The entire process was easy, efficient and quick. I scheduled my pickup date/time over the phone, storage bags arrived in advance and on the day of the pickup Alex and Kevin arrived within the designated timeframe. They even texted me when they were on the way. They were polite, friendly and fast. I later received an email with pictures of my inventory. Moving out during a pandemic gave me serious anxiety, and then I found MakeSpace. They sent me 30 FREE storage bags (that they place into storage bins on arrival for quick turnover); I packed up my bags and placed them in my hallway when they arrived. They came in and dissembled my furniture for me, wrapped up what doesn't fit in those bags and were in and out in less than 2 hours. They wore masks and were incredibly efficient which allowed for very minimal interaction. I wish I could give more than 5 stars; HIGHLY recommend. Thank you Darrius, Jovannj, Deion and Nick! One person packed and the other two helped us move furniture and boxes from our third floor unit to their truck. They are overpriced and scam you out of money at every opportunity they have. They say you're "locking in a quote" and then change it upon pickup to get more money. This is my first Yelp review, but I'm here to tell you DON'T MAKE MY MISTAKE. Do NOT use this service. Seriously. I booked MakeSpace in July or August 2020 to come disassemble furniture, move it, and store it on moving weekend (Aug 28) as I was leaving the country. They were supposed to come on Saturday between 12pm and 4pm. They said they were running late, which was problematic as I had a flight to catch at 9PM! Anyway, they call at 4PM saying sorry you're on your own. ON MOVING WEEKEND. They first said the truck was full; I asked for movers to disassemble my stuff then and move it to storage if I provide a vehicle. Then they said they're short on labor too. Then they said their storage is 2 hours away. In short, they bailed on me and gave me no options. Just check the comments on their FB and Instagram ads (where they apparently spend their money). You will notice that this is not uncommon, most people call them out for bailing, being unreliable, and increasing the size of storage without need. Save your money... read more

TLDR: movers showed up 2.5 hours late, decided the apartment building would be too much work, and canceled without even a phone call. I reserved a pickup with MakeSpace. At the time I told the phone agent, Eric, that they would have to get a parking permit if they wanted to get close to the building. Eric said they would look into doing so. Today the movers showed up 2.5 hours late to our appointment, after me calling the operations center and hounding them about a missing team. Finally, the driver texted me his ETA. They get to the apartment and decided it looked too difficult to move to, and canceled the whole thing. The driver didn't call or let me know, despite having my phone number. I got a voicemail from a 1-800 number saying my move had been canceled. If anyone had bothered to speak to me first, I could have told them about the space I held for them to park in, despite them not getting a permit. I called for help and got no support whatsoever, just that they couldn't operate at that location (total crap) and that the whole thing was canceled. As you can imagine, when you move you rely on someone without a lot of contingency plans and to cancel without even a courtesy phone call is absurd. Knocked off a star because they were an hour late, which as I had my stuff in a rental car partially screwed me over, but on the other hand for my part I am very bad at spatial reasoning and had many more items to store than I expected and they were still game and helped me consolidate and get it all in! They cancelled on me two days before my move on the most busy moving weekend of the year in Boston. Told me their next available date was 10 days later when the next tenants will have to be in. They offered no compensation for the extreme inconvenience. If you aren't 10 days flexible with your timeline, don't use MakeSpace. UPDATE: While this was obviously still inconvenient, MakeSpace did completely cover the moving help I hired after they cancelled as well as the cost of the moving permit. read more

Well I'm one of those people that do things in a rush, even moving! And in that rush I happened to pack up my passport (abstent mindedly, in a way that I had no idea which one it was). Which is fine until I realized Friday night at 10pm that I have an international flight the next day and that my passport is in a warehouse an hour away from my house. Luckily Stashable saved me, starting with Allen on the phone, then Kevin Lockary and Justin Lewis from the warehouse. They let me come in (when the warehouse was closed), search through my piles of things and head back in time for my flight! I was running late (took a while to find that passport!) so I left my tarantula cage open at my Airbnb rental and got a video message later that week of a web coming down from the cage, but I guess that's for a different slightly less positive review for me elsewhere. read more

MakeSpace (now called Clutter) is the worst company I've ever had to deal with. Their movers showed up late and told me they couldn't finish. I scrambled to get a hold of their customer service, who said their next available date was a month out and didn't seem to comprehend the idea of a lease ending and a security deposit being forfeited. I then had to scramble to find alternative moving and storage, and by the time I did, Clutter movers were gone with my belongings. I was lucky enough to find movers and storage, but I didn't want to cancel my Clutter appt mid-move if I wasn't going to be able to find a storage unit the appropriate size. Clutter then said they wouldn't allow my other movers to pick up the things their movers had JUST dropped off. Meanwhile, the next available date for me to get my stuff delivered is months from now. Bottom line: They get to profit from being overbooked. Their schedule being full means they can hold onto your stuff longer and charge you for it. Do not waste your time. They are a scam. read more

