An awesome beach bar/ restaurant with indoor & outdoor seating. Many TV's with ballgames. The service is friendly and food comes fast. Drinks are flowing . Even though every reviews raves about the crab cake- it deserves to be- they are THE BEST!

Excellent food. Crab cakes are a must and their Asian tuna! Orange creamsicle crushes are delicious as well. Highly recommend, but go early or you'll wait

Woody's crab cakes are definitely a must get during a trip to Dewey. The crab cakes have so much crab and such little filler that they are a little bit mushy, but because the flavor is 10/10 it's worth it. Crab cakes come as a sandwich or a platter and then they offer a variety of sides. The Asian slaw was actually so delicious and was the perfect accompaniment. Even though we all ordered crab cakes the menu is large with lots of amazing seafood options. They have a really nice outdoor patio, but it's hard to snag a spot at dinner time. Unfortunately we ended up inside and it was a bit stuffy. Still an incredible experience though!

Everything was delicious, especially the crushes! We got the fried pickles, crabcakes and a turkey wrap. If you like traditional crab cakes you'll love these. The wrap was very refreshing. The pickles were surprisingly very good! Would visit again!

My girlfriend and I were excited to try Woody's because of the good reputation and it was only a short walk from our hotel. When we arrived, the older man who was seating guests was staring straight down at his phone and didn't realize we were there. When he finally noticed and seated us on the patio, we watched everyone around us get service. No one came to greet our table for about 10 minutes, therefore I had to go up to the hostess again and ask him if we could have a server. When the server finally arrived, he wasn't apologetic and honestly it seemed like our presence annoyed him. We were pretty discouraged at this point and ended up just opting to get drinks and apps at this and then dinner elsewhere. The oranges crushes were all very good. We tried the whipped crush and grapefruit crushes which were delightful. The crab soup was also very good and the nachos were mediocre, but we expected that from a seafood restaurant. The menu is pricey due to the location of the restaurant and they are known for their crab cakes, but we didn't stay for entrees. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side with seating in and outside. The overall vibe of the staff was strange, some servers very bubbly and warm to their tables, but most seemingly miserable. Overall, we were disappointed but would try it again hopeful our experience was not the norm.

We come to Woodys as a tradition whenever we go to Dewey Beach. They have the best jumbo lump crabcakes, made with barely any filler. You can taste the crab every bite and all the other food is delicious as well. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in their food. It is a highly popular spot so a wait may happen but if you go early or in between peak hours you should find a spot. 100% recommend and will keep coming back every time. The vibe is awesome as a beach bar.

Just the best jumbo lump crab cakes! Never disappoints, consistently outstanding, always glad we stopped. Good amount of outdoor seating, limited dedicated parking but street parking available, good service. Beachy vibe outside and classic bar vibe inside.

Great place located along the main drag way of Dewey. Parking is nonexistent, and parking in general in this beach town is tricky. Once you find your way here, there's tables on a patio, tables under a covered patio, and a few tables inside along with a bar. This isn't a massive restaurant. However, it is a very welcoming and friendly place to grab a bite to eat. This is a locals place for sure. Our server was great! Very attentive and our food didn't take long to come. Been in a few times and it's the same employees so obviously they treat them well if they stay for extended periods of time/years. Ordered crab soup and two different types of wings - Old Bay and Mild. Both were ordered extra crispy and both were cooked perfectly!! They are tasty. Highly recommend the wings. Always will be a favorite of ours while visiting the area. Do yourself a favor and swing in for terrific food, drinks, and the feeling that you are at a friend's patio just enjoying the beach vibes!

Woody's is clearly a Dewey legend so I definitely wanted to experience it for myself. I can see (and taste) why their crab cakes are top ranked - fresh tasting with minimal filler. For the price, they need to level up their tartar sauce - it's too heavy on the mayo component and greasier than others. Service is great, which is no surprise.

