First time at Mama's will NOT be my last. Only complaint would be that asked for spicy and pad Thai was not spicy at all.. other than that, though, great market and friendly service. read more

I created a yelp account just for this restaurant. This is the best restaurant I've eaten at in Indiana. Although it being Indiana, that isn't saying much. So let me put it this way. I've been to LA multiple times where the food is amazing, and this restaurant approaches them. Heck, if this restaurant were in LA I would eat here. It's that good. I don't like eating the same thing over and over, so I never eat at the same restaurant twice in the same area. I was at a hotel near this place for a week and I ate here 4 times. There is so much variety it is amazing. There were complaints about the atmosphere. I have a solution: order takeout. Problem solved. I have tried: Handmade Steamed Stuffed Bun Handmade Dumpling Spring Roll Crab Rangoon Green Onion Pancake Pork Noodie Soup (not a typo here, just copying how it is on the menu) Japanese Yakisoba Noodles Korean Bibimbap Rice Bowl Pad Thai Noodle Mango Smoothie Thai Iced Tea Sorry, if you are looking for a suggestion on what to order, I'm not able to tell you that. However, I will tell you that you cannot go wrong. I will add that I do not usually care for Pad Thai, but this one was amazing and the best I've ever had. This is one of the best hidden gems in Evansville. The food is fresh and made to order. The portions are very generous. The Vietnamese Pho is delicious with a broth that had layers of flavor. And the Pad Thai is yummy! I am so thankful for the owners of Aihua for opening up Mama's Kitchen. While the space is quite small, the food is worth it! In town for work and was looking for something light for lunch. I found Mama's kitchen and thought I would give it a try. Didn't taste like Thai food, more like stir fry. It still was good but after eating Thai food in Thailand, I have hight expectations for the cuisine. read more

Best place in town for Pho!!! Their dumplings are the best Ive ever had also. Generous portions, sweet and funny cooks, and fair pricing. My husband and I found a new fave. This is a little gem in Evansville. And when you're done eating walk over to the grocery next door and get some shopping done. There is so much to try! We can't wait to go back for more. read more

I don't write Yelp reviews but Mama's Kitchen persuaded me. Been here a few times when visiting. The Pork Soup is my favorite. The noodles are great and pork and flavors are dope. Pork buns are about as good as I get at big city East Coast places. Vegetable noodle soup has hella ingredients and is legit. Price is great. Really good selection and seems authentic. read more

Talk about made to order! Literally as soon as you place your order an adorable older man or woman (they seemed to tag team WWF style) comes from the back and fires up the wok behind the register. You can practically taste the authenticity. We've only been once and meant to make it back but didn't. It's quaint and humble (5 to 6 small tables)and attached to a specialty grocery. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Mama's Kitchen is absolutely worth trying and will likely be one of your favorite go to places for dine in or take out. My family (of 4) ordered pad-Thai, house fried rice, and 2 orders of the fried crab rangoon and there was plenty of food to feed all of us comfortably. The food was fresh and flavorful. This is a tiny restaurant. It has, I think, 4 tables. The same people that run the grocery that's adjacent also prepare the food. It's a small menu made up of what I gather are authentic asian dishes. If you are new there, you will likely be encouraged to order the Pad Thai. The reason is probably that it tastes great, and will be enjoyed by the most people. If you are adventurous in the slightest, however, refuse the Pad Thai and order something else! The other items all contain difficult to pronounce and understand names, but the flavors are amazing - unlike anything I've ever tasted. They will contain foods you're not accustomed to eating, but they work well in combination. I'm a pretty picky eater and so I have to step out of my comfort zone to try some of these dishes, but it's always well worth it. For what it's worth, my uncle, who has spent tons of time in East Asia and was familiar with all the dishes listed on the menu, said the dish he had was the best tasting he had tried anywhere in the United States. read more

This place is very good. They don't have a lot of vegetarian options (none of the soups are) but the items I have tried are great! The vegetable hot pot is wonderful and so is the lemon grass tofu. Delicious authentic Asian food cooked right in front of us. Owner and cooks were very friendly and made suggestions of what to order. Small restaurant, serve yourself drinks, casual... like home. Our children enjoyed it too and I'm glad they got a chance to taste real Asian cuisine instead of the standard Americanized buffet. read more

The locale tends to lend itself to ridicule, with the flies buzzing around and the sticky everything. I found that the owners were rude and couldn't even be bothered to bring us our food; they just left it on the counter and walked away. The food was good (the dumplings were dynamite), but ultimately forgettable. Such a shame. Everyone seemed to really like this place. Tucked inside Aihua International Market is this tiny noodle shop. The menu is small, the portions are huge, the price is right, and the food is delicious and authentic! Chinese, Korean, Thai, and Vietnamese comfort food, and the noodles are made from scratch. I have had the beef and noodles which was very tasty; tender beef, vegetables, spicy savory broth and a ton of homemade wheat noodles. The other dish I have tried there was the Korean bibimbap bowl which was simply perfect. It was a huge dish served with rice, kimchi, sprouted mung beans, sliced beef, carrots, cucumbers, sauteed mixed vegetables and a fried egg on top. I shared with my husband and I was still extremely full. I have tried the other 2 "Korean" restaurants in Evansville and this was hands down the best. Coffee, tea, and water are all free, and the food is cooked right in front of you by the owner, who is very sweet and accommodating. Ok, where to start. Like the rest of the reviews, it's a diamond in the rough. No fine dining here, just in your face authentic Asian food. Made in front of you. English is sparse , so ordering may involve pointing at pictures on a menu. No choice will be wrong. Ingredients my come from attached grocery stores and all are cooked in two flaming hot woks. Table and chairs, and a counter is all there is. Ol, maybe 4 tables. I sat at the counter, ate and watched the show. Which as good for me as I cook Asian food myself at home. Dumplings are homemade, buns are tasty and the rest are to die for. I wasted to taste everyone else's meals, because they looked so good. I also my have lost a hand as that would have rude. 5 stars because of the authenticity and taste. Nothing comes this close without going to Southeast Asia. The owner was friendly, but the restaurant portion of the market probably needs some cleaning. There are flies flying around and the tables are sticky. The edges of the tables are not properly wiped either. I had to put a paper towel on it first before I set my elbows down. read more

This place is definitely different from most places you would go for good Asian food.There really is no conventional service. When we went in we stood there a minute or so the decided to sit down. No one came for a drink or food order. There was a party of four or five at another table who told us there was drinks in the corner. Then Mama said said yes there was water and tea. We helped ourselves and sat again, Then the cook ask what we wanted. We placed our order and watched them cook it as she she spoke to him in another language. Quite funny really as she seemed to be laying down the law :). We got the Pad Thai served first, and although different from any other I have ever had was off the charts delicious! My wife had the bibimbap that was also a delight the taste buds. We went back 2 days later and got the Pad Thai again and the Vietnamese beef noodle soup.Pad Thai again was quite tasty, and the soup I got was not a bowl, it was more like a pot of soup! It was great, maybe not the best I've ever had, but awesome nun the less. I wish we would have had the time to go through the whole menu. It is a hole in the wall connected to an Asian market, but the food is fresh, homemade, cooked right in front of you, and taste great. They serve some very big portions, and it's light on the pocket. read more
