Pro tip: It's not directly on Walton Way; it's on the side of the building. Wilson, one of the owners, kindly guided me to the entrance when my GPS said I had arrived, but I still couldn't see the restaurant. Please note that there is indoor and outdoor dining along with free parking. Fogonero is best known for its empanadas, arepas, and other traditional Venezuelan specialties. While all of those sounded tempting, I was craving one food specifically...plantains. I have a real weakness for sweet fried plantains, and lately they have become my ultimate "go-to" comfort food. Fogonero's plantains hit the spot. They were perfectly sweet, moist, and enjoyable to eat. The restaurant is a whole vibe. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a striking mural of the Venezuelan flag painted in vibrant colors across the wall. It's eye-catching, inviting, and instantly sets the tone for the experience. Alfred welcomed me with a warm smile and immediately recognized that I was there to pick up an order. He had everything packed and ready to go, making the process quick and seamless. His friendly, personable demeanor made a great first impression. I'm looking forward to returning and exploring more of the menu once my mouth is back in eating condition.

Husband enjoyed his plate and finished it within a few minutes. It came with 2 different types of sauces: a white cilantro flavored one and a red mild sauce that was a bit spicy for him. The pesto mushroom risotto was good, but a little salty for my liking. If you want to add protein, it's ~$6 for beef or shrimp and ~$4 for chicken. Overall, it was good! We'll most likely be back. I want to try their empanadas next time!

Majority of seating is out doors, plenty of shade, fans and misters there were also heaters sitting around when cool weather strikes. Our waitress was kind and knowledgeable about the offerings , she was sure to check in with us through our time here. The arroz mariscos was my favorite dish, topped with the spicy sauce they served separately, I did noticed there was 6 muscle shells but 3 of them were empty. we also had the following: causa limena - it was good I really liked the civiche on top, the chicken salad wasn't too amazing and the potato was intresting, the juice at the bottom was delish! arroz chaufa - this was a fried rice dish , it did have a little cinnamon in it so beware if you don't like cinnamon/ lomo à la hauncaina- I tried the noodles which were a great texture- they sauce it was served in was okay- wasn't crazy about it and I didn't try the meat but heard it was amazing! tacu tacu - pan fried potatoe pattie toooed w onions and cilantro, loved this dipped in the spicy sauce we had on the side! papa andinas -not a favorite, tastes plain with lots of flavorless seasoning dusted on them- they were okay once dipped in the sauces served on the side but the potatoes them self needed salt and maybe another seasoning to make them pop sarza criolla - just a mix a red onions, cilantro and seasonings- a few dishes were already topped with this mixture. 10/10 recommend checking them out !

The outdoor tables are covered with blue umbrellas to protect you from the pesky sun. So I walk into Lima with a food blank slate. I was not super hungry, but I wanted something to quench my hunger. I ordered the Aguadito soup (chicken soup with rice and cilantro) and plantains along with a Alfajores cookie (made with dulce de leche). The soup came with chicken on the bone along with fluffy rice, peas and carrots. OMG...this soup was amazing!!! It tasted like something your grandmother would prepare. I am a picky when it comes to plantain (no green, hard plantain for me). The menu stated, "golden, caramelized sweet plantain, fried to perfection). Lima had me caramelized. My ideal plantain is sweet with a crispy edges. Lima's plantains are my new favorite! Don't tell anyone, but I ate them with my hands...like a little kid. The cookie was also baked to perfection...really enjoyed my cookie. When I walked in, I was immediately escorted to a table by a friendly hostess and server. She was quiet-spoken and super nice. This was an excellent dining experience...will definitely be back...sooner than later!

Our server was great! She was nice, checked on us and refilled our waters frequently. Entrees: - Pabellion Criollo: meat was a little too salty for my friend's taste but she said the rice balances it out really well. They accommodated her request for scrambled instead of fried eggs. - Asado Negro: Sooo good. It was like, beef and gravy, but better. They allowed me to sub the beans for extra rice - Surf and turf sandwich: Hubby said it was okay but adding more of the green sauce helped a bit - Filet mignon (can't remember the exact name): our other friend liked his staff as well! They also accommodated his request to have the egg on the side. I guess it could be a hole in the wall place since it's in an unassuming small business strip but the music was good and everyone loved the food! Be warned: there is only 1 bathroom so plan your potty break accordingly...

Definitely get the biscuits for the table! Everyone really enjoyed their food. The service was good except for the hostess. The hostess was impatient and curt and didn't have 10 seconds to wait for me to scan the QR code for the parking validation. When I told her I needed to scan, she didn't care and said she was going to the table anyway. She just threw the menus on the table and then left. We didnt' want to sit in the sun but she had already left so we had to ask around to get another table. Sorry to bother her at work, I guess. A host/ess is a restaurant's first impression and it was off to a bad one. Our actual server was nice though and the food was good so I'll still give the restaurant 5 stars.
