Eff Baskin Robbins. This is the place for ice cream. Lots of fun flavor combinations and more samples to try. We settled on two flavors. 1) Super chocolate. This was really good. It was a nice intense dark chocolate flavor, but not too sweet. This was a perfect finish to our evening. 2) Cereal milk. This was awesome. Think a nice bowl of fruity pebbles. My wife went out of her comfort zone and selected Key Lime(he also helped her decide). Mine was delicious like sounded weird but was perfect. My wife did not like hers much. I didn't either. We came here in the afternoon and found downtown Bellingham very pleseant. That said, it is only pay parking at meters near here and we were able to secure two spots right out front. They had their garage type doors all the way up so it was like being outside when you were inside where there was tons of seating and a low height sink for kids to wash their hands with. Unfortunately tonight at Mallards the staff were very rude. It was near closing. The doors were still open and customers were in line ordering ice cream. A few of us who had just received our ice cream were seated when one of the staff members came around, telling everybody that "they were closing, Sorry" and asked us all to leave. Had we been told that we were not welcome to sit down for a moment and have our ice cream because they were about to close that might have been reasonable. However as it was, they were still dishing out ice cream and serving people who had come in while asking those of us who just sat down to get up and leave. A customer asked if they could use the restroom which they had just locked, and they refused then they appeared reluctant but gave the key it to them. Poor customer service, wow. read more

I had to try this place while in town because I'm a big fan of unique ice cream flavours, which this place seems to specialize in! I got a half scoop of two of their rotating flavours, Angostura Bitters and Hot Marges (tequila, lime, ghost pepper). Loved both, but the Hot Marges really stood out - the ghost pepper featured prominently which made it a really exciting tasting experience. I also sampled the Whiskey Raisin and Cardamom flavours which were excellent too. The ice cream doesn't just come in fun flavours, it's also really well-made ice cream, smooth and creamy.
