After hearing some buzz about Crooked Spoon, and its entry into the premium ice cream category, I hadn't heard of before. Their brick-and-mortar place in WA seems to be quite popular. I found that some local Sprouts stores were carrying it. I really like it. Like anything, when checking out something for the first time, stay as basic as possible. I tried the Vanilla Bean. All of their flavors display "Full Strength" in front of the flavor name. This is to drive home the point of their concept... no air in the ice cream. Hence, this is very dense ice cream! Of course, they also use excellent ingredients to make this great stuff. I am a fan. It is very concentrated in flavor. It also has a nice mouth feel, very smooth. Loved the Vanilla Bean. Just picked up some Full Strength Raspberry Chip. It's ok, but I prefer the Vanilla Bean. The raspberry is a little on the sweet side.... but still the same silky mouth feel. I am on the lookout for the Vanilla Chocolate Chip, which should be great. Looking forward to more Vanilla Bean and trying some other flavors. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED read more

I love ice cream; I feel like I'm a good judge as I will try any ice cream anywhere, any time. This review is courtesy of a family who pulled me and my boyfriend's arm to go into the shop (they didn't need to pull that hard though, lol). We were walking to dinner and they said we should try the shop out. Carpe diem and obviously it was a sign that we needed go ans get dessert before dinner. Plus, we were gonna share the ice cream so not as bad right? I tried a sample of the mixed berry and coffee flavors and fell in love. The ice cream was so creamy. We stopped in here while on vacation. Ice cream has a lovely texture. Super creamy and very flavorful. I tried a few flavors but settled on strawberry, my favorite. Good fresh flavor and love the silky texture. MUCH better than the place in downtown Bellingham and no drug addicts ruining the atmosphere outside like the other spot. read more

Great little stop for a quick bite in downtown Fairhaven! It had a great central location and a good selection of ice cream as well as baked goods. Service was friendly and helpful, my savory biscuit was like an elevated version of a Red Lobster cheddar bay biscuit, AKA it was amazing! Just stopped in for the first time. I ordered a two flavor ice cream cone. The server put in the first, very small scoop, then the second "scoop", was only half, because it was melted in the tub, and so runny, it barely made it onto the cone. Seriously? Note that ACME Ice Cream Cafe IS OPEN during COVID for TAKEOUT. My family and I stopped by Fairhaven and decided to get ice cream on a warm summer day. We came to this same ice cream store five years ago and so it was nice to see that this ice cream store was still in business. We ordered a double scoop of Amaretto and Zabaglione (Italian Custard) to share. The ice cream scooper described the zabaglione as similar to eggnog and so we gave it a try because it's not something you normally find. The ice cream was rich, dense, and creamy. It was also very stretchy (other reviewers have compared it to a "cheese pull"). You have to twist your spoon as if you were eating spaghetti to eat it. The amaretto tasted more like almond than amaretto; it had slivered almonds and a mild almond flavor but lacked any alcoholic taste. The zabaglione was much better and tasted like custard pudding. The server was wearing a mask and social distancing measures were in place. Overall: 4/5 for ice cream, 4/5 for service, 5/5 for health and safety standards read more

Extremely busy with zero line management & no guidance from staff or signage telling you where to go, leading to inconsistent and non-chronological treatment of customers. Also do you use gelatin as a base for the ice cream because why is it that consistency? The fudge pieces in my ice cream tasted like play doh and I had to snap the waffle cone apart with my hands to make it easier to eat since it was so stale. Don't recommend! read more

After a long day of walking, we decided to try this place as we have seen pints sold in store before. One thing that suck was that they ran out of cones and ran out a lot of their flavors. Also, there scoops are tiny! A double scoop was probably a size of a single scoop in other places. We got the banana walnuts, the fudge brownie, the raspberry chip and the amaretto. Every flavor was bold and distinct which is nice. The only one I didn't like much was the armaretto but that is just my preference. Certain ice cream had different texture. I was walking back to my car from buying some books at the bookstore when I read the sign that said "caramel apple float" and then walked right in. I've been to fairhaven many times but never have I been here. I also saw that they have house made pastries and treats so I ended up buying a savory roll as well. The only reason my review isn't a 5 star is there was some brush fibers in my roll (from the pastry brush, probably from the egg wash??? I'm not sure). I once sold ice cream. I've been enjoying it for75 years. Could this be the best tasting, best quality I have ever tasted. Yes, definitely. If you love ice cream this is the place. And one of the few shops that understands hot fudge. Add to this how nice the person was who helped us and you have as good an ice cream shop as you can ever hope to find. Phenomenal Fairhaven ice cream! In this little adorable historic hamlet of Bellingham. Looking to yelp while visiting Fabulous Fairhaven I came across this donut & ice cream parlor. I was offered tastes and was blow away with the flavors, texture and quality of Acme Ice cream. I tried the Banana Walnut which was delicious and vanilla, the best vanilla ice cream I have ever had. Seriously good ice cream in Fairhaven. Parking is available on the side streets as well as a lot about a block away. Inside has a 1950s theme. There's a shiny rocket above the front counter, hence the name. Staff were friendly. The donuts looked good but I didn't try. They give samples for the ice cream. The ice cream here is seriously creamy. Almost buttery. Special mention. They also allow for 2 half-scoops for the price of a single scoop, which is nice for trying 1 more flavour. But I should have just requested for 2 flavors in the single scoop portion as I was quite full from lunch and the ice cream pretty much stuffed me. The ice cream was rich and creamy and not too sweet. It was thick and did not melt or slide off the spoon easily. The espresso and butter pecan paired well together. I still want to get the chocolate next time. I also shared the donut with my friend. Maybe I was too full, but I did not find the donut (mocha bismarck) that nice. Buster Crabbe would be proud. Not sure if they had this type of donuts back in his day, but he'd be proud. Walking into this shop with two TVs playing Flash Gordon, the black and white version, complete with the atrocious acting, I was quite surprised with the decor. Retro sci-fi. It was quite the sight. I ended up sampling a coconut cream, classic cruller, and one with sprinkles. I liked the coconut cream and the cruller the most. The sprinkled donut, I could do without. All had a cakey texture, which I quite liked. Hmmmm.... I think I'll be back. I am due for a donut run in Bellingham, but not to Krispy Kreme. And I'll be coming for some ice cream too. read more

We walked by Rocket Donuts earlier in the day as we were strolling through the shops in historic Fairhaven and I made a mental note to come back for dessert this evening! We strolled up from the Stone Throw Brewery where we had some amazing BBQ from Back East food truck! We ordered a 1/2 doz to go and went to sit in the beautiful town square...where they had some live music and an outdoor movie. Yeah for Rocket Donuts. I have been to the downtown location and then realized that they have a location at Fairhaven. Since the downtown location has pretty good donuts, so I have to try the Fairhaven location. Came here and the staff was super friendly. We told her we came down from Vancouver to try the place out. She was surprised. So got the maple bacon donut. Not bad. Its a long john donut. Not too sweet. Nice and fresh. There are seats at this donut place. Most people just buy and go. Other than donuts they also have ice cream. I think next time I come, I should try Acme Ice Cream. Makes a good treat on a hot day. Decor here is interesting. I like it!