Not the best photo, but that's only because I went right in, forgetting to take the picture first

I consider myself a connoisseur of all things crab so when my friend recommended that we go to Woody's in Dewey Beach, for "the best crab cake ever", I was all in. Well, if we're only going off of the restaurant's likability by the number of seats available, there was one table left and we got it. I scanned the entire menu but the crabcake appealed to me most because it said it was virtually filler less, which meant that the lump crab meat was going to be plentiful. The wait was very short and I was not disappointed by the quickness or that crab cake in the least. Let me tell you something. I love a good crab cake with no filler and this went above and beyond. I looked around, it seemed pretty obvious that everyone felt the same way I did. I ordered a crabcake with no bread but left the old bay chips on there because they were homemade and I got myself a crush. Nothing about that meal was mediocre. It was the best. I'm still thinking about it to this day. I know there are plenty of places at the beach that you might want to frequent but if you love yourself, you'll go there at least once, but I'm assuming that you'll go back a couple of more times. there's not a whole lot left to say about that crabcake except I sure wish I had taken one to go. Enjoy!

If you have never had crab -- and specifically crab cakes -- while in the mid Atlantic region of the US...please add it to your bucket list! My wife and I were driving down the Atlantic coast and spent the night in Dewey Beach...and walked up to Woody's which was a few blocks from our hotel. The food here lived up to its Yelp billing...very delicious. We started off sharing the melty cheese and crab dip...on my....this could be a meal on its own! And then came the lump crab cake and salad...as expected...the crab was fresh and flavorful. This place has a nice patio for outdoor seating..and our server told us the Biden family have a beach house nearby and often come in for food..if it's good enough for the former President is is good enough for me! 5 stars for sure!

Service is faster in the off season, but still a wait! Service once seated was fast. Servers bringing the food could use a little help remembering who ordered what. Also, our app was served almost the same time as the entree. The yin-yum. The crab cakes live up the the reputation. The Mac and cheese really only had cheese on top and a weird cheese-breading filling under the top of cheese. Would go there again

Overall had a great experience here and would suggest people stop in for themselves…read more We walked in a few nights before Christmas and it appeared to be just finishing a huge rush. Sat relatively fast and our server (forget his name) gave us a heads up that the kitchen was behind. We ordered then expecting to wait but the food came out very fast. Everyones meals were excellent, from the pork belly appetizer, burgers, seared fish sandwich, huuge hot dog, and nachos. Our server was very attentive and got us everything we needed quickly. Overall a very good experience and would go again when in town.

I only had the one I paid for. There's no need to lie, bad days happen. This is not a speakeasy, this is a restaurant cosplaying as a speakeasy. That may be a bit harsh, it's a speakeasy in training. Sure, it's got all of the speakeasy decor, blackout curtains over the windows and doors, and a big selection of pedestrian liquor but it's not quite there. We went in on an early evening on Wed and there were maybe 5 other patrons in there. Our waitress was nice and brought us water to the high top. She brought us two food menus, and a specials menu. I asked for a bourbon list and she brought it; no prices on the list. Annoying. On the specials menu there was a small section of manager recommended drinks and one was a Willet. The way it was written was confusing because it said it was both a 4 year and 14 year for $52, so I asked for clarification on the age statement. She took the menu to the barkeep, who confirmed it was a 14 year so I said yes I'll have that. A drink was brought to me, but I could tell from the taste that it was not what I ordered. I asked the waitress for the bottle, she asked the guy behind the bar for the bottle and he pulled down a willet pot still bottle (pot still is the entry level Willet and at best a 5 dollar pour, no where near what I asked for). I told her that I was given the wrong drink, then she approached the bar and between her, and the male and female bartenders they had a weird back and forth conversation. Then, finally they pulled down the bottle that I asked for, that was advertised, and gave me a pour of it. I asked to see the bottle and the waitress brought it over but held it instead of putting it on the table (it was a 13 year Willet, Paper Trail). As we were about to order we were told that they reset the menu the very day before, with the focus of putting more love and care into the food. Feeling good about that, we ordered the French quarter catfish and the bourbon braised short ribs. The corn that came with the short ribs tasted straight out of a store bought steamable pouch, and the "ribs" weren't ribs at all, just sliced meat. The only redeemable thing about the catfish dish was the aioli; the rice had no flavor, the corn was cold and hard, and the catfish was mostly breading. We both took a few bites and resigned. I have been to many speakeasies around the US, and there are common themes: a much better selection of liquor; 95% of the bourbon were low tier bottles you can find in any liquor store for around $50. Also, when customers ask for the bottle, it isn't because we plan to steal it or drink from it, its because we're genuinely interested in the information on the labels. The quickest way to get people to stop spending money is to make them feel as if they can't be trusted touching a bottle. Perhaps it was an off day for the staff and this wasn't a typical experience, but I won't go back.