Don't use this service. We trusted them with all of our belongings for 12 months while we waited for a new home to be ready, and they returned 30% of those things damaged and beyond repair. They also delivered the items over a month after we moved in to the new place. We provided receipts of the damaged property and requested a refund for a portion of the amount, worth several thousand dollars, and they refused to recognize or reimburse this amount despite a mountain of evidence and months of frustration and phone calls. Talking to other folks who have used the service suggests that this is a poor experience that we share with many. There are so many great moving and storage companies out there, please do yourself a favor and don't work with Make Space. You'll save yourself lots of misery, money and frustration. read more

They cancelled my appointment not once, but twice. This was two days before I had to move out of my apartment. I had everything packed and ready for them, and they left and cancelled my appointment without a response as to why. I was able to add more items last minute as well. If you are in or around Boston, absolutely never use MakeSpace. My experience with delivery staff members Ramsey and Rich was utterly horrible. My items were thrown around, they got in altercations with neighbors and we were repeatedly cussed at throughout the appointment. 30+ items have been damaged. My property has also been damaged. They refused to move anything beyond the front door because they had "other sh-t to do." A scheduled 3 hour appointment turned into 20 minutes of them throwing around my furniture, glassware, electronics and paintings and shoving them into the hallway. Again, NEVER use this service. Completely atrocious and unacceptable behavior by the delivery staff with little support from Customer Service beyond sending me damage claim reports to fill. read more

The customer service and professionalism was fantastic. Once I requested an appointment, I was contacted nearly immediately by phone to clarify what needed to be stored and brought up to speed on how everything works. When the team (Nick, Mark, and Ramsey) arrived to pick up my things, they were very professional and walked me through the process. I've been waiting to give this review. They canceled on me on the first snow of the winter while I was outside waiting for them for 30 minutes. I looked like a fool. They were there but brought their biggest truck, after I told them that the streets in north end are small - which they have on record. They told me they're canceling and that was it. I was leaving the next morning and needed to find movers that day since I had a moving permit only for that day! It was the most stressfull thing ever and I needed to pay 5 times the price then expected because of how last minute it was. I was looking for a storage place as I was finishing my basement. I came across MakeSpace-Boston and instantly was pleased. All I had to do was pack my belongings and move them outdoors (due to COVID-19) and the came the next and picked it up and stored the items for three months and than brought them back without any damages and the cost was reasonable (under $100) compared to other companions. We scheduled our move over a month ago and have been in constant communication with the company. Less than 36 hours before the scheduled move (our lease ends the next day so legally have to vacate our apartment) the company flat out cancelled with no explanation offering us a date 11 days away. I have experienced problem after problem from MakeSpace and can definitively say I will not use this service again nor recommend it. The day of pickup, the movers were outside complaining of the work going into moving the apartment. While I understand it was hot l and it's the North End which makes moving less that ideal - it's their job, they should keep it professional. I was returning from work as they were moving (my parents let them in) so they did not know the apartment belonged to me and I could hear what they were saying. Secondly, they dropped my bed frame on the way out of my apartment damaging the corner. It also looks like there was a water stain. Thirdly, when it came time to return my belongings, I got an email stating the delivery would not be initiated because my items were not processed in time and this was a fault of the facility. When I called customer service l, they told me they could reschedule the delivery for 6 days later. I found this to be unacceptable and complained thus receiving my belongings two days later. They offered to comp the delivery. After my belongings were delivered, I was then in fact charged the $100 delivery fee despite it was supposed to be compensated. I had to call, again, and sort this out. It was refunded. Now, I have a bed frame that is only two years old with torn cloth on the corner and a very noticeable stain. My night stand was also dented and discolored, but that was not so much a big deal. All in all, they want to compensate me a fraction for the frame that cost me $200, which means I cannot replace it and I will be stuck looking at a damaged item. read more

STAY AWAY - FRAUDULENT AND SCAM. First off, it looks like all of the positive reviews are appearing at the top (I wouldn't be surprised if those reviews were illegitimate). We were scheduled to move on 8/30 and had confirmed our date and time 6-8 weeks prior to our move. I had been in constant contact with our sales rep (Daniella) once a week, to ensure everything was still going to go as planned. We had to be out of our apartment by 8/31 and so it was very time-sensitive. Less than two days before our move I got a call from MakeSpace saying that they needed to cancel my reservation (there was no reason provided, something about overbooking) and they would email me suggested alternatives. TWO DAYS before we were supposed to move on the busiest weekend of the year and they wanted us to just find some other alternative and canceled our reservation. Arguably the worst customer experience I have ever dealt with - and the customer service team was even less helpful. Stay away at all costs even if you think you are getting a good deal. It will not be worth it when they inevitably cancel at the last minute. read more

I needed to store some furniture and boxes to clear out a few rooms and found that Stashable was better than any self-storage option I could have used. I was able to do everything online and schedule the delivery of the boxes I needed in advance at no extra charge. Jose came back to my house a few days later to pick up everything. He even came prepared with extra stickers pre-printed, so that I was able to add on a few extra items that I needed to store. Jose was careful, conscientious, on time and incredibly friendly and helpful with explaining all of the services that Stashable offers. I also received immediate follow up emails and a phone call from Christine, my personal call center representative, confirming the delivery and pick up schedules and receipt of all my items.
