So between wait staff coming and going and people standing in line to order it's a bit chaotic. The food was wonderful. I had the half French toast with Georgia peaches, eggs and bacon. Our first time coming, believe me we will be back! Everything we tried was amazing. From the cinnamon bun, veggie scramble, cheese grits, biscuits & pulled pork bowl. Love love love mamas boy. The service is always exceptional. The staff is so friendly and attentive. The menu is great. You can't pass up the biscuits here. I stand true to my option that these are the absolute best biscuits around. They are large and buttery and the perfect complement to any breakfast or brunch plate. My favorite dishes here are the vegetable and egg scrambler (with cheese grits and a biscuit of course) as well as the classic bacon egg and cheese biscuit sandwich. I came in this past weekend and they've changed up the seating and serving process a bit. Now, you wait outside in line to order your food and pay before sitting down. Then, you seat yourself with your number and they bring your food and drinks to the table. Maybe it's more efficient? I'm not sure but I still love this place all the same. I don't u derstabd why this place is highly rated at all. The Biscuit was boring and depressed. The salmon cakes are dusty, dry and sandy. The orange juice tastes syrupy and artificial. Much ado about nothing. I would go farther to say much to pay for nothing. The Tofu Vegetable Scramble was so overly soaked with soy sauce sauce that I requested a cup in which to drain off the excess. The entire dish tasted of soy sauce and salt. The broccoli was barely cooked, near raw. The tofu was uncooked but saturated with soy sauce. All that and at the onset, immediately upon entering the door, you are in line, waiting to place your order fast food style, once punched in to the POS (point of sale) you are shuffled onward. And then seated. A Food Runner brings beverages and in time, your food. But no other direct service contact. At the Point of Sale they requested a possible 25% tip. WTF? For WHO???? And for what? After all that asking for money and then a thoroughly shitty meal, uh no. I live within a few blocks of this place and have given it many tries. I'm done. Move in day in Athens for my daughter. We met her sorority sisters and parents here before moving them in to their house. This place was fantastic. Outstanding quality and very delicious. I had the breakfast of scrambled eggs with bacon and cheese, delicious cheese grits and an amazing biscuit! Putting the very good strawberry jelly on the biscuit isn't recommended. The biscuits were that good. Around the table everyone ordered various things. The service and deco is hip minimalism. The food is fabulous! That's the whole point! I love it. I will admit that the food is a bit overhyped. Unfortunately, my eggs benedict & salmon were overcooked. The dish overall lacked flavor. I'd be interested to give this place another try--it seems like it has a lot of potential. Not to mention, this place gets busy often, so maybe I just got a bad dish Some items were definitely overpriced, but for the most part, I'd say the pricing is reasonable for the biscuit sandwiches. Dog friendly place in Athens food was good and decently priced they also brought the dogs fresh water in a clean metal dish. You order and pay at the counter then they bring your food to your at your table. We asked for a to go drink and they seemed kind of confused and clueless, if your from the south you usually get offered a Togo drink before you leave most establishments. I understand this is not the norm everywhere but in Georgia this is usually complementary. They also will clean up your dishes and stuff for you but with the amount of dogs around u don't want to leave food on the table so I tried to take our plates and cups inside because I wasn't sure at the time and the servers just looked totally confused and didn't want to take the plates from me it was kind of embarrassing. read more

I lived about 5 minutes from here before I moved back home, and I wish I took advantage of that more. It's very small in here, the wait can get long, and it can be loud, but it's worth it. Their huge cinnamon roll is delectable. My southerner mom approves of their biscuits and gravy. They're not as good as her mom used to make, but they're good. Great Breakfast Spot with a fast kitchen if you are in a time crunch... atmosphere is unique in a good way

As much as I love the food, I won't be back. This restaurant, which has always been my go to when I am in town, has been "woke". You have to go in and order at the register one person at a time, pay for your food, then go get a table. I understand the Covid precautions, but when I ask when they would be back to normal he said that they found this worked better for them. I said what about the customer, he replied they haven't gotten any complaints. I told him, I won't be back when I come in town. The reasons that this doesn't work for me are, The restaurant is not set up for this, there is not enough space to do it like this at the door so folks will have to wait outside even if there are tables available inside. I was meeting my colleague for a business breakfast, I arrived before him, bought a coffee, then had to go back up when he got their to order my breakfast and pay for his and mine (2 bills). It is not about your convenience, it is about the customer. The reason for the woke comments was when I sat down, 2 different people came by to tell me this was better for them and tried to convince me that because the food came out faster no one complained. For me, it was about a nice leisurely breakfast in a friendly environment where we could talk about business, not about aspiring to be fast food. That is what MacDonalds is for. They have great southern cooking and is very delicious. The only bad part about the restaurant, and it just speaks to the crowd that loves this place, is that there is a long wait. They just opened up another Mama's boy in Athens, and i THINK it is larger in size so it isn't that much of a wait. However, once you get in, it is very delicious. I'm picky about my breakfast choices because i don't eat eggs, so I ordered the red potatoes, grits bacon and a biscuit. Everything was very delicious and had me in awe. I then saw why people built up such a great hype for the restaurant because it is great. My favorite part was the biscuit because it was so fluffy and very delicious. I prefer the newer location "Mama's Boy at the Falls" because it's in a plaza so parking is more plentiful. The parking situation here is tricky and very limited. My favorite dish is the Salmon Cakes Egg Benedict. It's so wonderful and filling. It also comes with bed of greens and a giant biscuit. The biscuit is fantastic with the jam. Salmon cakes go really well with the eggs benedict. I couldn't recommend this dish enough! As well as the Peach French Toast. It's so decadent. Keep in mind there's usually a wait here as it's super busy! There is probably less of a wait if you come here during weekdays. read more

My French toast had peaches on it and I think they were even incorporated into the bread or egg bath it would seem. So full of flavor. This place is everything a southern brunch type place should be. I didn't grow up in the south but it had the feel of a grandmother's kitchen in the south. We heard how busy it gets so we tried to get here early but still had a 30 minute wait (and this is summer so students aren't even here). It's not a big place and not a lot of parking but the food and service more than make up for it. I'm not a big breakfast eater so I just got the bacon egg and cheese biscuit and I don't see how you can top it. The biscuit was baked perfectly and soft & flaky.
