I was absolutely thrilled to find Susie and her team at Aurora Birth Center. They're very experienced and have a well balanced approach to pregnancy and birth. They have access to all of the screenings and technology, as well as a safe and comfortable, home-like environment. I felt like I had a solid and knowledgeable group of friends I could call on 24 hours a day, if need be. As I got close to delivery, I started getting really excited. We had planned to have a water birth at the beautifully designed birth center; my husband and son were to be present. Plans changed, however, when Paisley arrived 12 minutes after we got there; not even enough time to think about running the water. It was still a lovely birth by candlelight, with mellow ladies helping me along, and my family present. My son got to cut his sister's umbilical cord; what better way to make him feel like a great big brother. Afterwards, I was served a delicious homemade meal (and amazingly sweet strawberries out of Susie's garden). The experience very much fit my definition of perfection. Susie is still my primary care provider, as well as the pediatrician for both of my kids. She takes care of all of our medical needs, from physicals to birth control. July 2012 I found out I was pregnant for the first time. Right after I had my first appointment with Susie I experienced a miscarriage around 11wks. She was there to talk to me on the phone and let me know what to expect. I was going to go to the ER and she told me my body would probably be able to do it on its own and if I went to the ER I might be given a D&C. Turns out I could do it on my own and she saved me from what I imagine would of been a very traumatic experience in the ER. A few months later in I found out I was pregnant again. I had a great experience with Susie so I went back. When I was pregnant with my daughter the plan was to have our baby in our home. Through out my pregnancy my blood pressure kept rising and I was very swollen. Sadly near the end I was diagnosed with preclampsia and Susie decided a hospital birth was going to be best for me. I was induced at 37weeks in May 2013. My daughter rushed out into the world in less than 4 hours later. The birth was quick but very intense. Susie was there by my side offering her support the whole time. I very much think Susie made the right choice and if we had our baby somewhere else I feel that mine or my daughters life would of been in danger. When my daughter was about 2 we decided we were going to try to have a 2nd child. I had two miscarriages in 2015 March and July. Both times I went to my first appointments and didn't hear the heart beat. Both miscarriages happened around 11wks. Susie and her staff were there for me once again answering my phone calls even one in the middle of the night. They gave me great advice and guided me through what could of been a really traumatic experience without the help. After these miscarriages Susie did lots of tests and blood work to see if we could find any answers. Everything came back normal so we still don't know for certain what it could of been. Susie helped me make some diet and lifestyle changes in hopes it would help. 2015 was not all bad because near the end of the year I found out I was pregnant again. I figured I would just have another miscarriage so I didn't even make an appointment until I was 12wks. I went in and we herd the heart beat! It was so special and Susie was genuinely happy and excited for us. Our goal for the birth of our son was to have it at the birthing center. Almost no swelling and my blood pressure slowly crept up through out my pregnancy. My blood pressure was ok enough to have him at the birthing center. August 2016 my water broke at 39wks at 6am while I was sleeping. In fear that my son was going to rush out of me like my daughter did I went to the birthing center at 9am. Throughout the laboring process Susie and her staff mostly let us be but offered advice and checked our vitals often. When he was ready to really make his appearance Susie and her staff were very encouraging and helped me get into a better position to ease him out of me. Around 1pm our son was born and everything in the world was perfect. Every experience I have had with Susie and everyone who has worked her has been a positive one. All my appointments have been very professional and the staff is very knowledgeable. I have never felt like a burden or tossed aside. In the 4 years I have been going here I have only had to wait a little longer twice for my appointment, because someone else was having a baby. The birthing center is beautiful and we felt like guests not patients. If you are interested in having a home birth or birthing center experience I would highly recommend.

