This is several years late but nonetheless here we go. I got estimates from about 3-5 different installers. They were all around the same price and rated / reviewed well. Basically all were great options. I went with Makuch because when Makuch came around, he went further than just looking at the garage and presenting me a quote for what I wanted. Makuch came in, looked around, said I didn't really need a new door, the old one is in good shape. I mentioned the broken spring, he mentioned that would be inexpensive to repair and it'd work just fine. He examined my old door which was made of wood, mentioned there's no rot, it's solid, definitely could use a new coat of paint but it was solid. That in and of itself made me think he's looking at the situation with his knowledge and experience and working with me. There's a back and forth, a discussion, etc. This opened the door to further inquiry. All of the other companies mentioned that I needed a double-track but I still had no idea why. I mentioned that to him and he completely explained why I would need that with the garage door I wanted, why I didn't need a double track with my old wooden doors, drew out a diagram explaining what it is/was and what happens. It was like a This Old House episode at my house. That was when I decided I'm going with Makuch regardless of what I do. I had my own garage door opener and we put that in the quote, the price was right and the job was done well and professionally. I normally like to always have refreshments on hand and pride myself on being able to make the installers job easier, everyone, Makuch and his installers already had their coffee and were ready to hit the ground running. During installation the installers also mentioned to me that my garage door opener brackets were thicker and better, so they can leave it as is or put in the new stuff. I asked if they recycled or sold it to a scrapyard, they said yes. I said go ahead and swap it out then, garage door opener manufacturer gave me brackets they feel will suffice, better to recycle/reuse/reduce etc. Anyway Makuch showed up at the start of the job and at the end of the job. All was well. Highly recommended. Now this one is recent - my neighbors were having an issue with their garage door / opener. I fixed it for them but told them, sooner or later it may stop working and you'll probably want to get a professional to come take a look. Anyway, since I fiddle with stuff all the time, my neighbor pretty much wants me to sign off on stuff but I'm no pro. Anyway he tells me that he's got a garage door company coming over to look at his garage and after my experience with Makuch felt bad that I wasn't able to recommend Makuch to him. However, Makuch was the company he chose, he looks at me and asks what I think and I gave him a solid thumbs up and said you're in good hands. Don't ever call this company! They required a 50% deposit ($275 check) for a garage door part to repair our door. They never got the part, answered phone calls or emails. Complaints were filed with the BBB and the Attorney General's office. No response. It has been 9 months dealing with this mess! read more

Had prior concrete work done which affected door closure. Called to have door adjusted however nothing more could be done through no fault of Makuch. They assured me that despite the door closing tighter than it had, it would not affect the door or opener. Asked about replacing the rubber threshold along the bottom & they were honest about the fact that theirs was thinner than what was already there & chipmunks/mice would likely chew threw the new one just like they had the old. Wound up not getting any work done which saved me money; however. I was surprised when I was told there was a $40 service call charge, which I was not informed about when I scheduled service. It wouldn't have been so bad had I known about it up front. I believe they do good work but wish they would have told me about the charge on the phone when I first called. read more

Bob Makuch will not return my deposit plus said a charge of $700 for a custom part. Just had a second estimate and there is no custom part. What I needed could be bought at Home Depot. I phoned on a Thursday at 10am and given an appt for the following day between 8-10am. Person was unprofessional, had me text the appt time and address to them. I never got a confirmation, when they didn't show by 9am, I texted to confirm, no response. No show by 10am, I called and promised they would arrive. No show by 1pm, called as I need the vehicle out of the garage for work tomorrow and was told now they could come tomorrow between 8-10. They woman who answered on my last call was surprised I had an appt,. No organization here. No professionalism. Called another company, they confirmed the address and an appt in 2 hours. read more

Had these guys come out to repair my door. They came out when they said and fixed the problem in less than 15 minutes for 85.00. They sprayed WD 40 on the rails and left a puddle of it on both sides of the floor the door all over the wall and everything else. Then without asking stuck large orange advertisement stickers on my wall and fairly brand new door. While the door is fixed I did not appreciate the after math and mess. For 85.00 and 15 min they could have waited 5 min to wiped up the puddles of lubricant and could have asked if I wanted the stickers on my new door and wall. read more

Even though the owner wasn't available to come and start the work himself, he had his workers come and do the work and followed through later. We were without our garage door for over 2 weeks after purchasing A Garage door opener from home depot and purchasing their installation deal with the purchase. The company ( overhead door co. ) came to install the door opener and told me the the one I purchased ( Genie screw drive) would not fit my garage. The Installer was very nice, And very professional when he told me I should get a Jack Shaft door opener. He told me they could do it but I'd have to call and wait for another installation date. I didn't want to wait so I took the opener back to Home depot. I called Bob Makuch while in the Home depot parking lot on a Wednesday. After tellin him my situation and listening to his knowledge and experience of 30 plus years , he also recommended Jack shaft opener. My New Opener was delivered and installed 2 days later at a very reasonable and competitive price. So Glad I talked to him and Makuch will always be my New Garage door company for any of my needs. Very disappointing. I used Makuch several years ago to replace my garage door opener and was happy with their service. I contacted them recently to replace my garage door. They were to come out in the afternoon after 1. I waited all afternoon and nobody showed up. I called the next day and spoke to the owner who said his man had been out in the morning (no note / message to that effect, so I stayed home all afternoon waiting) He said that he would call me back that evening when he got home. I never heard back from him. Since it was the Friday before Christmas, I cut him some slack and called again the Thursday after Christmas. No answer and I never got a call back. WOW. No problem, since there are many other companies that actually WANT your business. I called one of them. They came out same day and installed next day. If your time is valuable, I wouldn't use this company!! read more