When we got there, several people were waiting for tables but we were able to walk on by since we had the res. When we sat down we learned it was restaurant week! My bf got the carpaccio (also delish). For our main course I got the branzino. It was topped w fennel and carrot and it tasted so good w the fish. My bf got the fried chicken and he enjoyed it. We both loved our desserts. I got the strawberry - yum!! And he got the blueberry bread pudding. I had several tastes of his and I wasn't sure which dessert I liked more. Def need to come back!! After many a weekend spent and many a restaurant tried we welcomed new eats at The Blue Hen. This menu is intriguing- small, tight but inventive- we were so excited to eat here! Was wonderful in having a table ready when we arrived for at-will, no reserve seating at about 7pm. Quiet corner. Promptly greeted by our server. She was gracious, so nice, and helpful our whole dining time. We ordered readily, in Mom's overwhelming hunger, lolol. Ordered the Lobster Toast and the Yellow Tomato Gazpacho, as starters. Amazingly accommodating on our order of this gorgeous gazpacho. We were given 2 bowls to split this tomato beauty. A few spoons of smooth & sweet, acidic, flavorful, gripping. Could have ordered more! The Lobster Toast- Accompanied by a concoction of radish, sesame, bitter-sweet....stunning bites in this salad. Unfamiliar but pronounced in the combination. Well done. The lobster- Absent. Wished for an open faced variety. Or at least a dish that advocates for lobster. Charge more. Bigger brioche. Pronounce those beautiful lobster bites in presentation. The lobster as served, was not the star. Ok, a moment for cocktails though- Whoa. Killer kill. The Church Girl Martini. Blessed be in evil, haha This Girl was too tasty in being that strong. So good in flavor, unbeknownst combos. A definite Watch Yourself and watch out for!! Entrees.....well when ordering was told the Sea Bream was out- disappointed on that. The entree menu is small, so should keep available. And when we entered the restaurant it was busier after we sat....so why out of a primary fish already?? So decided ahead- Mom had the Burger and I had the Crab Cake Sandwich. The burger- smashed, but still big patties. A perfect medium. Good overall. The bacon jam was an ask on the side. The bacons were really spicy lardons and were delicious. My crab cake sandwich. Hmmm. You are a sandwich. For the pricing, it's not there. Ate the Lumps, but the rest of the sandwich should I say was in the Dumps? Nothing to be said of standout. Would recommend putting this crab cake as a stand alone entree with accompaniment. Forget the bun. Overall food gets a 3.75. Drinks, environment and service a 4. The Blue Hen is not Spent. But also is not the Top Chicken.

We had to wait a while but there was plenty of seating outside which was better than some of the places we ate. We got lucky and were seated at a table at the railing overlooking the street. It's always interesting to people watch. While our waitress was attentive - she was too much so. Our food took forever to come out and she kept checking in and asking if we needed anything. The only thing we needed was our food - and maybe an ETA on when it might arrive. Fortunately, we did have our cell phones and the people on the street to keep us entertained. Also, the sea gulls are VERY aggressive and we watched one eat some leftover food off the table next to us. So I had limited options on the menu (Healthy) and ended up getting the steak salad. Hubby got the burger. Neither should have taken that long to prepare but we were told the kitchen was backed up. My salad was very good with a very generous amount of steak on it. And the steak was perfectly done - still a bit red inside. I would have liked it really red but I know they can't do rare. SO I was just happy to have the red I did. And while it was chewy as heck, it had good flavor and I didn't expect it to melt in my mouth. I would totally order this meal again. Hubby was underwhelmed with the burger. It was rather sad and small looking. But in the grand scheme of things, it was fine - but just OK. I'm guessing he would not order it again. We got our check and paid in decent time once we finished eating. Overall I think the location and ambiance made up for the poor service (food taking way too long) and sad meal for the hubby. Also, the pricing was not insane as we encountered elsewhere which also made it quite acceptable. I would lightly recommend if location matters more than service food.
