My family booked Makenzie to act as the wedding photographer for my wedding, which took place in spring 2016.
I have very few regrets from my wedding day, but one of them is that I chose Makenzie to be our wedding photographer. If I had known the quality of service and photographs that I would receive, I would not have trusted her with documenting any occasion, let alone one of the most important days of my life.
These are the main reasons as to why I regret choosing Makenzie Photography:
1.Some of the wedding photos were lost in her care.
2.Some of the posed wedding photos that we did receive are blurry, have one of the subject's eyes closed, and/or have one of the subjects cut out of the picture.
3.Due to the lost photos and other poor images, I requested to see the photos from the wedding footage and choose more to be edited. She refused.
4.In my opinion, she made poor choices when photographing on the wedding day.
5.The wedding photos were delivered more than 1.5 months later than indicated.
6.She practiced poor communication, in my opinion, sometimes taking a week or more to respond to messages.
7.She never provided a contract after I requested one several times.
8.She posted our wedding photos to her personal Facebook profile (which she uses for business) without notice or permission.
In my opinion, Makenzie's behavior was unprofessional, disrespectful, and reflective of a disregard for the magnitude of photographing someone's wedding.
If you have any questions, feel free to message me.
I have explained some of the reasons below (wordcount limited my response):
1.An unknown number of photos from my wedding day were lost in Makenzie's care, and she did not even notice that they were missing until I pointed it out upon receiving the wedding day photos from her. I had asked for individual photos with each of my bridesmaids, because these poses were important to me and my friends who looked forward to having them as a memento, and these were some of the photos that she says were stolen out of her camera bag months after our wedding day. Even after the day that she said her home was broken into, she assured me that my photos were safe. She couldn't tell me whether they were just lost or actually stolen until some time had passed, which tells me that she was not sure of exactly where the photos had been stored. Since it is unrealistic and unlikely that these few photos were stored separately from all of the other photos of the wedding day (they were taken by the second shooter and would have likely been stored with the photos she took), there are likely other photos of our wedding day with them that we'll never get to see.
2.When Makenzie originally gave me access to the photos she had edited, a number of family and bridal party photographs were fuzzy, meaning even when not viewing at 100% zoom, I noticed blurred lines along people's faces as well as in the rest of the photo. This includes the only picture she gave to us with my husband and I with his immediate family in which all of us have our eyes open. I printed an 8x10 of this photo at full resolution for my mother-in-law, and you can clearly see the blurred lines in the photo. This is also true for the only pictures she gave to us of the bridal party all together (us with our bridesmaids and groomsmen). This was true for other important family and bridal party photos as well.
In some pictures of posed shots for which she gave me only one choice (i.e. I didn't get to see multiple shots of the same pose), one of the subject's eyes are closed. In the ONLY picture she gave me of me, my mother, and my sister after we were in our dresses on the wedding day, my mom's eyes are closed. In the ONLY picture she gave me of me with my bridesmaids all looking at the camera, one of my bridesmaids eyes are closed.
When I pointed out to Makenzie these blurry photos and photos with subjects' eyes closed, she was able to fix or find alternatives for some, but not all, and it forced me to wait even longer for my photos and to start on the album. She did find a much better photo of me, my mom, and my sister in the same pose but with all of our eyes open. I felt relieved to have the better picture, but I felt angry when I saw that she obviously had a much better photo (same pose, same location, etc.) and somehow she had chosen to give me the one with my mother's eyes closed instead.
4. Out of the 3 posed pictures I have with the entire bridal party (me, my husband, the groomsmen, and the bridesmaids), two of them were blurry (she fixed one of them once I pointed it out), and one of them has one of the groomsmen cut out from the picture (she could not find an alternative with no one cut out from the picture).
She did not take pictures of some details that are commonly photographed, and she took pictures in which the tops of subjects' heads are cut off.
8. I also had to request these posted photos. She did not originally provide them all in our collection. read more
