My friend Ryan was dying to show me and my dad this place so we decided to check it out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was kinda hard to see from the street and would have been easy to miss.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we walked in there was anime posters and anime on the tv if that's your thing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I didn't love the vibe but they made up for it in flavor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They give you a paper menu that you fill out and turn in which I like. I got the create your own ramen bowl with chicken broth, green onions, bamboo shoots, mild spicy, chicken protein, sesame seeds and wavy ramen noodles. The flavor of the broth was so good, I kept drinking the broth and enjoying every bite of the noodles. I did not like the chicken, as it seemed to be dried out even tho it was soaked in broth. We also ordered the Karaage which came with three pieces and was really delicious. It also had an orange sauce that was really sweet and sticky. The people working seemed bored but it was really slow until we were leaving. The price was $20 a person for each getting a bowl and the one appetizer to share between the three of us. They did have to go bowls to take leftovers home.

Ramen with rice noodles, but all the rice noodles ate the broth...

Really good ramen overall, not cheap, but quite tasty and fun little place to eat. Also, able to work around gluten sensitivity really well. HOWEVER, buyer beware if you order the ramen with rice noodles. So many rice noodles were put in the ramen that by the time it came to the table all the broth was gone. Just a gross mass of soggy noodles... Either ask for the noodles to be served separate or ask them to halve the noodle portion. Honestly I've give 5 stars had the rice noodle ramen not been inedible (the regular wavy noodle ramen is great).

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute little place downtown Kansas City.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The parking was hard to find. You either park on street or pay by the hour. They have a wide variety of menu. Even an exclusive drink menu. Ramen was so good I even got some food to go. You order by marking on paper menu with marker. They bring your drinks and food to you. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place was a little warm inside but it was nice and friendly staff and food was so good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Great Ramen and quick service at Mama Ramen! I had Pork Dumplings and the Pork Tonkatsu Ramen Hot with a Light Bubble Passion Fruit Boba Tea. Very good and fairly priced! Check them out if you have a ramen craving.

Mama Ramen is one of the better ramen houses I've been to within the greater Kansas City area. It's on the older downtown side of the city and parking is on the street. The place does get busy but they're fast with bringing out the food. The entrance is misleading because of the Boba signs. There's a non-alcoholic bar area to sit at along with 8 sit down tables. There's a checklist for the ramen with many options, be warned that the extras could easily add up. The broth is tasteful, the meat is tender, the noodles and vegetables aren't overcooked. I've been here in the past 6 months and it tasted better (4 stars) but lately it's been 3 stars, so I'm unsure what happened. The Ramen at Mama is good for Kansas City and mid-west but nowhere close to the acceptable levels of West Coast, NYC, or Texas.

came here for the ramen and i like the fact that it's all customizable. you get 3 free toppings, a protein, and you get to pick the spice level. i ordered the wavy noodles with miso, bean sprouts, chicken, ginger, all at a mild spice level. i've heard great things about this place but my meal was just okay. the broth was good but the toppings didn't seem fresh and the taste of the meat was off (almost a sour taste). [[HIGHLIGHT]]not a lot of seating but they serve the food super fast so you're in and out pretty fast.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] maybe we went on a bad day but i probably won't be back

I picked up ramen to go. The ordering process was great, but I was surprised by the fee (only $1.25, but most places where I get To Go orders don't charge anything). The miso soup was pretty good, and it came with an epic amount of noodles. I got tofu as my protein and it was delicious. But the broth was not very flavourful, and the addition options are pretty minimal, especially for vegetables: no carrots or edamame, no crispy garlic. I'd try again, but it's not in my top 10...

There was excellent service - servers took our orders timely and food came out rather quickly. Overall vibes of the restaurant were nice! Some of the ramen toppings were cold and made the broth itself lukewarm. Still, the broth was creamy and well seasoned!

Love eating here, has the best ramen I've ever had. Great date spot, and service is always on point.

Super nice lady working the register, fast and delicious ramen. Ive never had a bad experience here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great spot for a date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I was craving some ramen on a cold, rainy night and decided to grab some takeout from Mama Ramen. The food was ready on time and was packaged perfectly to avoid spillage. We started with crab Rangoon, eggs rolls, and Takoyaki Octopus Balls. The egg rolls were pretty average but good. My favorite was the crab Rangoon. They were pretty basic but sometimes that's perfect. I also went out on a limb and tried the takoyaki aka octopus balls. To be fair, this was a first and I wasn't sure what to expect. But those are definitely not for me. They may be really good but due to the texture, I couldn't make it past one bite. I also did the Create Your Own Ramen Bowl with pork belly, Tonkotsu broth, wavy noodles, bamboo, bean sprouts, corn, and extra broth. Definitely get extra broth! The pork belly was pretty lean but I prefer that to the fattier cuts. There was a good amount of noodles and the broth was delicious. The rest of the toppings were a little lacking. I feel like they were a little stingy on that. Also it said it came with an egg but mine came with half an egg and my partner, who got the same thing, ended up with no egg. So consistency may be an issue here. Overall it was really good and the prices were good for what you get. I'll definitely be back.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]No wait, very clean, attentive service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was great! We did medium heat and not sure if they didnt think we could handle the heat as white folk or if their scale is that gradual.

