After a good sauce is created, a good teriyaki chicken dish will be pan-fried. For a good cook on the chicken, the chicken should be the skin-side down so the crisp and char adds flavor. BUT this chicken lacked the crisp of that a true teriyaki chicken should have. 3/5 Eggs Roles Yikes, these lacked the layers of flavors one comes to expect from such an appetizer. I gotta say I was a tad disappointed in the quantity of meat in the Adult plate, but the Kids plate seemed to have just as much meat as the adult plate but 1/2 the rice. I was expecting Japanese curry but this was a green curry. The katsu was crunchy even with the curry on it. It was good and I would order it again. My next trip was to get the teriyaki. It was a last minute decision so I ordered inside then waited. All employees were wearing a mask. They don't touch your credit card but have you insert into their machine. It took about 15 minutes because they cook it fresh. This time I got the fried rice, salad and chicken. Oh, and more crab rangoons. Once home, I dug in. Teriyaki Chicken - delicious and healthier than my normal take out Teriyaki Shrimp- OMG these were awesome and again pretty healthy entree Raggons- deliciousness Pork eggs rolls - really excited about these egg rolls. UPDATE: We gave this place a second try and I'm so glad we did! The Spicy Chicken Teriyaki is DELICIOUS. We love to eat spicy and I will say the spicy level is 4.5/5. Loved the flavor of that sauce! It almost looked like it was powdered in something. flavor was ok, wouldn't get it again. My husband really liked the Chicken Yakisoba, I didn't get a chance to snap a picture. The fried rice was good and they gave a good portion as a side. 3/5 because I think we may have just ordered the wrong things. I was born in Seattle, and have plenty of family there, and I always hit up the ubiquitous teriyaki restaurants in the area. This is the closest thing in the Austin metro area that measures up to that teriyaki. 5/5 for the chicken teriyaki. Great char on the chicken, perfect rice, and a not-too-sweet teriyaki. The best teriyaki I have had since moving to Austin 8 years ago. My wife and I have eaten here twice now and I have eaten here once alone and and it has been consistently the same each time. Not only has the teriyaki plates been delicious, but their spring roll is the best I have had hands down. If there is one negative thing it's dining in in these temperatures the dining room is to warm and is not below 78 degrees. They do have a great number of take out! I will continue to give them my patronage even though they are in Cedar Park and I have to travel from Round Rock. Give this place a try! read more

I decided to revisit Tom's at the request of mgmt and unfortunately it took me longer than expected to return because I was out of town. I called up and ordered the lunch combo which included Teriyaki chicken over brown rice, and egg roll and small drink. The food on this visit definitely met my expectations and I thought the lunch special was a good value - although I would upgrade the drink in the future. The tea had a robust flavor but the small cup made me feel like a kid. However, there are not many placed anymore that gives you a full lunch for under $10 - so I understand their sizing. The chicken was tender but still had some grill marks on it and the sauce was pretty good for a fast-food type restaurant. I have been to spots in the past where the sauce was too sweet and I think Tom's hits a nice balance. My 4 stars is measuring against expectations for this type of place - I wouldn't put it up against a Teriyaki spot in Tokyo - but that wouldn't be an apples to apples comparison anyways. Lastly, I also purchased a black/white cookie which was very tasty - but I don't know that I would order it again at $4. But based on the taste and freshness, I suspect that they source this from a local bakery - it was good. Every time I go to the cedar park location the staff is amazing and friendly, the food is excellent and the price is right. The last time I took my family for a quick dinner, we watched the cook eating with his fingers, and then preparing our meals. I addressed this with the young man "Nick" at the register and he IMMEDIATELY told me that he was so sorry and would replace the meals right away. He went and spoke to the cook, who suddenly became a 2 year old throwing a hissy fit. (Walked off and left Nick alone) Nick proceeded to remake our meals and continued to apologize.
