My first time at maman was actually by accident -- I was heading to another coffee shop in the area and ended up here instead. What a surprise. The place is beautiful, very welcoming, and the coffee was excellent. The espresso was smooth, not bitter at all, and the latte had a perfectly balanced flavor. I was a bit skeptical when I ordered a decaf, but it turned out to be very good. I also tried the vegan carrot cake, which was spectacular, and the avocado toast with scrambled eggs, which was very well done. The service was good -- the staff was kind, though I didn't have much interaction. At first, I felt a little clueless about what to order, but I went with safe choices and it paid off. We have maman back home in NYC, but it was close to our brunch spot, we had time to kill, and I desperately needed coffee. It was a 15 minute wait for a table, so we just decided to grab our coffees to go and walk around the area to kill time. I had an iced americano with some creamer, my mom had a matcha latte, and my husband had an iced hot chocolate. I really enjoyed my coffee and my mom said the matcha latte was good. I have been to other Mamans before. I don't think I've ever gone to a coffee shop in my life where I had to wait 30 minutes for my coffee and then when I asked where my coffee was, they said oh they thought they already made it.... So then they started to make it. The coffee I got wasn't even mixed properly and most of the syrups were on the bottom. I will not be returning to this maman again as the service was not great. I'm a huge fan of Maman and have been to several of their other locations and I absolutely love their food, pastries, and coffee. My boyfriend was getting a haircut right next door, so I figured it was the perfect time to pop in for a quick snack and coffee while I waited. But to my surprise, I was told they were already closed and it was only 5:21 PM. The sign on the door clearly says they're open on Saturdays and Sundays until 6 PM, so I was confused. I checked Yelp and noticed it lists their closing time as 5 PM, which is different from what's posted at the actual location. If they've recently updated their hours, they really need to update the signage on the door too because it's pretty misleading and disappointing, especially for fans of the brand who expect consistency. Another day, another maman review-- and, of course, this one is five stars! It's no secret I love maman and I'm soooo happy I got to visit this location. Located on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables, the location is probably one of my favorites in terms of layout. Parking wasn't toooo hard to find with street parking all around. I did come here during a slower time of the day so maybe that's why it wasn't so bad. They had covered outdoor seating and the inside wasn't too big but it felt spacious. The staff was super friendly are ready to help as soon as it was my turn to order. I got my classics- a matcha (this time I tried one of their frozen lattes, it was delish) and pistachio chocolate croissant (my all-time fav!!). I also decided to grab their chicken caesar salad because I was hungry. I think I would opt out of this next time since it wasn't my favorite and didn't have that caesar taste. This was our first visit to maman and we'll likely give it another try. Service was good and the vibe was a busy, which is a great sign. We stopped by to grab breakfast. I had the breakfast wrap and a side of potatoes. The wrap was great, but the potatoes were awful. The side was $6 and the potatoes weren't fresh at all, which is why I gave 3 stars instead of 4. They were dry and gross, kind of like one or two day old cubed potatoes that were reheated in a microwave. This was super disappointing! Everything was impossible to finish, because of the excess of sweetness however the flavors were good. Rude, communicating by pointing his fingers, unfriendly and overall a terrible attitude. I doubt this person spoke any English either. He also got my order wrong. On our first visit, we had brunch with a pitcher of Bellinis and I never even had to serve my own refill. They were friendly and very attentive. The food was delicious and so fresh. The Elisa breakfast bowl was very yummy. The star of both visits though has been that pastry case. I struggle to choose what to indulge in! Everything looks so good and so far, everything IS so good. Even more exciting was that it was available to TooGoodToGo so of course we had to save a bag. When we arrived, we were shown a rack that had 3 bags sealed and told to pick whichever one we wanted. We took our bag and went on our way. Staff was efficient but not really friendly or engaging to see if we wanted anything else additional. As for the food, I think we are missing something. There were no labels to what things were and no instructions for reheating if needed so we tried everything as is. The scone was ok. The spiral croissant was also just ok. And the dense biscuit was like a brick filled with butter. All of these items seemed less than fresh. My fiancé decided to go out for a nice Saturday brunch. As all the other spots we had wanted to go were packed, we decided on maman as it was the current "hip" spot in town. The aesthetic is charming, as is the plating of the food. However, everything else about this place is lacking. The food tastes bland. It lacks a definitive flavor profile. It's like a mixture of French Latin Miami cuisine. But the definition is off. I can't quite put my finger on it. My fiancé got the Ham and Cheese sandwich and got a mouthful of unevenly distributed Dijon mustard that made her audibly gasp with how heavy it was on one side. My Papas Breakfast Bowl was good but that's it. It was nothing to write home about. The arugula at the bottom was completely unnecessary. The pastries were cold and not amazing unfortunately. The pain au chocolate couldn't even compare to Starbucks which is downright laughable honestly. What truly ruined the experience for us was the service. I have never in my life felt so disrespected by a staff team in my life. It felt like we were completely secondary. There was moments where I would try and call the attention of my waiter and yet they would completely ignore us or altogether forget we existed. What should have been a quick brunch turned into a longer time spent at the restaurant than we planned. As a previous review mentioned, the staff feels like they're just working towards the next tip and that you're more of a disturbance than anything else. Drove 45 minutes because the menu looked good. When we arrived all indoor tables were dirty. Only one staff member in charge of running food and cleaning tables. $89 breakfast with nowhere to seat. People started cleaning their own tables. The poor lady on duty cleaned out table the what che could. No disinfecting wipe or spray, nothing at all. Just an old very dirty white rack. I would say customer services and manager need to step it up. Just because how missing hygiene I am not sure I will return nor recommended this place.
