I was greeted by a woman and man(chef) - two of the best, endearing smiles I've seen in Arkansas. I read that it's some of the best catfish in the state and I was not disappointed. Each bite of the catfish was heaven and the fries were top notch, deliciously fried and seasoned, and was nice to switch between the two to exercise my palate. Spent the day in Hot Springs for the boat and RV show. Noticed the food truck court on the way in and decided to give it a try instead of eating at one of our normal restaurants on the Main Street. Mama Vees menu looked appealing so I tried the catfish, seasoned fries and collard greens. I can't say enough about it all. Was amazing and delicious. My husband has a cold, and was just looking for something hot and hearty, the chicken and dumplings did the trick. He said it was delicious. He also got the chicken fried steak which came with mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. He ordered sweet potatoes as another side dish as well as some red beans and rice. He would not stop raving about how good everything tasted and convinced me to try most of it. I am a super picky eater and I loved it all. I had ordered the chicken and waffles for myself. The chicken was well seasoned and tender, the best I have had in a while. It was crispy, no hints of greasiness and just the right amount of pepper. The waffles were dense and hearty, lightly flavored with maple. You can get a pork chop and 2 sides with a roll for the same amount as a burger combo from anywhere else, and a real dinner instead of frozen patties and soy burgers and whatever else is in fast food burgers. Looking for a place near bath house row and found this little food truck lot... it's cool, with a little shaded area and stage. The people are great! Very cool Vibes! The food was ridiculous tho!!! I had a special, an open face pot roast sandwich: a Texas toast base piled with mashed potatoes and tender beef and layered with some spectacular gravy- as you know, it's all about the gravy! I also bought some of the best catfish I've had in Arkansas! That's a hell of an accomplishment given it's that fried catfish is the state dish! Looking for a highly rated recommendation in Hot Springs, Mama Vee's was near the top in Yelp ratings. So I went there and I couldn't have been happier with the choice. It's one of several food trucks located a couple of blocks from the touristy food options. It made for a cool outdoor food court with plenty of seatingFried Pork Chop. The menu had many tempting options, and it went with the pork chop plate with mashed potatoes and gravy and I chose green beans as my side. What I got was incredible. A huge chop breaded, seasoned and fried to perfection. The country gravy was delicious and I love the green beans. Staff was friendly and left me know it would be about 15 minutes (it's not fast food). Chef James came out to greet me after my meal and could not have been a nicer man. My only regret is I'm leaving tomorrow morning and won't be able to try more of Mama Vee's menu options. read more

We recv'd catfish "giblets" with the silver skin still on, reeking of old oil w/ no crispiness. It was the size of an appetizer! Taste was horrible- like they caught them in their pond. Both sides- mixed greens ( actually good with hot sauce) and yams were watered down to be a soup! There were no rolls. No tartar sauce; kind of a mayo ketchup relish thing instead. Also, frozen waffle fries. I was so disappointed for $24! My husband has tried other dishes from this place and it is always a disappointment even though we want to support them. Wasn't for me! We really wanted to eat here based on reviews. I took one bite out of my food and closed the box. My husband took a few bites and threw his away. Maybe we hit an off day. There was a strangely sweet ketchup based sauce on the meatloaf. It honestly made me gag. The greens were so incredibly sweet, like someone had dumped a butt load of sugar in them. This is the best southern comfort food around. It's not fast food, but upscale. Everything that I've had has been amazing. The owner is the true essence of customer service.