When my baby was about 4 months old, I reached out to The Birthing Stone Doula for guidance, and I'm so glad I did. The set-up process was super easy. Tiffany quickly got back to me, asked a few questions through phone call, and matched me with Julia, one of their sleep coaches. From the very first home visit, Julia was incredible--kind, empathetic, and so knowledgeable. She helped me recognize when my daughter was self-soothing and gave me practical things to try. We set goals like easing daycare naps, learning to self-soothe, and adjusting to her crib. Throughout the process, Julia was always there--quick to respond, thoughtful in her answers, and endlessly encouraging. She gave me confidence to trust my instincts as a mom, while also teaching me tools to help my baby build healthy sleep habits. Within a few weeks, we met all our goals. I'm a first time mother who really had no idea what to expect with the labor and delivery experience. Here are the main points of what we knew we wanted for our birthing experience: *delivery at Legacy Meridian Hospital *labor as long as I could without any pain medication *make use of resources to be comfortable (medicine/peanut ball, jacuzzi, massages, essential oils, dim lighting...etc) *doula for support No judgements. Compassion. We interviewed one other doula before choosing Casey and Charli. Without hesitation I knew I had to have this awesome team to support me. They are incredibly warm and friendly with tons of knowledge and experience with the whole process (pregnancy to postpartum). I felt completely comfortable upon meeting them. One of the biggest reasons why we chose them was because we were guaranteed to see one of them on the big day. Other doulas are so busy with other clients that they may send someone else from their company to support you on your big day, and that was something I didn't feel comfortable with. Casey and Charli didn't make me feel like I was just a number to add to their list of births. They always listened and asked questions. The process was easy and accommodating: first contacted via e-mail, set up the first meeting, establish a contract and deposit, set up another meeting, maintain 24/7 contact throughout pregnancy, go through labor and delivery, pay balance, and postpartum appointment. Birthing Stone offers a lot of great classes, so take advantage of these! Casey and Charli had excellent communication throughout and a great, well-organized system down to support me at any moment. I opted to have a doula-in-training to attend my delivery as well. My delivery exceeded my expectations! I had a fast delivery and ended up not using any of the resources available at the hospital. Charli and the doula-in-training were supportive and helped me to focus on breathing and relaxing during my labor. Charli made me feel like a super woman! She tied my hair back and not only worked with the medical team for me, but she made sure my husband was taken care of too. After my delivery, they checked up on me at home and helped me with any issues I had with breastfeeding. I like that they don't leave you hanging because there's SO much to this whole experience. I have delivered two of my birthed children here and after delivering elsewhere as required by…read moreinsurance, for my most recent baby, I HAD to share my experience with Family Birth Center at Silverton Hospital because THIS IS WHAT BIRTH SHOULD LOOK LIKE. I was treated with the utmost respect and every official birth protocol was followed (I work in labor, delivery, postpartum, and am very familiar with protocol). I did have one nurse in 2008 that seemed old fashioned and perhaps was trained in a different time, but everyone else supported me in my birth. I wasnt offer medication until I asked for it. I was given kindness and compassion with every contraction. I was told that I was doing phenomenal and encouraged EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. I felt empowered and respected.They fed my husband and kept my as comfortable as possible. After birth I received two post partum massages to relax me in the subsequent 3 days, I was given healthy options for food and it tasted GREAT. I was in touch with a board certified Lactation Consultant ANY TIME I NEEDED and this helped established great care and nursing. I was validated, encouraged, and treated WELL. I received 30 days lactation care included in my birth package which really helped identify some issues I was having. Their lactation support group was wonderful also. The nurses there were incredible (I will ALWAYS remember a sweet nurse named Paul in 2008, and Teryl's wonderful help in 2008 and 2012). I wish everyone could deliver here and feel this supported, or that every hospital would emulate these behaviors and make mamas feel strong and brave. Thank you for helping me gracefully become a mother with love and support. You're wonderful, Silverton Hospital. Also I credit Dr. Dalisky for helping me conceive through our treatment together, and I am so so so grateful that I was able to birth 3 children through his care. Thank you Silverton.

