At first, I thought it was a language barrier or just not that friendly but then I heard them be nice to a certain group of people but not me. Wow... yummy, yummy, yummy! It's been a while since stopping here, and I could still remember how good these donuts were. The problem was I forgot it was cash only! I scrambled in my purse for enough change to pay the total amount, but I couldn't find enough (it was like 17 cents). I wanted to check my car, but the guy at the counter allowed me to just take the donuts. THANK YOU! Family owned. I take my granddaughter and her bestie before school on Fridays. It's become a tradition. My favorite is the apple strudel with a large coffee. Coffee is always hot and ready. The girls love the glazed donut holes ($3 dozen) or anything with sprinkles. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The wife is so friendly and nice to us. The whole family is great! The atmosphere is so unwelcoming. I get zero greeting when walking in. Doesn't ask what I want. They aren't very friendly every time I've been in. The croissant was flaky on top but and soft on the inside. Tasty. The ham and jalapeños were just right. Next time when I'm in the area I'm try a donut. I've been coming to this donut shop for some time now and every single time I stop in, I make sure to pick up a dozen. All I gotta say is that there just isn't any donut shop quite like this near my home. Plus their dozen donuts is cheaper than most places. First off, I've never had any bad experiences with any of the workers here as a few of the reviewers have expressed. Secondly, I love how their donuts taste compared to others that I have tried that either leave a bad after taste in your mouth or are days old. Lastly, Steph's donuts are always fresh and if I'm in the area, I make it a goal to stop by. Some of my favorites here are their pumpkin, blueberry, crumb, cinnamon, jelly filled, apple fritter and twist donuts. However, these are typically my go-to whenever I visit this shop. Every visit, their jelly donuts are different from lemon, to blueberry, agave, etc. The last visit, the worker gave an extra donut after I purchased a dozen in addition to one of their larger cinnamon twist donuts. Whenever I bring Steph's donuts home to my family, they love it and no longer care for the other donuts they used to buy! Now they only care to get Steph's Donut Hole donuts! The East may run on Dunkin, but I'll take these first generation immigrant donut shops with their unique blend every time. He's also been in Alpine for more than 30 years and has been slowly collecting old pictures of the town. They line the wall. It's the best collection of old Alpine pictures outside of the historical society. Some are more than 150 years old. And some of the antiques in his shop are older than that. Again, interesting guy.
