Wow one year later I unfortunately have to make a not so great update to my review. Dina is a talented makeup artist, but she's not reliable. My sister had reached out to Dina to hire her to do her hair and makeup for an event this weekend seven weeks ago and on the morning of the event Dina informed my sister she won't make it and sent someone that was not prepared or knew what service: she was providing to my sister. Dina has since repeatedly lied about my sisters despite there being an email chain with all the details in writing. I will definitely not book with her again. read more

I booked Dina Saddat seven weeks in advance for a wedding I was attending on June 13. I was not a new client--I had first met Dina when my sister hired her for a religious ceremony, and I was impressed with her work. We agreed that she would arrive at my home at 2:30 PM, with hair and makeup completed by 4:00 PM. Although Dina was slow to respond to emails throughout the booking process, I liked her makeup artistry and chose to be patient. The evening before the wedding, I texted her to provide my cell phone number in case she had any difficulty finding my community. She did not respond until 7:48 AM the next morning, when she informed me that she might not be able to make it and would instead send a "senior stylist" from her team. When I expressed my frustration, she dismissed my concerns and suggested she was doing me a favor by arranging a replacement. She also implied she might still be able to make it herself. At 2:04 PM on the day of my appointment, Dina finally confirmed that she would not be coming and that her "senior stylist" would arrive at 3:00 PM--already 30 minutes later than our scheduled start time. When I questioned the delay, Dina claimed that my appointment had always been scheduled for 3:00 PM. Fortunately, I have the email correspondence clearly showing that we agreed on a 2:30 PM start time. When the replacement stylist arrived, it became immediately obvious that she had not been properly briefed. She didn't even know whether I was scheduled for hair, makeup, or both. She also told me that Dina had only contacted her shortly before sending her to my appointment. The experience quickly became frustrating and stressful. The stylist ignored my requests and preferences throughout the appointment, and I ultimately asked her to leave before she even finished my makeup. This was one of the most unprofessional experiences I have ever had with a beauty service provider. Dina was unreliable, disorganized, and showed little regard for a client who had booked well in advance and was depending on her for an important event. While I understand that unexpected circumstances can arise, waiting until the day of the appointment to make alternative arrangements--and then sending someone who was completely unprepared--is unacceptable. I am especially disappointed because I had previously recommended Dina to friends. Based on my experience, I would never trust her with hair or makeup services for an important occasion, nor would I recommend that anyone else do so. Your wedding day or special event should be as stress-free as possible, and unfortunately, my experience with Dina was the exact opposite. read more

Dina is amazing, she got me ready for a family wedding, I have never had such flawless make-up done in the past and I have paid a lot of money for hair and make-up. I do not think I have ever felt so beautiful and so flawless in the past. The products and the finish was just phenomenal. It is a good thing and a bad thing because she is in Southern California and I live in Norcal, now every time I get my make-up done, I am never satisfied because it does not match with her level of work and I expect to look like that every single time. She is not only an artist who just paints the picture, she understands face profile and she understands the shape of your eyes and the type of make-up and style you need to enhance your features which I never knew until she explained it. UPDATE: Anyone who knows me knows I show much respect for individuals as well as businesses. I am an ELITE Yelp reviewer for my tactful and honest reviews. Kindness and compassion from this business was lacking only because the contract was questioned. I will not be bickering back and forth any further. You all can judge for yourself and just be careful to read the contract and question it before you sign it. Contract as is does not protect the client in any way, shape or form. That was my mistake and I admitted it and as you all can see still chose to keep my end of the bargain. To attack someone's personality is a whole new low. People read emails differently I guess. I'm about business and not on a friend level with whom I employ for quick services. To now question if someone is respectful due to questioning a contract is not tactful. I had an important event less than 24 hrs notice the business cancelled my services because all I did was ask questions about the contract and telling this business I was not being thrilled being charged extra fees because I could not make my original flight to DC due to weather which even shut the government down. Please be sure to read full review for all details. UPDATE: I had two days of services scheduled with this business. As you can see by the response from the owner of this business, she was uncomfortable with my email because I told her I could not make it to DC for my first appointment due to weather (government was even shut down) and she still wanted me to pay. I then rose above that and still let her know I would want her for the next day and even pay for the service she didn't give me the day before) yet she cancelled on me w/ less than 24 hr notice because I was not happy that she was going to make me pay for the day before even though I literally could not make the appointment because I wasn't in state yet).. even though I was not happy about a $100 cancelation fee I had told her I would still pay it along with the service she also promised to provide for me the very next day. Thankfully she's right on one thing - I was not a client of her and it all turned out for me as Michelle Obama's makeup artist was able to fit me in and he did an AMAZING job. He was much less stress and drama than this ended up to be. Now, for my original review before response from owner: Holy cow. Worst experience EVER. Because of a horrible storm, my flight was cancelled and then delayed to DC. I was unable to make it in time for my appointment. The government was even shut down!! Dina still wanted to charge me a cancellation fee, even though I explained to her it was out of my control. I had two appointments. One today (which I was unable to make) and one tomorrow. I told her I would let her know about tomorrow / and did so telling her I would like to proceed for tomorrow - however, as you can see SHE cancelled on me even though I told her I would have her money ready for her, just to let me know what I would owe. This is disgustingly unprofessional and just before a large event in DC. Here I am less than 24 hrs without someone to do hair and makeup. I do NOT recommend this place at all. So at first after my end results I was like Umm this is a lot of make up and I felt like I looked like a drag queen. I knew after 10 people were raving about how great my make up looked and how exceptionally awesome they will look in pictures, that I shouldn't be worried. I don't even wear make up on my face during the week, so having make up done as is was a lot for me so this is why I reacted like this initially. I got my make up done for my cousin's wedding and reception, and Dina listened to everything I had to say on what look I was going for....and I loved both looks! She did awesome on all the other girls too, no body had any complaints at all!
