The portions were enough to make two meals out of one entree. The Pappardelle was cooked perfectly. The meatballs and sausage had great flavor. I am giving a 4 not 5 since the pasta sauce was nothing spectacular and was basic sauce to me. Also, it might have been me showing up a little early before the order was ready, but it would have been nice to have some red pepper and some Parmesan cheese. I think, if I return for work again next year in this area, I will definitely make it a point to stay a few days later than I usually do. That way, it gives me a chance to try more of the local flavors. Every year before this one I was usually just leaving right after my work was done, but I needed a little me time. Well, as much me time as possible when some of your friends are still in the area. This spot is within walking distance of several hotels in the area, making it an easy destination for people and one of the busiest places to be for meals. Even in the offseason. When we arrived we were greeted promptly at the door and lead to a booth. With menus in hand we were on our way to deciding out meals. I teetered between two, Lasagna and Bolognese. A few of my friends that I came here with had been before and they couldn't shed much light on the matter. When our server came to the table to take our drink orders he was insightful on my options. He basically convinced me in going with the Lasagna with the soul reasoning being that they use the Bolognese sauce in the Lasagna. Sold, Lasagna it was. A bit about the place. Offseason hours a a bit peculiar, short hours during most weekdays and longer ones toward the weekends. It was warm and welcoming and lively. Our server was a delight, I believe one of the owners, or at least that was what the pictures on the wall portrayed. He made sure we were taken care of and that our needs were met. He even apologized for the timeliness of our food coming out. Then the food did arrive. What took me by surprise at first was the portion. It was more than satisfactory, it was quite the piece of Lasagna. Then the first bite, the server didn't lie, it was quite tasty and I was happen that I didn't have to go with just the Bolognese. The sauce held so much flavor and it was quite the item to pull everything together. It was layered perfectly and a fitting meal. My friends were surprised I finished the whole thing. This will definitely be a place I will stop back at if I return. The eggplant rollitini is excellent. I've eaten it a lot of times and it's always wonderful. Also, the bar is a lot of fun. The bartender has been there forever and he is friendly and attentive. There is a jukebox that people always play fun songs on. The restaurant part is also nice but it is always entirely too cold - so bring a sweater. But the real reason I don't give Mama's more than 4 stars is the plain pizza is $19 == entirely too expensive for plain pizza. Once you add toppings it is insanely expensive. It's not even my favorite Dewey pizza but it's good enough that I come here a few times a summer. The wait staff is always nice and helpful. We were here last night for dinner and had a really nice waitress. If the prices were better we prob would come here more. read more

Really enjoyed our meal here. Started with the arancini which were filled with ground beef and pea. Sauce was delicious and the balks were cooked perfectly. Shared a large cheese and pepperoni pizza. We have a.house in Dewey and Mama Maria is our go-to restaurant for solid, reasonably priced food. I'm pretty sure the pizza chef only speaks Italian. I've rarely had better Italian food in Italy. A really disappointing experience. The apps were okay, and the pizza was decent, but the service was terrible. Our server disappeared for 45 minutes (no exaggeration). When a man came to bring us our pizza, it wasn't what we ordered. He offered no apology for their mistake, only said, "We'll have to make a whole new one." As we waited for our new pizza, the server never came over to clear our appetizer plates or refill our drinks (we had to flag down someone else for that). At the end of our meal, the server finally reappeared to offer the check but made no apology (or acknowledgment) of the fact that our meal was delayed by her mistake. Avoid this place. We were here off season, needed pizza, it was open. Turned out to be a nice little place. We're vegan and they made us a terrific veggie pizza with no cheese. They seemed to have an extensive menu and the special for the day was butternut squash ravioli, which is different, but sadly not vegan. I only gave it 3 stars because it was "just a pizza place" for lunch for us. The wine was ok, not exceptional. The server was very friendly and I think we even met the chef.
