Dumped 3 in and so fast absorbed the water and dried all up . Happy chickens again . I also use the shavings with diatomaceous earth for every day use in the hen house . I'm going to update my review to 3 stars since Mallard Creek ended up delivering more bark to my job site. This time, the driver actually came to the door and asked where I wanted the bark placed. He was also very polite. Much better experience! Hopefully they will keep doing that for every customer so mistakes don't happen as per my original review. I'm still not happy with the follow up call I received from the manager (don't remember her name) as it was quite unprofessional and not customer focused at all. However, I do like their bark product and they got the delivery right the second time. So right now I'm neutral on them. Next time I buy bark, I will consider this company but will definitely explore other options as well. read more

Avoid this business at all cost, you might pay a little more elsewhere but it is well worth the headache. Three times I have ordered soil and three times I was quoted one price only to be called the day before informing me that someone made a mistake and they forgot to charge a freight charge. I should have avoided them after the first time but I gave them the benefit of doubt and ordered again for a job. The second time the Truck showed up onsite and told the person accepting delivery that they made a mistake and forgot the freight charge. The third time my wife ordered the soil from them without me knowing and the day before delivery the account manager calls and says there's been another error that there is a freight charge that was forgotten. After telling her that this is classic case of bait-and-switch she didn't seem to care and essentially that if I did not want to pay for the freight then I could go somewhere else. Customer service is lost on this company a good company would admitt they made a mistake and eat the freight for this order then retrain the person who had made the mistake. This Account manager treated me as if I'm the one who made mistakes and that it was is my problem, like it os no big deal getting quoted one price but billed another. So go here if you want to but be aware of the bait and switch tactics they use and poor customer service. read more

The company was quick to respond to online inquiry for quote. Easy to order by phone. Was able to deliver within a couple days of purchase. However, the product we recieved did not meet our expectations based on online image and description. We ordered small fir bark, which was highly variable in size and quality. It was also riddled with debris such as rock, other plant material, paper and sharp pieces of plastic. Poor quality. Spoke with AJ by phone who said their manufacturer's quality had declined. Their website states it is manufactured on site, but he stated otherwise. Another representative said their material can vary. Highly recommend going to see product before ordering to know what you may actually receive. We will choose a better quality supplier for the remainder of our property. read more

Mallard Creek's Muckbuster made all the difference for my horses' paddocks. The mud was too deep to safely let them use them. Hours before a big storm was scheduled to come in I spread it out, about 5" deep. It's held up great with two wet and wild weather weekends. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. This is a great company to work with.... I ordered Gorilla Hair/Shredded Redwood at the end of September. The customer service was great and the pricing was reasonable. I should have called earlier to obtain the bark, but even though I was tardy in scheduling the delivery, the company fit my request into their busy week. Furthermore, upon discovering that I needed a second delivery (because I did not order enough in the first load), they kindly squeezed in a delivery on a busy Friday. Great service!! The lady that answers the phone and takes the order is very nice, helpful and informative. Plus the gentleman that delivers the bark is friendly and helpful as well. The company employees have a great attitude which many other companies lack. I will definitely use this company again for my future bark needs. read more

The office staff were helpful, they set me up with everything I needed, took my payment and arranged my delivery. It was delivered on time and was some of the best I've personally seen. I ordered the Veggie mix product to fill my new raised beds. The delivery was on time and was placed where we asked it to be placed; however, we were totally unhappy with the product itself. I specifically asked when I ordered the product if i would be able to plant directly into it. The soil had many huge (grapefruit-sized and larger) clumps of hard clay-like soil that was difficult to break up with my hands. They had to be broken up with a shovel. I had hired people to load the dirt into my raised beds the day after it was delivered, and since it was the weekend and Mallard Creek was closed, I had no choice but to let the men fill the beds. I asked them to please try to break up the clumps before putting them into the beds, but when I went to plant my vegetables, I still found many orange- sized and smaller hard clumps that I had to pull out and break up before planting. We also found a rubber glove, large clumps of uncomposted sod, and other uncomposted yard waste in the soil. We are very unhappy and disappointed with our purchase. I would definitely not recommend this company to anyone. I'm telling my friends who just put there raised beds in to look elsewhere for their soil!! read more

We ordered 5 yards of midnight black bark. We were told the soonest delivery would be 5 days away. We could work with that, and were told to expect an 8:00 a.m. delivery time. We paid over the phone via credit card as required but were surprised when auditing our bank account to see that a few days after our initial order, a SECOND charge to our account was done! We called them to ask why and were told they needed to research it. They later called us back and blamed the second charge on the "new girl" in the office who "did something wrong", and they would credit our account for the second charge. Then, they changed our delivery time to 2:00 p.m., so we had to adjust our schedule to make that work. When the delivery driver arrived at 2:00 (who was very nice) - we were surprised to see we had "mini" midnight black mulch, which is not what we wanted or ordered - it was too small. My husband spoke to the office, and was told that he had to come into the office/yard to look at the bark before another truck was sent out. Mind you - the delivery driver saw what we wanted (he compared to what we already had), and said - you don't want "mini", you want the regular....which again - is what we ordered! My husband agreed to go into the yard and look at the bark to make sure, but now we're told they can't deliver until Friday or Saturday - another 4 days away! That is not acceptable since we need it prior to an event we are having this Saturday, and my husband already took two days off work to get it all spread out and our yard done prior to Friday. Needless to say - we cancelled the entire order and are very dissatisfied with this company and won't use them or recommend! read more
