In Wilmington the outdoor bars are few and far between. This is a cute alley spot with a covered bar, picnic tables, and a food truck. There are tvs around which is nice when a game is on and they were having trivia by the end of the night. I had to knock a few stars off because their drinks were underwhelming and used tons of mixers. The aesthetic is cute but they need to update their decor. The fake plants and flowers are not passable anymore and several things were rusted. Food was really good but had limited options. The menu was also not clear which made things a bit complicated. read more

Super cute beer garden! My friends and I arrived alittle after they opened on a Saturday afternoon. Luckily the happy hour was still going. I got their version of an espresso martini and it was pretty good! We sat outside at the picnic tables. There is a little food truck on the side that serves food nice and hot. We just came from lunch but as I was drinking I had to order the burger that won burger battle 2023! Food came out fast and the burger was delicious . Great spot to meet up with a large group of friends on a weekday. The place isn't too large but it was pretty quiet on Tuesday so we had the place mostly to ourselves. They have happy hour until 7 pm. Good beers and pub food (chicken roll and tots) for a low cost. The food came out quickly and it's self serve utensils. They have a giant jenga, connect 4, and cornhole although one of the bags was leaking beans. read more

Makers Alley is a fun new addition to the downtown Wilmington scene. The beer garden/bar quietly opened just off of Market Street within the past few weeks and boasts a gorgeous outdoor space with picnic tables and Adirondack chairs set up among heating units and fire pits. They also have a small bar inside of a converted garage, which allows them to open/close the door to connect their two spaces. It was a chilly fall evening when we visited, so we chose a spot inside, though the garage door was open for the earlier part of our visit. The bar had around 2 dozen beers on tap (and one tap dedicated to a cocktail!) and offered $1 off all the drafts for their 4-6PM happy hour. Their menu includes a handful of wines as well, and they did have liquor behind the bar but I didn't catch if they had a specific cocktail menu. Food-wise, they offer a variety of bar snacks, sandwiches, and tacos. The menu is displayed on a roll of paper mounted on the wall, which suggests it gets rewritten and potentially rotates frequently. You order your food from a tablet at the bar and then pick it up from the mobile kitchen outside. We tried the pretzel bites, which had a delicious garlic butter brushed onto them and came with a yummy cheese sauce, as well as the parmesan tater tots, which were standard --- good but not mind-blowing. There are TVs at the bar if you're looking for a place to watch a game, and they also had board games on hand. There is a parking lot across the street, but I am not sure of the fees because we opted for street parking (free after 6PM). read more

A really nice downtown Wilminton addition! A small-ish but very indoor bar and heaps of outdoor seating, with a fire pit & games. Excellent beverage selection. Orders may be given at the bar or via app or tablet. The food selection is a wee bit limited, but the burger I got was quite good. Actually had 2 amazing stouts we had never tried before and the oversized bacon/cheese/chives tater tots were bomb with a perfect ranch for dipping. Love this place! It's a bar with an outdoor space that is inviting and comfortable. There are adroniak chairs with a fire pit, long picnic tables for groups, small tables and bar seating. The music is good with a decent level, so you can still talk. The band x-presidents was amazing. They were fun, interactive and played great music most of the night. I would come back again to hear them, and to enjoy the fun vibe. Nowadays people want to be able to converse and feel comfy while having good food and drinks. This place met that standard. The fish tacos were deliscious and a little on the spicy side (there was an option to not not have spicy aioli sauce but I decided to try it). Drinks were great! I tried the strawberry vodka, lime, lemon and sprite drink and it was refreshing. Will definitely be back. read more

It was a nice place to go visit plenty people great vibes and good music. Even had a fireplace, heaters are back in an awesome view with airstream out back. They also had a unique garden with the flowers on the wall rock wall to be seated and you could even sit around the fireplace. It was just like a guy he was like a fly he just kept bothering people was the only day security did his job and got them out of there so that was a plus. It was such a great lotta people are social distancing outside they had heating for people to chill and chat. What stuck out the most outback was the airstream, and the wall that had the plants, and the rocks we can sit next to him stay cozy and actually hear people talking to each other. The lights made the ambience so great and cozy. The bar was nice inside I liked that they had a wide variety of drinks and a list for that matter. The bar was placed perfect in the middle and you can easily get around it and it played a major part in the servers and stuff getting around. I looked up and seen the ceiling was more industrial I kind of really liked it it was very unique. It was kind of getting annoyed that this guy kept getting up condo and making people buy him drinks or made it sound like he wanted people to buy him drinks, but the security got them out of there. There was another guy sitting in the back as well he's very nice, he actually got the service to come over so it made a little bit better.This could've easily been a 5 Star Venue. the weather played a part in which It's something that we can not easily change but overall it was a great place to be at. The wings were so good with the Korean barbecue on it, the tacos were decent, the beer was good cause it was not mainstream and vizzy was definitely refreshing as I didn't want to pack on a ton of calories. When they first opened they were a solid weekend spot in the spring/summer with good drinks, good food and good music with a cult following. Unfortunately, the vibe has fell way off from too many staff changes to little to no entertainment. It's kinda like just any other regular bar now lol I guess it's still good for the seasonal seating outdoors. Super cute bar in Wilmington with indoor/outdoor space + good food. This is the perfect space for a girls night out or a date night cocktail. I've been here twice over the past couple years and would like to go more often! It's super cute inside. I think they have turntables with records and games in the back corner, which is fun. There's a large outdoor space behind the bar and they can open an overhead door to bring the outside in. They have at least one fire pit and food, being served out of a little airstream kitchen. Went to hang out for a bit and we were going to meet some friends. Walked in and it was fairly empty inside but that didn't matter. Inside was nice and the outside looked amazing. After we sat down a bartender eventually made his way down to us after sitting at the bar on a computer and eating. Licking his fingers and not washing his hands. Finally took our order and made the drinks. Sat there and listened to some music which was good. Bartender didn't come back. He was on his laptop and scratching his head constantly. Not certain why he was even there because he wasn't interested in working at all. A few other guys came in and out from behind the bar. We texted our friends not to come because the service was horrible and we finally got the tab and left. Really a shame. Clearly not interested in serving customers. My beautiful GF and I went on a Friday evening, and grabbed a spot at the bar as it was grey and drizzly for the lovely beer garden. Beer list and cocktails were on point, bartenders were friendly and attentive although they were busy. We enjoyed our appetizers, had a great time and will surely be back. Phenomenal experience at Maker's Alley! Top notch beer, food, atmosphere, and staff. I have been here over a dozen times, and every time is an amazing experience. I am able to take puppy Zeke here, as the GM Durrell is very accommodating. Definitely a lifetime customer! The entire staff is extremely welcoming and attentive. I have had almost the entire menu over the past few months. My favorites are the tacos and wings. Maker's is consistently hosting events and bringing together people. Super cool Place.. mix of beer, cocktails and food. Dog friendly! They had bowls for water. They have blankets outside for peeps when it is cold, board games, hammocks, and 1 fire pit. Such a great spot! The tech set up for ordering from your table and picking it up when you get a text is an awesome option. The food truck pumps out AWESOME food! The drinks are really well made.