About a year ago, I had no idea what a doula was. When my wife said that she wanted to hire one to…read morehelp during pregnancy and delivery, I instinctively said yes because I'm no fool and a pregnant wife gets what she wants. Later that night, I quietly Googled it... Guys - think personal quarterback mechanics coach. Rebecca was referred to us from a friend who had used her services for her own pregnancy just a few months earlier. My wife scheduled a meeting and Rebecca arrived on-time, very prepared and very knowledgeable. She discussed her methodology and services and answered our questions. She encouraged us to think about it before making a decision about whether or not she was the right doula for us. She was not pushy at all, and never passed judgement on our birth plan. (I was pro-nitrous because I wanted some for myself.) Seriously though, she's so Zen/calm that it's contagious. Because we felt such a strong connection with her, we hired her. Honestly, we probably could have chased after her in the driveway because it didn't take long to know we had found an amazing, caring resource that we NEEDED to help us in our journey. With Rebecca at our side, we always felt prepared. When things came up, we knew we could rely on her to help us with experienced guidance and research. "Let me send you an article on that..." was probably the most common phrase to come out of her mouth. (Mostly because I apparently wasn't doing enough reading/researching on my own.) Even when things veered as far as possible from our birth plan, Rebecca helped us in ways that we never expected, especially in extraordinary ways that were beyond what she was obligated to do. She helped keep us calm and sane in a time when fear could have easily gotten the better of us. I can't imagine the birth of our daughter without Rebecca being there. This was our first pregnancy and a friend told us the best…read morething they ever did was hire a doula, so we took their advice and found Rebecca through Yelp, which really was one of the best decisions we made for the birth of our son. We chose Rebecca out of all the other doulas because right from the moment we met her, we felt comfortable. For us, that was very important. My wife's pregnancy and birth had its own set of complications and once we hired Rebecca, she was available for all the support we needed. She kept an open line of communication, which was especially helpful through some difficult times leading up to delivery. There were never any judgments on our birth plans or on any of our decisions. She 100% supported us and would always answer all of our questions, even emailing us articles regarding any of our concerns. By the time our delivery came around, we had grown so close to Rebecca, it felt like we had a friend there to support us. She was ready and so prepared when we needed her, that we never felt like we had to ask her to do more for us. During delivery, Rebecca kept everyone positive and motivated. She also made sure I was taking care of myself properly! i.e. eating and resting when possible. We don't know how we could have made it through delivery without her support. Overall, Rebecca is smart, kind, supportive and we felt blessed to have her there for the birth of our son. There is no question that we will hire Rebecca for the birth of our next child.

We had some routine lab work done during an appointment and talked with the midwife to ensure that…read morethe tests would be in network for our insurance, and were assured it would be. When we came to the next appointment, we found out that it was sent to a "preferred" lab of the midwife rather than the correct one. We talked to them about the concerns, and the midwife claimed she talked to the incorrect company and made sure it would not be sent to collections, and not to worry about it. Fast forward a few months, we now have a new child (NOT born at Bella Vie - we had a minor complication and they were unable to handle it and sent us to the hospital anyways!) and a 800 dollar bill which is now in collections. Please do not make the mistake of going to this birthing center - they have the exact same restrictions on visitors and masks as the hospital anyways, so you will get the same experience with a possible additional cost if you are sent to the hospital in the end.

My sweet baby boy was born right in the middle of the pandemic when the number of support people that could be present in the birthing room was restricted to 1 person. Saralyn had to join us remotely but her presence was greatly felt, as the sound of her reassuring voice brought a lot of calm to the room. As first time parents, we had some anxiety about the labor process we deeply appreciate the time she took to answer ALL our questions and the coaching she so graciously provided every step of the way. Thanks to the gentle exercises she recommended, my baby was able to move to an optimal position for delivery by my due date. Saralyn is not only compassionate and attentive, she is also very knowledgable about medical procedures concerning pregnancy, labor, birth and breastfeeding. Although I was wrong and my water had not broke Saralyn was kind and understanding, ready to be of help at a minute's notice. When the day came that I had scheduled to be inducted she was there with me and my husband as we checked into the hospital. She was willing to stay on location but we persuaded her to go home and get rest as nothing was probably going to happen until tomorrow. However hours later when I realized I was in labor we called her and she quickly arrived at the hospital. I am so thankful for her presence as none of our family members were able to make it due to such a quick labor and delivery. She was a great support for my husband and I know it wouldn't have gone nearly as smoothly and wonderfully as it did had she not been there. She made great suggestions all along the way. She was a huge advocate when I wanted to understand what was going on and the doctors and the nurses were not being as clear as I needed them to be. Saralyn is someone that you can quickly feel comfortable with and at ease around. She gives you great resources to help make decisions and respects your choices. On top of everything she provided me with some amazing lactation cookies when we first arrived at the hospital. Little did I realize how much of a life savor they would be. They were healthy and tasty and just what I needed when a meal wasn't readily available. I can't say enough how much I respect and appreciate Saralyn.
