I'm telling all my friends about this place! Great modern take on a meat and 3. What happened to all the meat and 3s? They are hard to find these days but this one is great ! Fried chicken -great! Fried catfish -great ! Smash burger - better than the other burger places ! Sides are all great as well. Collards are some of the best I've had in a restaurant setting. Salads are great too. ( Side and entree ) Service is good and fast as you order and pay at counter and then sit and wait for them to bring your food to the table. Then they continue to wait on you. Filling drinks and bringing you what you need. I feel like the owners are always in there working- making sure the place runs well. Talking to people, running food out. I always feel taken care of. I enjoyed my meal here. The price is a little more expensive than your average meat & 3. But the veggies are above the average place. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and made to feel welcome. I personally appreciate that they use compostable take out containers. We sat inside and were comfortable. I hope to come again sooner than later. read more

We tried Preacher Greens and it was delicious. It is located across the street from the new Kroger. They have indoor and outdoor seating . It's a casual southern style restaurant where you order at the counter and it is served to you at your table. Meals include one or two sides with either a biscuit or cornbread . Portion sizes could be a little bigger . Owner is local and was available to assist his staff and talk to the customers which is nice to see these days. Wish you continued success. read more

How can you get a lukewarm piece of overly fried chicken unless they cook it ahead of time and throw it under a heat lamp upon order? The sides are a slight bit better than canned. Counter service with awesome restaurant-style service. Our food came out in no time and it was really easy to order off the menu. The chicken was crispy and the biscuit was super soft. They also provide glass service for alcoholic beverages! Will train and the manager was very caring about every guests' experience when I was there. Very generous servings as well! Great food great menu. I ordered a beet salad and chicken salad sandwich. Both were very fresh and delicious. Service was also exemplary. As I am disabled, I was offered a menu and table service immediately upon entering the establishment. My only qualm is the plastic To-Go containers. But, I was told that I can bring my own containers in the future. Preacher Greens is a very Athens/independent type of restaurant. Was bustling with a diverse group of customers. Truly, a great value and five star dining experience. I have not been to a restaurant with such kind and attentive staff. I ordered my food to go was ready within 10 minutes. When I got to the restaurant, there was an employee standing towards the front greeting and opening the door for every customer that entered/exited. When I went to the togo counter one of the employees took every go box out of the bag and insured everything item was correct. I have never experienced such diligence in ensuring quality service. I ordered the barbecue sandwich- very high-quality meat and the vinegar sauce pairing was AMAZING. I wish I had taken a picture before- but it looked so good I forgot. The best part about this meal was how good it made me feel after even though it wasn't the most healthy option. For the price this place is an absolute winner! Please give it a try!! read more

Decided to try this place again after the recent reviews about the bigger portions sizes. I was greeted at the door which was nice and all of the staff was friendly. I will say the sizes of the sides have increased since my last review. As you can see though, the cat fish was incredibly small portion considering the $21 price. I will say there was a good amount of sweet potato chips and mashed potatoes though. The catfish was not crispy but tasted okay. The mashed potatoes were average comparable to kfc. My boyfriend got the fried chicken, Mac and cheese, and collard greens, none of which were any better than kfc (actually extremely similar in taste and texture). The toast tab website said that the fried chicken was 1/2 chicken but he only got a thigh. The biscuit is fluffy and nice. Wish it came with jelly or butter though. I also got a carrot cake cupcake which was $3 and was incredibly delicious with toasted walnuts on top. If I were to return, I would only get the sweet potato chips (super thin, crispy, and flavorful!) and the cupcake and get the rest of the meal at a much cheaper price from kfc down the road. I haven't tried their other meat options or their sides but they do have some unique selections which I would be down to try in the future if I get a craving for pot roast or meatloaf. Overall would avoid the fried chicken and catfish as they are very overpriced for what you get but maybe explore their other options and definitely try out the sweet potato chips. read more

What an amazing find on the east side. I walked in and was immediately greeted with a smile. This place makes you feel like family as soon as you enter. Had a great lunch after tennis. We sat outside and really enjoyed the food. I had the meatloaf sandwich which was a very generous serving size. All the food is homemade and it taste like it! Others had salmon blt,chicken salad on a croissant, and a huge smash burger plus sweet potato chips. They are closed on Mondays. Lunch is from 11-3 dinner 5-9. I inadvertently crashed their pre-opening dinner for friends and family and, instead of embarrassing me, they fed me! And they fed me WELL. Helpful and friendly staff, with hands-on owners. They have a variety of meats and fish, with an exceptional list of side veggies. My husband and I enjoyed salmon (perfection), meat loaf (could have used a tad more mushroom gravy), beet salad, asparagus (thin and tender stalks), broccoli and fried okra (just-right crispy coating). Servings were generous and hot. Delicate seasonings; not over-salted. Special shout out to the biscuits! Please help me keep these guys in business. I live nearby and I'm planning to eat there frequently. They are a little difficult to spot from the street. They are the far right business in a strip mall behind Taco Bell. read more

First time to Preacher Green's tonight and I have to say it was very good Southern food. We went late but they welcomed us in and made conversation a couple times while we ate. It's open with tables and booths. A little echoy, I'm sure it can get loud when the place is packed but with the food as good as it is, that would not deter us. Service was great as well. We had the Country fried steak with a couple veggies (the green beans and chicken mull were fantastic) and southern fried chicken with mashed potatoes and collard greens.
