We had a palm tree (from Moon Nurseries) planted in our front yard in April. I noticed some changes in the leaves and contacted Moon Nurseries to see if they could help me solve my problem. I spoke with Scott Anderson and instead of having a discussion via phone.....he thought it would be better to take a look at the palm tree. He was here in 20 minutes. Whaaaaaat? Nobody does that anymore. That's what I call CUSTOMER SERVICE ! He was professional, courteous and extremely knowledgeable. I had to go back for just one more look at all the amazing plants and trees. They had a sale and promotion for free moon juice. Nick helped us and made us feel welcomed...he held our items for us while we browsed all the item... he wasn't pushy but made sure he was available when we were ready with questions. We came to Moon Valley Nursery to check it out because we wanted to try somewhere different than Green Acres. I really liked the look of the place as soon as we drove in it's really nice and inviting! We walked around the outdoor nursery and they had some pretty good deals. The inside was nice too very open and spacious, with some really cool metal art pieces. I also liked their selection of indoor plants. It definitely seems like they cater more toward bigger landscaping projects, so if you're just looking to pick up a couple of plants, it's okay. But if I were ever doing a full backyard redo or a bigger landscaping project, I would definitely come back here! read more

**2 Stars -- Very Disappointed With the Lack of Communication and Scheduling** I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Moon Valley Nurseries, particularly their communication regarding a scheduled installation. I was specifically told that the crew would arrive between 7:30 and 9:00 a.m. and that I would receive approximately 30 minutes' notice before their arrival. I arranged my morning around that commitment. By 9:00 a.m., I had received no call, no text, and no update whatsoever. This was particularly difficult for me because I was away from my house caring for my elderly mother, who was not doing well following cancer treatment. I was trying to remain with her for as long as possible while coordinating my return home around Moon Valley's scheduled arrival. Eventually, I had to start making calls myself to find out what was happening. I spoke with a manager, who informed me that the crew had been delayed at an earlier job because they encountered rocks and therefore would not arrive until sometime that afternoon. I was not given a specific arrival time. I understand that unexpected problems occur on landscaping jobs. That is not my primary complaint. My problem is that Moon Valley knew its crew was significantly delayed, yet nobody took the time to contact me. A simple phone call or text saying, "We are running several hours late" would have allowed me to rearrange my schedule and the care of my mother. Instead, I was left waiting, wondering whether the crew was coming, and ultimately had to track down the information myself. For a company providing a scheduled professional installation service, I consider that level of communication unacceptable. At this point, this experience has made me very hesitant to do additional business with Moon Valley Nurseries. I am giving two stars rather than one because I want to see how the company ultimately handles the installation and whether management makes an effort to correct the situation. Wow -- HUGE place!! They have a huge assorment of LARGE trees and plants. Loved the giant Dinos out on the hills... plenty of parking.. .there are multiple areas to walk and see the huge selection of trees. we odnt hve room for the large trees in our yard but if we did we would pick a few up here. Staff were super helpful and nice. They shared too that you can get a yard design and they will put it all together for you so that was cool too!! read more

First impressions don't always last, and mine certainly didn't with this nursery. As a customer who paid in good faith for a December 22 delivery, I was shocked by how I was treated. The so-called general manager spoke to me with blatant disrespect and hung up the phone, offering no apology or accountability. I was told conflicting things: that the trees are at the Gilroy branch and available, yet I was told they're not and has to wait another 4-8 weeks as it a "special order". There was no courtesy or effort to resolve the situation; instead, I was met with excuses and poor service. If you're shopping for trees and plants here, please confirm availability and readiness for delivery before you buy. Avoid being misled by promotional phrases like "free planting" because it's not: I requested a full refund and order cancellation, with written confirmation within 24 hours, and I will be sharing updates on my experience as this situation develops. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and makes real improvements in customer communications and accountability. read more

Stopped by for the first time! Wasn't expecting to get anything, but ended up with a pineapple plant, mini succulents, and a pretty copper amethyst! There were a lot of bigger trees compared to another local nursery, which was nice but they're a bit pricey obviously. Staff were very friendly and helped us find an actual tree we were looking for. Unfortunately none in stock but said there will be shipment next month so we'll be back! Love the giant metals Dino's when entering the lot, the kids loved them. read more

