The service was excellent. Our server offered suggestions, and we took them. The cheeseburger was the best burger that I have had, in quite some time. The meat was juicy, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Served with batteries fries... We also had the French dip sandwich, with onion rings. My husband stated that it was "really good". That means he loved it. Upon arrival, the place looks a little aged and could use a bit of a face lift. This restaurant used to be a Sambo's (oh how my memories wander back to my childhood, mentioning that) and then Oliver's has been there for 37 yrs. One side of the restaurant is sit down (white table clothes) and the other side is booths and counter seating. This place was Recommended by a few locals. Whatever they are doing...keep it up! I come here often and Order their Cobb salad which is a decent portion . It deff is pricy for a salad but it's the best in town. Slim pickins here in Pocatello. I didn't give it 5 stars because there's Been a couple times where I've had to ask for a clean fork or glass. Also, I have found a hair before in my salad. Food was mediocre. Homemade is a LIE. Our corned beef hash was straight out of the can and not worth the $15. And the whole meal was definitely not worth it regardless of taste because all four of us had explosive diarrhea an hour later. 1 star rather than 0 because the fries were good lmfao. What a find! After a terrible start to our road trip up to Wyoming, (our transmission blew up in the middle of nowhere) we needed some kind of mini road trip close by to where we were staying in Logan, UT so we decided to go up north and found ourselves in Pocatello Idaho! Of course, by the time we got there, we were pretty hungry. I just wanted some good diner food so I pulled into Oliver's parking lot and man was that a great decision. They definitely run on "Mountain Time" but it was totally worth the wait. I ordered chicken fried steak with home fries and my boyfriend ordered just a traditional breakfast and it was so delicious. Since it was breakfast we got a side of toast with our meals and even the bread was amazing. But what took me by surprise was their preserve they served with the toast. I am NOT a condiment person, especially jams and preserves, but I was hooked. I wish they sold the stuff by the gallon. I'm not sure if I'll ever be back to Pocatello but I can guarantee you I will tell everyone I know about this diner!! Keep being delicious! read more

Went to this nice clean dinner style eatery for dinner. Sat at the counter and, had fast friendly service. Food was served promptly. Now for the downside. I ordered the meatloaf which was more like a large hamburger patty with gravy with little or no flavor. An addition of season salt which was on the counter helped. I went to Oliver's for breakfast every Saturday for 7 years. Needless to say, I love it. Yes, the decor is outdated (the 70's weren't that bad!). Yes, it is a diner (complete with a counter). Yes, sometimes the service can be slow (maybe I'm not as uptight about this as some people). If you're expecting a gourmet bistro, don't come here. The food is well-made and the servers are friendly, what more do you need? Just like Dennis H. said, it is absolutely the best option in Pocatello for vegetarians, which is surprising. The salads are gigantic and they have multiple veggie dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I give it 5 stars for what it is- a DINER Tips: 1. Check the special board when you walk in. 2. One of my dining partners always gets oatmeal and says it's well-made. This is the most important tip: 3. The breakfast club is the BEST thing on the breakfast menu. I've been going to Oliver's off and on for the past five years. I went last night for dinner, and after I was seated, a couple walked in with a large golden lab and sat down a couple of booths from me. I'm assumed that their dog was a service dog of some sort but was stunned that they actually brought it into the restaurant while other people were eating. The dog sat partway under the table with its hind end sticking out in the isle. I asked the waitress why there was a dog in the restaurant, and she replied that service animals were allowed. I asked her, "Isn't that sort of unsanitary?" She replied, "Well, it's not for everyone." I finished the rest of my food, and while I was finishing, the dog stood up and shook itself, releasing fur into the air. That's when I got up, paid my bill and left. I posted a message on their FB page about the incident, but they never responded. Service dogs or not, they do not belong in an eating establishment. read more

Amazing unique omelets here! I stopped in for breakfast on a recomendation, and I was not dissapointed, this place is really good, food service, everything. I got the NY omelet which is filled with corned beef hash, topped with swiss cheese and green onion. I always use ketchup with omelets, but this one didn't need, perfect as it came. The eggs nice and fluffy, hash grilled first, and the cheese icely melted on the top. The hash browns are optionally served with gravy (white sausage ), I had never heard of gravy with hash browns, but I have been converted! Like Dante describing where he was headed, something like abandon hope, the inscription on the glass by the front door asks you to abandon hope this is a fast foot restaurant. The lentil rice bowl is a killer of great taste: I ask--in Pocky? Breakfast was the veggie scramble with hash browns. The latter were fabulous because there was no grease (see my review of Stepping Stones in PDX). Here's the deal: you can go to a chain or you can go to a place like this. The service was what you would want in a place where people "have coffee." We have to go to this town often and there are not a lot of options if you aren't a cowboy or some other thing. We saw a coupon for Olivers on Restaurant.com. We looked at their menu online and was impressed. We went there with coupon in hand. I chose the double sirloin dinner ( 2-8oz steaks) . My wife chose a cobb salad and an egg salad sandwich. We also had a shrimp cocktail for an appetizer. I went here with my family, and it's a perfect place for breakfast and chatting. I ordered the club sandwich with hash browns and a side order of two eggs over easy. Their club sandwich had bacon, ham, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and eggs. Usually a club sandwich does not have eggs on it but it was surprisingly delicious. The hash browns were crispy, and went well with the side order of eggs. All of us are here for about $10 a person which included coffee. They also have a vegetable energy juice drink which has carrots, and other vegetables. It was quite revitalizing to have it with breakfast. I also ordered waffles and a sausage patty for my fiancé. It came with fruit as well, and it cost $7. There was enough food for two meals, and the sausage party was as big as a chicken fried steak. :D Our server was quite attentive, and they have great customer service. The only drawback to Oliver's is that they don't have eggs benedict. They should definitely add this to the menu. Overall I recommend trying Oliver's for breakfast if you have not been there before. My mother and I have eaten at Oliver's four times in three days. I'm in the process of moving and we wanted some good, basic food. We are both vegetarian and found there were many, many options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The potato bake was great, as was the potatoes with vegetarian chili. (Hey this is Idaho- we like potatoes!) the vegetarian chili is grand. :) The only thing we were not 100% impressed with was the spaghetti and eggplant on the Senior menu- my mom said the eggplant tasted "off." Mom said it didn't taste very "homemade" like other things on the menu. It's a great little diner- nothing fancy (which is fine with me). :) The prices are excellent, too. read more

This has always been one of my favorite breakfast places, but their lunches & dinners are great too. Everything here is home made & fresh down to their bread & jellies! A simple side salad even has broccoli & cauliflour. If you get fruit as a side it's not just grapes & a banana but also fresh pineapple & melon. The staff is friendly too. read more

I came here with my friend and we both fell in love it. She got the basic finger steaks and I had their special which was Chicken Alfredo that night. I love chicken Alfredo and I honestly didn't expect anything special. Alfredo is always the same right? Wrong!. It was probably the best Alfredo I have ever had!!!