Makuch installed my garage door about 10 years ago, and I was very happy with their work and their price. I'm writing this review for a recent repair visit. My door has had some wear and tear over the years, and eventually broke so that I could no longer open it. I called and left a message on a Saturday morning and they called me back within 30 minutes, and then had someone here to make the repairs within a couple of hours after that. The man they sent fixed the door and made some other small repairs I hadn't even asked about. Excellent service and a good price! read more

Took a weary recommendation from my mom, and choose Makuch for our garage door replacement (I was warned the install could take awhile). The quote was really reasonable and the business local -- so we thought we were set. Scheduled an install (over the phone) for Friday, June 24 between 9 - 11. Nobody ever showed up for the install. Emails and phone calls have since gone unanswered. The only plus, it was a basic install and no deposit was required. Really disappointed, and can't imagine how Makuch will stay in business. read more

I just had Bob come out to replace a broken torsion spring. It is Sunday. He reviewed my door, track, rollers, opener with me before starting. He then replaced the springs, lubricated the track and rollers and straightened a few bent areas on the track. After he was finished, he showed the work to me and went over some lubrication and maintenance tips. I am very pleased with his work, especially on a Sunday. Unfortunately I do not have an opportunity to rate their level of repair work because the tech was not able to make it out to the home in the time frame provided. They provided a two hour window. When that two hour window passed, we called to see where the tech was and were told that he was stuck in traffic but should be at the home in about 15 minutes. Forty five minutes later, we called and cancelled our appointment. If we were provided an update earlier regarding the status of the tech we could have attempted to adjust our schedules. When you are given a window of time, it is expected that the service provider shows up somewhere reasonably in that window. read more

Poor Service Very Poor Service. I purchased a house in March of 2017 and hired Makuch through a General Contractor to install 3 garage doors, new motors and a new tracks. I met with Bob the owner of Makuch who looked at my garage and informed me that they would be out and replacing them as soon as they come in. When the doors came in I was called and an appointment was set up to have them installed. The General Manager from the General Contractor contacted me and sent me pictures with the garage motors and asked if those were the motors that I wanted (overhead motors). I left work and came to the house and spoke to Makuch employees letting them know that the motors I wanted were the side mount and not overhead. They called someone and then left. The GC called the company several times and an argument started about confusion of the motors. In order to resolve the issue I was told that I would have to pay more. Which is what I did. A month went by and no one came to install the motors. My GC could not get a hold of Makuch to find out the status. I called and the only reason they answered is because I called from a different phone number. I was then given a date. On the date scheduled the Makuch employees showed up and installed the new motors. I asked the workers why they didn't replace the track so the doors are all the way up to the ceiling and I was told that they didn't bring the tracks and they would order them and come back. 2 months past I called Makuch and told them that I still had an entire overhead motor with rail and chain in my garage. They sent workers to pick up the motor I again asked them what was going on with the tracks, they informed me that their boss would get back to me. We ended up moving into the house in March 2018. I called Makuch July 2018 (four months later) and spoke to a girl on the phone. I stated my problem and explained the issue and how I felt about no one getting back to me about the issue. She apologized and told me that they would send someone out next week on Tuesday between 1pm and 3pm. I called on Tuesday July 17, 2018 at 11am and spoke to the same female and she told me we have you down today between 1pm and 3pm. I said great. 3 pm came and no one showed up. At 3:20pm I was contacted by Bob the owner. Who informed me that I would need to pay extra if I wanted that system and that I never communicated that information over to him. I was very upset. So I called my GC and asked him what was going on. My GC said I can't get a hold of him he doesn't answer for me and I will get someone else to fix the problem. I asked why he would get someone else lets have the person who was paid for it do it. He said he would call. My GC called me 5 minutes later and said he is not answering me. I called Bob the Makuch owner and he answered my call. I informed him the GC was calling and he said he didn't want to talk to him. So we had conference call with my GC, Makuch and I. The conversation started out that he started blaming the GC over and over again. I asked a very simple question... I spoke to your employees 3 times and they all said that it would be fixed. Why didn't they tell me I have to talk to the boss or we will see or anything? He said my employees promised you something not me. He also said that they don't know the job and they don't speak English. I said if your employees promises me something that is an extension of you. He said I can't be liable for what my employees say or do. The conversation ended with him rambling and getting upset with the GC. Bob called me back and I told him I would write a review about my experience and told him I have to go at least 3 times. I hung up. He called back and told me just like this, " I have very good friend who is a lawyer and if you put up a bad review I will have him sue you." I was shocked. I told him that if he wants I will give him my attorney's number if he wants to go the legal way. I told him this conversation is over. I hung up. He called again. I refused to answer. He kept calling. I asked him what he wanted and he started going off on a tangent about if he was told to bomb Iraq that he couldn't be held responsible if he was ordered to do that. I ended the call by letting him know I was not satisfied with his customer service and politely said thank you and good bye. There other inappropriate things that were said that I didn't mention in this review but all in all I am very disappointed with the poor treatment, the lack of communication, the false promises. OK. They would have been 5 stars, but they were so LATE! 10-12 timeframe, I called at 12:25, they called back - guy's on his way. Guy arrived at 1:25. Once he got here, all went smoothly. What a nightmare. They came out to fix a garage door and then the nightmare begins. They were supposed to drop off my key and garage opener and after 3 weeks of stalking them they "lost them". My tenant called to say his tool box was stolen too. But they took no responsibility. Then they agreed to re program the remotes and replace the remote they lost. And then tried to charge me. And I had to change the locks as clearly the security was now compromised. Bob Makuch is so scattered. Never returned calls. Just a mess. And never paid for the replaced locks to be changed as promised. Too many other good garage companies out there to chase this guy. I spent hours tracking him down.