Mama Ramen is a unique and authentic ramen spot. You build your own ramen bowls and fill it out on a piece of paper. You also order your drinks on the piece of paper and the staff collects the paper once you're done. I think this is a great way to take your time with your decision and craft your perfect bowl. I got the miso, with yellow noodles, pork belly, seaweed, corn, cilantro, and it comes with a boiled egg! The broth was rich and flavorful, it was a bit spicy since I ordered the medium spice level. They had cute Japanese decorations and a nice ambiance with the music. You pay at the front and it was an easy transaction!

This place is delicious and has a very authentic feel to it. I love the variety they offer and the system of filling out a card to order your food. The service was also really fast, we waited barely a few minutes. The "hot" level spicy for the ramen was perfect and had a good kick. 5/5!

My mom and I had dinner here on a weekday, I would definitely recommend getting reservations on the weekends because the restaurant isn't that big. I also wouldn't say it's a great place for large groups. The menu isn't too large or complex but it seems like what they do they do right. I only gave four stars instead of five because the portions were kind of small for the price. My mom and I split all the dishes. We got dumplings, boa and Dan Dan noodles. By far my favorite dish were the noodles, they had such a different flavor profile than some of the other Dan Dan noodles I've had. Also, I'm a sucker for a soft jammy egg and this was the perfect texture. Some Dan Dan noodles I've had are in a thick peanut sauce, these were instead in a spicy broth with slight notes of nuttiness. This dish was a little too spicy for my mom so, if you don't like spice I probably wouldn't t recommend these particular noodles. The dumplings we picked were the chicken and basil ones, they had a light fresh flavor and weren't heavy or greasy at all, I easily could have eaten two orders of these. Now, the biggest surprise was the boa because I was expecting one thing but was pleasantly surprised with something new to me. We got the Char Siu Boa and instead of a traditional boa bun it was in a buttery encasing, more like a pastry crust. It is quite pricey, $15 for one boa but it had a generous amount of roasted barbecue pork. The filling was simple but the outside was melt in your mouth deliciousness. I will definitely keep Chewology in mind when I want a unique dining experience( it's a Taiwanese inspired menu) that still is comfort food.

Every menu item feels very intentional and well executed. The offerings on the cocktail menu are fabulous. Both the ube and lychee cocktails are delicious. My partner and his mom both had a sake flight, each offering was delicious and different in offering. If you like sake you will definitely find one you like with this flight! They both ended up liking a yuzu sake and split a bottle, the finish was sweet, crisp and perfect for the Kansas City heat. I started with an espresso martini, the coffee flavor was strong and sweet and I was a fan! During our meal I opted for a martini corner dirty vodka martini and as a dirty martini enthusiast I was very pleased and will continue to recommend! I finished off with a matcha martini that was sweet, creamy and smooth and paired perfectly with our tempura banana! Speaking of food, the star of the show, we genuinely had only good bites here as usual. We sat at the bar on the corner, it was a nice seat that captured the energy of the restaurant, busy but somehow tranquil. Our bartender was great as well as all the staff behind the bar and host stand! I especially appreciate the patience of our bartender, we came and ordered many rounds of small plates, (you should do the same!) and he was nothing but enthusiastic and helpful. To start we had some furikake fries and shishito peppers. There are a lot of exciting and multilayed dishes on the menu, I think these two humble sides though really pack a punch and show that everything on the menu brings it's A game. From there the food ordering escalated as everyone in my group was over the top excited. The stand outs for me were, the dry aged salmon nigiri, the toro hand roll, the crab apple roll and my group was especially blown away by the scallops and are still talking about them a week later! Noka is in my opinion, really bringing a new level of dining to Kansas City. I'm not over stating it to say it is one of a kind in this city and everyone should try to get in.

Food-wise, there were two undeniable stars of the night: * Wagyu Nigiri (100/10) - One of the best bites I've ever had. Rich, buttery, perfectly balanced, and worth ordering every single time. * Crab Campanelli (11/10) - Absolutely incredible. Comfort food elevated to fine dining quality. If I came back tomorrow, I'd order this again without hesitation. Other highlights: * Filet (10/10) - Beautifully cooked, incredibly flavorful, and paired with perfectly prepared bok choy. Everything on the plate felt intentional. * Night Market Wings (8.5/10) - The quality was excellent. The sweet heat profile just wasn't exactly my personal preference, but that's purely subjective. If you enjoy spicy food with a lingering, slightly numbing heat, you'll probably love these. * Shrimp Tempura Roll (8/10) - Very good and executed well. * Tuna Roll (7/10) - Good, but it was the least memorable item compared to some of the standout dishes we ordered. Noka excels at creating a complete dining experience. Beautiful atmosphere, thoughtful presentation, excellent service, and several dishes that genuinely surprised us.
