Solid restaurant with a good view of the coast, located inside Hotel Margherita. Came for a late lunch, and ordered the scallops and gnocchi with clams. There's a cover charge of 2 euros/person and tap water is 1 euro. We were given bread to start, and service is fairly attentive. I did like the butter the bread came with! Tasted a hint of lemon within the butter. Food is decent and came out pretty quickly. There weren't very many clams in the gnocchi, but the carb portion was more generous. While staying at the Hotel Margherita, we made reservations for M'ama! and really enjoyed our night here. First things first, the view is incredible. We were lucky enough to watch the sun set completely and star gaze during our dinner. The food was very yummy and the presentation was wonderful. Believe the hype! There's a reason why this restaurant is the only restaurant on Yelp in Praiano with 5/5 stars. Not only is the food delicious, but the service and experience is worth the visit alone. My wife and I were recommended this place by our hotel staff in Villa Gianlica. After deciding to take them up on their suggestion and deciding to reserve a table, we were asked what time we would like to be picked up. Picked up? The restaurant sent a shuttle to our hotel to collect us free of charge, off to a very good start! Upon arrival at Hotel Margarita (where M'ama is located) we were greeted by an extremely friendly staff member who walked us to the elevator and was then somehow waiting for us after the elevator brought us up to the top floor where M'ama is based! She literally ran up the stairs since the elevator is tiny. Even if you're not hungry, go here for a drink. They have a full bar with excellent cocktail options and a very scenic and comfortable balcony. We were shown to our table by our friendly server which had 2 glasses of prosecco waiting for us. From start to finish, every dish that came out was delicious and we weren't rushed at all. At the end of our meal, we felt kind of bad because it had gotten a lot busier and we were worried we were overstaying our welcome, so we asked for some cocktails to take to the balcony area so they could have the table back and to get the bill. Our server couldn't have been any nicer and said "You two get comfortable out there and I will bring the drinks out to you. I will bring you the bill when YOU are ready for it". After paying our bill, we were told that the shuttle was ready to take us back to our hotel whenever we were ready. Again - free of charge. If I could give this place ten stars I would. Our group of four all got different food and drinks and could not believe how amazing it was. If the food doesn't have you in awe, then the service will. From the hotel staff, wait staff all the way to the family owners they went beyond what we could have ever asked for. We even had an issue with our transportation and the owner of the hotel offered to personally drive us back to our villa. We chose this place because of another Yelp review, and weren't disappointed. The restaurant is on the roof of a hotel, with 180 degree views of the sea and coastline. The ambiance is charming, with covered seating throughout, as well as some open air lounge space. Upon sitting down we were offered a complimentary glass of sparkling white wine, made locally, as well as a small appetizer. My wife and I shared a small plate and pasta, as well as desert. This was plenty for two people. After dinner we were offered complimentary limoncello, and were offered a free ride home using the hotel car. Fabulous place! This place was amazing! They serve a unique pasta that comes from Praiano called Ndunderi (try pronouncing that correctly! See attached photo). It's not on the menu but just ask for it. It's similar to gnocchi but made with ricotta instead of potatoes. To.die.for. Everything we had here was delicious. Plus the service is top. Yes like the other reviews we received a complimentary glass of prosecco and a small delicious appetizer. The best dessert we had on the Amalfi Coast was also here pear with ricotta (see photo). It is a pricy and fancy dinner but worth it, especially for special occasions. They gave complimentary champagne, hors d'oeuvres, bread, and desserts. The food was delicious! As simple of a dish, but the spaghetti was just flavorful and the pasta cooked perfectly. The ndundari with clams and zucchini had a delicious pesto sauce (which tasted good with the bread). This may be one of the top 3 meals I've had in my life. The view is the first course... where does the sea end and the sky start? Who knows?!?!. Look left and right for amazing coastal views. When you sit you get a free drink..... a small champagne.. also you get a welcome appetizer. I'm sure, like the menu it is seasonal. The wait staff is one of the best I've seen, they will also "read your mind" if you tell them even a little bit about what you're in the mood for. We did the pumpkin blossoms. We also got the risotto with zucchini and squid ink. I got the Turbo(it's a fish dish). Both meals knocked my socks off! I'll probably make an effort to get there again before I leave. Let me start by saying that M'ama will always hold a special place in my heart because this is where we had dinner right after we got engaged! That said, we were a little confused and put off when we walked into the hotel and saw no sign of the restaurant and you have to take the elevator up. The guy at the front desk acted like we were breaking into the place! It was bizarre, but once we told him we had a dinner reservation, he brought us right up. The food, people and views here are lovely. I'll start with the food - we ate here twice for dinner in five days. Our food included things such as the ravioli (pillows of heaven), seafood risotto, a clam gnocchi-like dish and crab pasta - all absolutely INCREDIBLE! They also give you a complimentary app (and prosecco!) to start. Now for the folks who work there - they are absolutely lovely. We had Francesco as our waiter the first night and he was awesome - just top of the line. We talked to him about our lives in NYC, and he suggested we stop at his cousin's restaurant one night and mention his name! Lastly, the views. If you snag a table on the edge of the restaurant, you'll have some of the best views in Praiano. You can also walk out to the patio to snap some awesome photos. We took more than a few here. After doing a bit of research we decided to walk and find this restaurant. We were rewarded with an absolutely amazing experience. The view from our table was among the best I've ever experienced, and I've seen some pretty great views. The service was perfect. Attentive and prompt, but at the same time we never felt rushed. The food was awesome. We had the mussels and clams for first course. Very generous portion and a tasty sauce. Oh, and the wine list is expansive. We had a bottle of the local wine, recommended by our server, which was very nice. For main course we had pesto gnocchi with clams and seafood pasta. Both were very, very good. We were too stuffed for dessert, but the kind and fun servers gave us limoncello on the house (even a second round as we were paying the bill). So good, made on site. And for all of this our bill was a mere 70 euros. They offered to give us a ride back to our hotel, down the hill. Can you believe it?! What great people, great food and one hell of an amazing view. The view for dinner is incredible and the food matches the location--incredible! Atmosphere & Location: There isn't a bad table in the whole restaurant. Ocean views for miles and and a fantastic place to watch the moon rise and cast a shadow across the sea. Pure magic! Incredibly romantic. It can also be breezy, so bring a sweater and a hair tie if you have longer hair. The Food: We were welcomed with Prosecco and then shortly after ordering were served an amuse Boucher the included an arancini (fried rice ball) with some fancy embellishments like peas and ham inside the arancini. Then came a lovely plate of different types of bread. The house white wine was good. We started with scallops with a pea purée and lemon foam on top. It was a tasty and unique preparation for scallops. Then we had citrus risotto with shrimp crudo on top. Again, interesting and unique flavors that were really delicious. We finished off the meal with a seared tuna steak that was served on top of a potato purée with sautéed leeks and olives and a citrus gel type decoration on the plate that really enchanted the taste of the tuna. Really satisfying and still unique! Staff & Service: Staff we're friendly and kind and not stuffy at all as a higher-end place like this might be. They helped make us feel right at home. We also did not have a reservation and they sat us no problem. This place is worth it just for the views and romantic atmosphere. But the quality of the food and service makes it even better.