For our needs of 1 gallon trees and vegetables this place is of limited to no use, and they are significantly more expensive than their chain store competitor that has a one year return policy. We used Moon Valley Nurseries in Roseville after seeing an ad for their new location. Since we do not know much about landscaping, we were willing to pay a premium for professional design help and quality plant selection. Unfortunately, the experience was frustrating from start to finish. We made it clear from the beginning that we needed all materials by Sunday for our landscapers, but after spending over an hour selecting 9 trees and countless plants, we were told at checkout that delivery would take two months. Some material did arrive sooner, but not all of it. The bigger issue was the design advice itself. The Liriope we received already looked unhealthy, and we later learned it does not do well in the Sacramento Valley heat. We returned it and replaced it with boxwoods. Even more concerning, a Weeping Blue Cedar was recommended to be planted only about two feet from our home. After getting second opinions, we learned that could have caused foundation issues because of the root system. We canceled that tree as well. On top of that, 7 shrubs we ordered never arrived, and we ended up buying replacements from another local nursery. Two months later, we are still waiting on a refund for the canceled tree and the undelivered shrubs. We have gone to the store multiple times, could never reach the manager, and kept getting different answers about store credit and restocking fees. Some of the plants we received are doing well, but overall the communication, design guidance, and follow-through were poor. I would definitely recommend getting a second opinion before trusting their design plan. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Moon Valley Nurseries in Roseville. read more

Full of regret. Wishing I had just gone to Green Acres. The short version: I've spend more than $8k on an order I started February 15th. It's June 4th and I am still calling them on a regular basis to get things fixed and get some of the trees they forgot to bring out on planting day, back in April. The long version: The initial sales rep I worked with, Angelina, who no longer works there, was lovely. She explained all of the benefits Moon Valley provides (planting, watering guide, design consultation) and since delivery dates were a couple months away, she recommended I come back closer to the delivery date and hand select my trees. For anyone purchasing with MV, this is very important. ***Hand Select your trees.*** The only three trees I am having trouble with are the ones I did not choose myself. Two fruit trees simply did not arrive with my order and one of them is the saddest avocado tree. The avocado tree essentially what's causing so much trouble. When it arrived, I told the planting crew that it looked way too small to be the one I purchased. I prepaid for a "Huge" avocado tree and a "huge" strawberry tree. Each cost $1350. Since this yard renovation means a lot to me, I also purchased the warranty on these two trees, at a rate of $350 each. So this avocado tree is what I am calling my $1700 mistake. I've included pictures of both trees with this review for perspective. When on site selecting my trees, I got to choose my strawberry tree. She's beautiful and stands tall above the 5ft retaining wall in my yard. Working with Sean, the GM who is filling in for Angelina who left the company, he let me know they didn't have an avocado tree to show me that day, but it would be a show stopper. This sad little 4 foot tree arrived on planting day, I notified the crew it was too small to possibly be mine, and several calls later, I wish I'd never made the purchase. They aren't returning my calls. On my first call, Sean said he knew why I was calling and knew that the tree sent to me was small before it arrived, "That whole batch of avocado trees was smaller than usual" ... but they still sent it for install at the full price. As a consolation, he said that when my two missing fruit trees arrive, he can throw in a free avocado tree. I gladly accepted thinking this was a kind offer. After the phone call, it still didn't sit right, and every time I see this small tree in my yard it nags at me. I don't need MORE trees, I need the RIGHT tree. I've called a couple of times to correct the issue, but I'm not getting calls back. One of the fellas at the front desk even told me that my warranty should cover this, given warranties allow for one replacement. Honestly, this isn't even a warranty issue, it feels like a bait and switch problem. It looks like they just put a baby avocado tree in a larger pot before delivering it. Also troublesome, but not related to this avocado tree debacle... -When Angelina left, no one told me. She just stopped replying to our email thread about the planting design she was planning to help me with. I had to call the store to find out why it went silent. -To get an appointment at the store to pick out my trees, it took several calls. I speculate that because there was no new purchase tied to this appointment, it was not a priority. They only return my calls when I am going to make a purchase. -During my tree selection, Sean said he would be able to pick up where Angelina left off and help me with the planting design. We scheduled an appointment for him to look at my yard. Day of the appointment he cancelled. Said he'd come on planting day -On planting day, he was a no show. I had ZERO design support. -The watering guide is a one-page infographic that is barely helpful All in all, I overpaid for trees and did not get any of the supplementary offerings I was promised. Bottom line: They will promise you the moon, but they really just want to make a sale. read more
