Everything went smoothly; in fact, I was nervous because things were going so well. I've been at other weddings where something doesn't goes as planned and was waiting, but everything was seamless. Everyone was seated on time, people knew exactly where they were going, things flowed well, and everyone had a great time. We didn't have to manage timetables (as Robin plans everything out to the minute and knows who should be where at all times) and were free to just meet our guests and enjoy the experience. I guess the greatest testament to how organized Robin was, how seamlessly everything went was that I had the most fun that I've ever had at a wedding while doing absolutely nothing on the day of! HIRE Robin!!! Where do I even begin?! A year ago, I decided I was going to be in charge of planning my own wedding. Since my husband and I anticipated a large wedding of ~200 guests, we knew we would need a month-of/day-of wedding coordinator. We did not want to have to rely on a friend or family member to take care of all the logistics - it's just not fair to that one person. You really need a professional if you want everything to go as smooth as possible. I found Robin through reading reviews on YELP and after my husband and I spoke to her on the phone, we knew right away that she thoroughly understood our needs and that she was the right wedding coordinator for us. She is a very professional and seasoned wedding planner/coordinator and we felt a sense of ease, knowing that we would have her in charge. Robin guided me throughout my planning process, providing me with a list of vendor referrals, answering any questions I had when I negotiated quotes/contracts/hotel room blocks, gave me tips on décor and design, and even provided me with her own wedding checklist to keep me on track and on time. As I booked my vendors, I found out that a lot of them had worked with Robin in the past (or at least knew of her) and they all had positive things to say. She has a solid reputation throughout the Bay Area, and rightfully so. Prior to the month of our wedding, Robin acted as the liaison between my husband and I and our wedding venue/vendors. We picked Robin to be our month of coordinator for our wedding in November in San Francisco. She was the MVP of the entire event. Once we signed a contract with her, we had unlimited access to her via email and she answered all of my (and my mother's) questions immediately and efficiently. She was exactly what I wanted in a coordinator and put me to ease very quickly. About a month before the wedding, we sat down and filled out a complete timeline from Friday to Sunday. Minute by minute detail - most things I wouldn't have even thought about, but made the day even more special to us. We were so on top of the timeline we actually ran early for almost everything the day of the wedding. As someone that is punctual, I really appreciated this. After the wedding, she transported all of our personal items we brought to the venue (cards, photographs, vintage tasting flutes, etc) back to respective hotel rooms. GET A WEDDING PLANNER! I came into this wedding planning process thinking that I could do everything myself. For some reason I thought that having a wedding planner was over the top and unnecessary. I WAS SO WRONG. This is the MOST important advice I give all of my friends, especially the newly engaged ones. However you need to work it into your budget, do it. I do not know what I would have done without Robin Lewis from Make It Happen! She was so much more than a wedding planner for us. She was a consultant, a sounding board, even a therapist at times. I tell everyone that Robin was worth double what she charged us. She has been in the industry for 20+ years and her knowledge and experience is invaluable. It felt like she knew everyone in the bay area! Every single one of our vendors raved about Robin and most of them even offered us a discount because we were working with her. She gets to know you AND your fiance and only recommends vendors who match your personality, style, and budget. This list alone is worth the money. Most of us haven't planned a wedding before so to have this list of vendors who Robin knows well, trusts, and has worked with before, was one of the most comforting things. I have so many friends who have planned their own wedding and picked random vendors and ended up getting taken advantage of or even worse. I felt so grateful for Robin when I heard these stories. I felt like I was the only bride and wedding she was ever working with. I was her priority. She answers emails very promptly and if you aren't an email person she will take your call. All my other vendors loved working with her too. The actually wedding day I could focus on me and just be in the moment because I had developed a professional relationship of trust.
