After the service was completed, I observed debris remaining in multiple sections of the gutter system and took photographs documenting my concerns. Based on what I observed, I did not believe the entire gutter system had been fully cleaned as described in the scope of work. I contacted the company on the day of the service and requested a follow-up visit. Although a return visit was discussed, it ultimately never took place, and my concerns regarding the completeness of the cleaning were never fully addressed. Because of this, I did not feel the work fully matched my expectations for a complete gutter cleaning. To be fair, ASF did perform significant work, including gutter repairs and cleaning in other areas, and the company ultimately worked with me to reach a mutually agreed resolution of the matter. Future customers may wish to inspect the gutters carefully after service and document any concerns promptly.

While Excelsior was the highest priced option, but the difference in cost was relatively justified by the level of service, professionalism, and workmanship they provided. From the initial consultation to the completion of the installation, the process was smooth and well organized. Communication was excellent, the crew arrived on time, and the work was completed efficiently. Throughout the project, I felt that the team genuinely cared about doing the job right rather than simply finishing as quickly as possible. A special thanks to Eduardo, who was knowledgeable, responsive, and easy to work with. He took the time to answer my questions and made sure everything was completed to my satisfaction. The finished roof looks great, and the attention to detail was evident throughout the project. Major home improvement projects can be stressful, but The Excelsior Roofing Company made the experience straightforward and worry-free. Because the roof was only recently completed, I'd like to wait until after the first significant rain before giving a final assessment of its performance. However, based on the installation process and overall experience so far, I would not hesitate to recommend The Excelsior Roofing Company to anyone looking for a professional and reliable roofing contractor.

We decided to go with Brian based on the prior Yelp reviews and also from our interaction with him. Brian was very transparent and honest. He provided a detailed bid and photos of conditions. Our roof was 25+ years old and skylights were all rusted. Brian's team came in and knocked a new roof and skylights in 3 days. I will definitely be referring Brian to neighbors/fam and friends.

I had a few quotes from different companies and they were just wanting to rip up the roofing on the light well and redo the whole roof. Brian came along and just said he could fix it with a corrugated panel on top and fixing the scupper like it was supposed to be fixed. The previous roofers did a lousy job and when my roof got clogged and flooded, it was just the side near the window that was leaking and caused all the water damage in the bathroom and in the garage. Brian said he could just fix it without having to redo the roof and my impression of him was that he was down to earth honest. He fixed the problem and without a lot of cost involved. His straightforwardness basically saved me a lot of money. These are the types of people I like to work with. Honest contractors are hard to find. If you have any roofing issues, I highly recommend you hire this company to take a look. Brian will give you an honest assessment and not try to get more money off of you than is necessary. That's worth its weight in gold.

The company is owned by two brothers, Alex and Faliciano, and from start to finish, they were professional, honest, and a pleasure to work with. Out of the five roofing companies we got quotes from, Amcal gave us the best price--and it wasn't just competitive, it was fair and transparent. There was no haggling, no hidden fees, and absolutely no nickel-and-diming, which was refreshing in this kind of project. As I learned more about different roofing materials and nuances, they were very patient with me and accommodated every request and provided great advice. They were prompt, showed up exactly when they said they would, and completed the entire job in just three days--including cleanup! Everything was handled efficiently, and they even took care of all the city permits, so we didn't have to worry about a thing. I am really glad I decided to hire Alex and Feliciano to do my roof. By far the worst contractor I have ever worked with…read more Our experience with Redwood Roofing was incredibly disappointing. The recurring problem was simple: they repeatedly did not do what was in our contract or what we explicitly agreed to, and I had to constantly supervise the work to catch mistakes and omissions. Before construction, I specifically required CertainTeed DiamondDeck and peel-and-stick waterproofing at critical areas including valleys, chimneys and roof penetrations. Redwood agreed and put it in the contract. Yet I repeatedly found these details missing or installed incorrectly. Around the chimney, the waterproofing wasn't installed as agreed and had to be redone. I literally had to send them CertainTeed's own installation instructions. The chimney cricket was even worse. I requested it in writing before the project started. Redwood later argued that it wasn't necessary, so I contacted the inspector myself. The inspector confirmed that a cricket was required and that the roof would fail inspection without it. Redwood still argued with me until I sent them a video of the inspector explicitly saying it had to be installed. They finally installed it, and even then it was visibly off-center. Another night, our roof had been left with large openings completely exposed while thunderstorms were forecast. We had already asked that the roof be covered, both because of weather and because the openings provided direct access for moisture and pests. I came home and discovered it was still completely open. Redwood initially didn't want to return because they didn't think it would rain, despite roughly a 40% chance of thunderstorms. I wasn't willing to gamble my house on their weather prediction and had to insist that they come back. They finally arrived around 9 PM to cover the roof with plastic. Other roofers I subsequently spoke with told me those openings shouldn't have been left exposed in the first place. Perhaps the most unbelievable incident happened after multiple walkthroughs and written instructions. I identified old roof decking that needed replacement and explicitly told Redwood not to cover it until it was replaced and I received a photo. They acknowledged the request and then covered it anyway. Redwood later admitted in writing, "We weren't supposed to cover it up before we get your approval" and "I take responsibility." Finished roofing then had to be torn back open yet again. There were numerous other problems, including a ridge vent specified in the contract that wasn't installed until I caught it, poor paint work, and completed work repeatedly having to be opened up and redone. To Redwood's credit, they generally fixed problems after I discovered them. But that's an incredibly low bar for a professional roofing company. A homeowner should not have to constantly inspect the job, research manufacturer requirements, involve the city inspector, document every agreement in writing, and repeatedly remind a roofing contractor to do work it already agreed to do. I've worked with many contractors over the years, and Redwood Roofing is by far the worst contractor experience I've ever had. I completely lost confidence in their workmanship, attention to detail and quality control. I would absolutely not hire them again.
