I went to the lake with my family and we went to mama d's for carry out, we got pizza which was like just throw cheese on bread with no sauce. Extra toppings costed almost $3 each which is ridiculous. Would not recommend going if you want Italian food. read more

My husband ordered the shrimp scampi (which should be a any restaurant's go to dish) and it was too lemony and bitter. I ordered the chicken marsala. Which tasted like sugared salsbury steak. In both dishes the sauce was way too much and way too much of it. I asked for a box and drove to the gas station down the road and threw it out. The woman who seats people was so rude. We had extra (three)people added to our table and she couldn't handle it. Very unprofessional and told the three others they (a mom with two young children) would just have to sit across the restaurant. I understand seating large groups can be difficult but show some class. They ended up leaving and were embarrassed by the way she made them feel. read more

I have to say one of the best Italian restaurants ever! must try penne chicken carbonara it is wonderful and pizza of any kind is the best i love the white pizza adding spinach. calzones up to four toppings of your choice to the rolls,chicken roll or broccoli roll adding chicken is great or just regular pizza is to die for they have two great pizza makers there that i know of and two awesome cooks including Melo who has taught the cooks everything he knows which he brought from italy himself. tends to be a little loud when busy but as a italian place i want it to be loud to feel more like family! I love the staff of servers they have including Cassie and brittany and including their long term employees such as Nancey or Ronda,if you are going to come in and eat one of the four are a must, but if your just in town for the night do note they deliver to local hotels and businesses or you can call in and take your food to go! read more

First let me say I have been here multiple times. I always try and give restaurants a few tries just in case. But sadly, mama d's has disappointed on every visit. The service was good each time and the servers were usually nice and attentive with a few exceptions. The food though is just awful. The noodles are old or overcooked. The sauce is bland. The meats are bland. And the free bread is very salty and tough. I have tried multiple dishes, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parm, and pizza. Three common staples to any Italian restaurant and each was less then impressive. I really wanted to like this place because it is one of the only Italian restaurants in my area. But the low quality food has convinced me to drive the extra miles from now on. I wouldn't recommend. read more

My husband has been driving by here for years. Never been able to stop. He had a delivery (large freight) there today. He decided to have pizza (our favorite food) for lunch. He had a slice of peparoni and another slice that had everything on it. He said it's the best pizza he has ever had. Said the people there were extremely nice. He was were he could see the cooks working making everything fresh. Grabbed a card so he can order and pick up on his way through from now on. Planning on taking me there for our anniversary. I went here because I was told it was great food. I ordered what I believe they consider to be shrimp scampi. It was terrible not only could I tell the pasta had been cooked earlier that day and reheated with this terrible white sauce. Shrimp were breaded and soggy. When I told the waitress it wasn't good I got nothing. My husband and I paid $40 for a terrible meal I took 2 bites of. I would give 0 stars if possible NEVER going back! read more

We're locals, and this is one of the Best Italian Restaurants I've eaten @ in a very long time. We had lived in a big city until we moved here though, and it still beats the Big City restaurants. Hey, the red sauce Sicilian is not to be missed either. Interesting sweet sauce at the start with a wonderful heat at the finish. We had the chicken alfredo and the lasagna, which came with a large loaf of bread and a salad. All were excellent with large portions and priced very reasonably. The creamy parmesean salad dressing was also very tasty. The decorations were quaint, and the bathrooms were clean and neat. If travelling through Calvert again, we would definitely stop there and recommend it to others. read more

We stumbled across this place years ago by word of mouth when passing through Paducah, and were thrilled to find authentic New York pizza in western KY! ( My husband was raised in New York and is very unimpressed with midwestern pizza.) We eat there every visit now on our way to Kentucky Lake and have never had a meal that wasn't hot and delicious. This weekend we tried Chicken parmesean and, my favorite, pasta primavera with pink sauce.. So yummy!! The homemade bread served with real butter, the excellent service, and , of course, my husband's favorite item, meatball pizza with Italian sausage and garlic, made it another successful weekend at the lake. We highly recommend this restaurant to everyone we meet in the area. And, of course, we will be back! read more

mama d's is a place with crappy service. we walked in at 8:00, they didn't greet us. no welcome, no contact at all. second of all they knew the restaurant closed at nine and no one said anything to us and let us stand there looking like a fool. i wouldn't recommend to go here. read more

What this small town restaurant lacks in appearance, it makes up for in the wide variety of authentic Italian food. I have been here on many occasions, each surpassing the last. My first experience with Mama D's was before homecoming with quite a large party. We had over twelve people and a small interval of time to eat in. The service was phenomenal with very specific attention to our group yet still tending to the needs of the couples in the restaurant. With only a single room for walk in seating, you would fear a long wait every visit. However, this is not the case. I have never waited a single time whether with my party or two or thirteen which is impressive on its own. The caesar salad is the perfect appetizer for any of the traditional Italian dishes such as a gourmet pizza or rich Penne alla Vodka. The dessert menu is however limited and occasionally the servers can be irritated due to how crowded it may be. If you are expecting an exclusive Italian bistro then I wouldn't recommend this diner with red and white checkered booths lining the walls. But if you want a hearty Italian meal then it definitely won't disappoint. It has a very family friendly atmosphere but it would suffice for a casual date if need be. read more
