Be sure to ask questions. Called to order wood. They let me know they'd call the day before delivery and it would be about two weeks. Never received a call, they showed up with the wood AND then told me there was $175 delivery fee because I was out of their area. Certainly didnt tell me that before they were in my driveway or when I got the verbal quote two weeks earlier. Ridiculous... won't purchase from them again. read more

Small Business Saturday was so much fun at Valley Rock today. Not only did they have the most beautiful and perfect Christmas trees but they had a wonderful Christmas Boutique with lots of unique and talented vendors. I was able to shop for a hard to shop for relative. They even highlighted a local coffee truck (Rise), with the best peppermint mocha. Kelly and Natalie from Valley Rock were the best. I started to redo my backyard and took on the project of constructing a 120ft by 4 ft retaining wall. They were able to walk me through what I needed, gave me great recommendations, and were with me through the whole process. I got weekly calls as updates to my orders, delivery times, and replacement blocks for ones that were broken on delivery. Hole. E. Smokes. Their prices are high... I am new the the area and was looking for a place to buy some black bark to spruce up my landscaping. Have bought bark many times and know that its usually between $15-22.00 per yard. When I rang up for 4 yards of the stuff, it came out to $200.00 bucks. I shrugged it off thinking that for sure there was a key stroke error from the person ringing me up. Nope, they actually charge $48.00 a yard for black bark. Since I was in a hurry, and slightly shell shocked from the price, I did it and was on my way. The next week when I was headed to the dumps in Lincoln, I stopped in the place right next door (also a small family owned business) and it was $17.00 a yard as it should be. I realize it costs more to buy local and small but 3x is a bit much guys... read more

I wrote a review in the past which seems to have disappeared. I want my warning to stay. I bought firewood from them and was shorted. I gave an opportunity to the owner to make it right. I offered to load my own truck with the shorted amount. He became very angry and treated me like I was low life. I drove away. I had the Board of Equalization come out and measure the stack. It was 15% short. I am the past president of the Arden Arcade Rotary Club. High ethical standards in business is one of the objects of Rotary. read more

I know I shouldn't have gone to a "rock" place for firewood, but many people in the area told me that Valley Rock is a great place to go. After a quick chat inside, I went and got my firewood loaded. However, when I used the wood in my fireplace, I was dismayed to find that the wood was not seasoned. Thus, I now have a bunch of wood that I can't use at least until next year. read more

Stopped by to....yes, look at dirt!! I wanted to roll around it to get a feel but that was off limits. Anyway I love gardening and especially rich soil, because the secret to growing an incredible garden, is the soil. I found a fantastic organic soil that I will be mixing with some of their hummus and manure. I'm extremely excited to get a truck load. We were looking for some rock and bark to finish off our back yard. Started off at another place, and they had very little rock to choose from and we didn't really get a good feel from the customer service person when we walked in. Decided to drive to Valley Rock and are sure glad we did. We worked with James and he was extremely helpful and made sure we knew where everything was. We decided that we also wanted to get some moss rock, but weren't sure how we'd get it home. We just figured we went a u-haul utility trailer and load it in that. When I mentioned my idea to James he said they'd just load our moss rocks with the landscape rock and bark and deliver it all at once. When a business treats customers this good it's no mystery why they are still in business--they totally understand awesome customer service! Thank you Valley Rock! read more

Do not believe their Mission Statement not website advertising, even though they advertise expertise, service and outstanding customer service, nothing could be further from the truth. As a repeat customer I called them to put a large amount of ground covering where my horses and mini donkeys lived, they recommended top soil! As a new property owner with animals at home, I depended on their expertise to help me add a layer for safety and comfort to the animals. Price was not an object, but safety and practicality. My pasture is slanted.This was done during the summer and even their truck driver didn't comment when he delivered it at our house. After the first rain three months later, my animals are slipping and sliding down the hill and coming out of the barn. My baby horse fell on its knees. When I asked them to see if they could help me fix it, I got the run around and the owner never spoke to me. An employee was extremely rude and told me that since I signed the receipt, they we're in the clear and only offered me a discount on further materials. She refused to give me the owner's names, even though it is on their website. There is no pride in helping the homeowners and definitely no customer service. Their poor recommendation and lack of customer service is blatant. I will never shop there again nor recommend this place to anyone who wants to do a project with materials. their lack of professionalism will have to end in a courtroom and they told me they were looking forward to that! Ok, I wrote a review 3 years ago it took me a while to return. They have the advantage of location, less than 2 miles from my house. So I made a straight forward purchase of 20 yards of road base for the next morning. They did exactly as they said.
