I went in again, mistake. I ordered a tuna sandwich on rye. It was $9.00! the worst part was that the tuna was not good. I couldn't finish even half of it. Every time I get a sandwich I pay extra money for tomato and onion and I get one small strand of onion and tomato on half the sandwich. When brought to the clerk attention they give attitude. 3 strikes and your out. read more

I'm not sure if its the pandemic or if its that service is very slow, but whatever it is, the prices have certainly gone up, and quality has certainly gone down. The prices all around seem to have gone up by about $4 to $6 dollars , and it seems like you are also getting less food as well. I've gone on a few occasions and have been handed heros, rolls, some wraps that were 80% bread, barely any meat, few pieces of lettuce and tomato, and have been told "alright that will be $15.57", and thats for 1 sandwich alone. Now, the bread that they are using is all of a sudden smaller and the sandwiches dont seem as filled. They are charging a lot more now for weighted products, some of which seem like they refidgerated yesterdays food, to serve today. Perhaps its best to skip this place for the time being and see if they bring back the normal prices and above average quality. read more

Meh... Had a slight annoying issue with the older guy behind the counter. I walked in.. the young lady then a young man both asked me for help. I told one of them I'd like an egg sandwich so i think the girl starting working on it.. My cutesy pie 5 yr old daughter then asks if she can have the prepared mac & cheese in the deli case. At that moment the third, older guy (already seemingly tense from a store with only three patrons in it) comes up to the counter to ask if I need help. So I tell yes, can I please get the mac & cheese heated. So he starts preparing that. Once the girl comes out of the back with my egg sandwich and the old guy see hers while he's standing there with my warmed mac & cheese he looks to get angry and then starts lecturing me on how I used two of his help for my own purposes when there are other customers waiting. He portrays in front of his store that I'm some form of pushy, inconsiderate person,... and all this in front of my daughter! I can honestly say I was in no way pushy. I innocently answered the question of "Do you need help?".. So this guy has some anxiety issues or something. Even if he did perceive me slighting other customers, which I didn't, he acted like I just cut in front of a handicapped person at Disney World... real weird. He also did say at the register, "Is that right that you used all my help for your benefit here?" Still remaining calm, but having enough of this nutjob, I decided to fire back, "Oh yeah, it was very right, right for me. I got my food quickly, didn't I?" I took my food and left while he stood their red faced with anger that I can only perceive comes from a much deeper place then macaroni & cheese ordering. That being said, my breakfast was okay. Seems to be a popular local deli within the Lynbrook area. I however wasn't as impressed as other Yelpers, even besides the wack-o conflict. I won't be back. read more

My husband introduced me to this little gem when we first started dating almost 8 years ago, as its in the town he grew up in. And it has quickly become my favorite deli ever!!! The service is great, even when it gets packed for the lunch-time rush. They're very accommodating and friendly, and they know their regular customers well. Our favorite sandwiches have to be the "Malverne Special" (roast beef, melted mozzarella cheese and bacon on a garlic hero) and the "Chicken Delight" (chicken cutlet, melted mozzarella, bacon, lettuce, tomato and italian dressing on a roll). Ok, I am one of those LI-BK-LI transplants. Being a Long Islander Ive come to expect a quality bodegas cannot and will not cater to. For that kind of quality and when I mean quality I am talking thick heros, coleslaw thats not questionable and decent prices, you would have to scout places with the words "healthy and organic." Like Khim's millenium health food market or Sunac Organic grocery or Hana foods(i know that last one didnt have healthy in it) sometimes you find comparable quality but the price is exorbitant. One time I bought a pair of sneakers in midtown for like $109.99. I was like yeahhhh got me a pair of fresh kicks until later that day my friend and I were walking around in soho and I saw the same pair for $89.99. My friends quips "location, location, location" Like I get it, you live in Williamsburg, Bushwick or some other place so you're going to pay more for the same shit purely because of location. I'll get it here at the Malverne Deli for cheap but at least here on LI I know what to expect. Its reliable and like an old friend you grew up with. Sho'Nuff. read more

My boyfriend and I always used to share the "Love at First Bite" sandwich, not because we're the sentimental type but because you can't beat juicy roast beef, thinly sliced turkey breast, melted swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and copious amounts of oil and vinegar generously packed into a soft hero. The sides are more than competent -- in particular, I like their egg salad and the mac&cheese. Service is friendly, which helps because it's on the pricier side. I go here every Saturday for the past 1.5 years. My family must have bagels on a Saturday, must be my Semitic influence. The food is great. Bagels and muffins are fresh. Friendly staff. Rarely do the foul up my order. It's definitely a locals join. They seem to be on a first name basis with all their customers which I find fascinating. They love Jackson. He rearranges their candy display for them, and makes sure all of the bags of chips get touched. He also ensures the the cold air get removed from their grab and go cooler by squishing his face between the clear plastic curtain planks. Great business great food. Today two sandwiches and some salads $25.00 - ok if everything was great - but it was awful. Used to live around the corner from this place and they were amazing. Traveled 1/2 hour to go there last month for salads to bring to a friend's house for a BBQ. Spent $32.00 and was embarrassed because the cole slaw and macaroni salads were not fresh. Ok so anyone can have a bad day. Went back today. Disappointed once, shame on you - disappointed twice, shame on me. Asked for a very rare roast beef sandwich with lettuce, tomato, heavy mayo, salt and pepper on rye. Bread was so dry the crust FELL off. Truly barely 2 oz of extra well done, fatty, grisly roast beef with lettuce, no tomato or salt and pepper and I'm not sure if there was mayo. I took a pic because it was such a joke - just can't seem to post it. Second sandwich also went into the garbage - BLT with american cheese on a roll with extra mayo. Lots of bacon that was "overheated" in the microwave - so much so that you couldn't chew it. Again wasn't sure if there was any mayo - looked for it but couldn't see it. Ordered 1/2 lb each of cole slaw (got just about a 1/4 lb), potato salad, macaroni salad (wasn't covered properly - went all over the bag), and health salad drained well (there was more dressing than salad). Tall kid with an attitude waited on me. Whose nephew is he? I did call 20 minutes after I left because I was so angry - the guy I spoke to was concerned enough - said to come back but I couldn't waste the time to drive back, park - always difficult there, have the order replaced and drive home. Instead went to Subway. MUCH better pricing, ok food - prepared to my liking and an overall more pleasant experience. Never again. I haven't had any food from here but I came in and needed to turn silver change into green dollars and they accomodated me without hesitation. This is important to me because a few different stores in the area refused to take my $5 worth of change. Love this place! We recently moved to Malverne and one of the things I worried about was missing our awesome deli's. The food is delicious and the staff (Michelle) is wonderful! The 1/2 & 1/2's are the best thing I've ever drank. Paul is helping us with a catering order now & has been so attentive to what we want. They are also opened late offering delicious dinners and soups to pick up on your way home. Picked up some breakfast sandwiches there this past weekend. WOW! My family has gone to this deli for 35 years. It is our go to place even though we have lived in RVC for the last 20. The place is clean, the food is fresh and of the highest quality, and the staff and owners are friendly and accommodating. Have gotten catering many times over the years and both the food and presentation are excellent. When I read some of the lower rated comments I wonder if they went to the same place I've been going to since 1983. If you're in the lovely town of Malverne and are hungry, do yourself a favor and stop by. It won't disappoint. read more
