We waited an hour after we were told it would be 15-20 minutes. This is the norm. Why do you always tell everyone it will be 15 minutes when it never is. I have gone to Mama Inez occasionally for almost 30 years and the food is NEVER ready when you say 15-20 minutes. It seems like they don't actually start the phone order until you actually show up to get your food. The tortilla chips appear to be from a bag, the dishes are much too heavy on cheese, and the rice and beans are bland. Mama Inez was a wonderful find in Pocatello. Last Wed I drove through Pocatello trying to find the perfect place for the perfect margarita. Mama Inez's had a full parking lot at 5pm on a Wed (unlike the empty two other places I'd just rejected). The outside was inviting and there were folks of all ages entering the place. My goal was the ultimate margarita so I bellied up to the bar and chatted with the woman pouring there. She was delightful and made me an absolutely wonderful margarita, exactly as I asked for (shaken not stirred!). I also had the vegetable enchilada which exceeded my expectations. The whitest least authentic Mexican food you'll find in Pocatello. Throw a pound of cheese and enchilada sauce on it and you pretty much have every dish on the menu. The only good thing is the cheese crisp after a few margaritas. I wouldn't suggest anything else on the menu. read more

We went on a Saturday night and there was only 3 other tables being used. Apparently the locals know how awful this place is now. Moved to Utah a couple of years ago. Really miss this place . Can't find anything like it Salt Lake. Stopped in for old times sake. I love Mama Inez Mexican Restaurant! I use to live in Pocatello and moved away. Now every time i am in town i make a point to go there and eat at least twice! The food is very unique and genuine. The staff is great and even though i don't infrequent it as often as i would like to, the staff still remembers me and my favorite dish. I would recommend this place to anyone, anytime! The black beans are amazing. I had a small chile relleno and it was more than enough. Loved the green sauce and the staff. Put all this together with a couple of Dos Exis and you have a lovely cheap solid meal. read more

I love the new resturant location. It is more comfortable. The same friendly staff is there and they treat us like old friends. The food could be spicier, but I'm hispanic, so go figure. Excellent food. I love the cheese crisp! Been going here for years, often for our anniversary or birthday but sometimes just craving the food. They give good portions, so a single bean burrito (plus the rice and beans that come on the side) in addition to a cheese crisp stuffs me full and if I get a medium bean burrito, I have left overs to take home and eat. ;-) They have two ends of the building separated by a hallway for different atmospheres. I read Gerard's review, and I totally agree with him. My favorite thing on the whole menu is the Chili Colorado, it is really, really good. They have these deep-fried nachos as well that come as an appetizer, but really are a meal unto themselves. I don't really think that this is the place for the "authentic" experience, but their food is so much more flavorful and just well created that there isn't really a close second in town, I don't think, anyway. read more
