When the drive-thru line gets long, I park and use the walk-up coz duh, I have legs and don't wanna wait an extra 15 minutes. Two visits back I noticed the walk-up window was closed, and since the drive-thru line was looong, we left. No sale. Last time, as I drove up, I saw a long drive-thru line, but also a person being serve at the walk-up. So I parked my car, but as I approached the walk-up window, it was closed again. I knocked on it. A woman opened the window, and said "this window is closed, we're short-handed today", and then just closed the window in my face. No apology. Didn't invite me to get into the drive-thru line. No sale. Again. To the owner: my money is as green as the people sitting in their cars @ the drive-thru. So either hire more help, or teach your employees how to manage more than one window at a time...and some manners.

This is a nice little oasis in the middle of the vast Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - while it is part of the LCDZ resort, parking is free, so if you're just driving through, you can probably just park to grab a bite.

I read that the owner of the French Gourmet bought Dudley's and promised not to make any changes to…read morethe baked goods.  That does not appear to be the case.  We showed up at 1pm on Wednesday and it was quiet.  In the past there was a big lunch crowd and the shelves were full of fresh baked breads and pies.   Supposedly, breads are baked every other day now.  I bought a loaf of Hawaiian sweet bread and it was at least a day old.  I suspect more like 2 days old.  The outside was starting to get hard while just the center was soft.  There was an aroma of bread sitting around for a while.  King's Hawaiian bread from Costco has a fresher aroma and has a fresher more vibrant flavor while you get twice as much bread for the price. Ed was super awesome in our initial communication, being flexible with our arrival time, taking plenty of time instructing us on the bikes, and quick pick-up after we were done. He came out with a cool customized two-bike custom trailer hitched up to the back of his prius. Had a great time, and low pricing for the rental, so we tipped him forty bucks. Bikes are good starter ones to learn the ropes ($1500 new). A bit bumpy on Coyote Trail at times, but got speeds up to 20mph. All-in-all a great first time experience!
