I just stumbled into Malaya Botanicals for the first time while walking around Alameda, and what a pleasant surprise! This cute little shop has such a warm, island-inspired vibe--it instantly reminded me of the Philippines, especially with all the rattan furniture and tropical touches throughout the space. Omg, this place has been on my radar for years! I was thrilled to finally be able to visit their store front. The owner, Pia, was such a delight! And she was very supportive of our Filipino brethren who are out here trying to make a name for themselves! We love to see it. They had a free mimosa tasting, which was basically two shot glasses of a sangria and an alcohol-free, cbd-infused drink. They were honestly super yummy! After over a year of having last seen them at their Webster street location, I wanted to check their new location by the shipyards. I almost squealed in delight by their beautiful use of space. Before I walked in, I was already pulling out my phone to take photos. I was in search of lip balm because I always need to have it on. After careful consideration, I chose the sampaguita scent because it's not something I smell often. I should have bought the peppermint one as well because I really love how the lip balm feels on my lips. I'm really sensitive to certain things and this one is heavenly. Without hesitation, I also purchased the aromatherapy inhaler because that's my jam (sniffing menthol). As I browsed, I was in awe of everything displayed because now they sell clothing and they even have a mini sari-sari section. It's like a sundries or variety mini-store in the Philippines, where it's like a small kiosk tucked away on a random street. They sold out of seamoss, which I would have purchased in a millisecond but I ended up buying the chaga mushroom elixir. I've been doing it twice daily as directed, and so far, I like it. I'm actually recovering from covid and while I was sick, over the counter medicines stopped working and the body aches were the worst. Unable to get refund for completely unused product for over ten days. Horrible customer service. 8 months pregnant and a friend recommended a specific product for pain. I asked the sales person in case this is not the right one can I return if unopened and she said yes, no problem. My friend called me 30 min later and told me it wasn't the right ingredients so went back to the store to return but there was a sign that the salesperson went out on a break for 10 minutes. After 30 minutes of waiting she didn't come back and I had to leave. The following weekend I go to the store to get a refund and the sales lady kept on trying to convince me to exchange products when I just wanted a refund. Because I paid by card she claimed she couldn't refund me in store (strange especially since I had the receipt ) so she called the owner who said to email her the receipt. I discovered Malaya Botanicals CBD when a friend reccommended I check them out for their CBD cream and CBD tincture for pain. I had been knocked flat on my back by a huge dog running past me at the park at full speed ("oh so sorry, he was so happy to be out finally" said the owner. "yeah thanks" I thought).. I was able to get up and go home but but 3 days later: whiplash...spasms - neck, shoulders, pain, pain,pain. no sleep, can barely move. I am not a fan of pharmaceuticals, so I went and met Pia the owner, and nabbed 1000mg CBD pain cream and 1000mg CBD tincture, and then called a chiropractor. I used the cream 2x a day and the CBD once a day and 3 days later I found my self able to move, sleep.. and get back on the road. Pia, the owner is super sweet, the shop is small and includes a whole array of lifestyle products geared toward women's wellness.
